I agree on de-spoilering the page. The preamble seems to me enough warning as to what readers should expect.
We can remove the spoiler text I think, and warn that it is a spoiler trope.
Yes, nuke the spoiler markups. And as for warning the reader, I've just replaced the little tiny text warning with our {{Unmarked Spoilers}} template, which is designed to stand out just a little.
