Reading the description, is this trope only for stories about pollution, or can it be applied to other environmental issues?

What led me to ask this is how The Oregon Trail (2021 video game) touches on how overhunting removed much of the local wildlife from the ecosystem. Not about pollution, but definitely an environmental Aesop. Another example might be the Bangladeshi animated film Tomorrow, which is more about using clean energy instead of avoiding pollution.

We already have Pom Poko listed as an example, and that movie dealt with urbanization of green space rather than with pollution. I'd say that this trope is flexible enough to cover any environmental issues.
