  • Fan Nickname: From the 2nd Railgun mini light novel "Loli Kihara", aka Nayuta Kihara, a little girl who happens to be a Kihara.
    • Fans have also taken to calling Heaven Canceler "Dr. Gekota" from Episode 10.
  • High Octane Nightmare Fuel: Episode 12 of Railgun. Screaming psychic fetus monster fits the bill nicely.
  • Ho Yay: A one sided crush between Miho to Saten and a not so appropriate obsessive appreciation from Kuroko to Mikoto.
  • I Knew It! - We all knew it when Telestina was revealed as the villian. But what caught everyone off guard was the revelation that she is Gensei Kiharaa's granddaughter. Fan reaction about this between the first time viewers and novel readers were varied. With the former going "What the? She's her granddaughter?" while the later going "Wait, She's a Kihara!? As in the Kihara's? Oh Shit!?"
  • Moral Event Horizon: For Gensei Kihara, having 10 kids forcefully overloaded with esper powers definitely crosses the line. And before that, using his own granddaughters as the subject of his experiments. One was involved with the Level 6 overload experiments, the other became a cyborg!
  • More Popular Spinoff - While Toaru Majutsu no Index was a hit, Toaru Kagaku no Railgun was more popular, sold more DVDs and got a better reception with fans thanks to a lot of Character Development for the cast.
  • Offscreen Moment of Awesome: We don't get to see Kongo Mitsuko's rescue of Mikoto from the Power Armored MAR goon after Telestina knocks her out. But it's subverted in the next episode where we do see her powers and it was awesome!
