  • And the Fandom Rejoiced: Reactions to the trailer for the OVA have been overwhelmingly positive, even among those who were disappointed with previous yuri anime (especially Shoujo Sect).
  • Crowning Moment of Funny: In the drama CD "Zutto Issho no Natsu", Mai loses her temper when Reo tells her that she left the AC on at her house with no one home.
  • Germans Love David Hasselhoff: Most of the comments on Fuguriya's YouTube videos are in English. In addition, the series has a small, but distinct Thai following. Thanks to the decalingual fansub of the OVA, there could very well be fanbases in Italy, France, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Netherlands, Hungary, Portugal, and Russia.
    • In an episode of Reo-ppoi Radio, one of the fan letters sent in came from America. The host attempted to read it but gave up halfway through the first sentence.
  • It's Short, So It Sucks: Averted: the games can all be played in only a few hours each, but that's never a point of contention in reviews. The OVA also averts this; although 23 minutes cannot be expected to cover much of the story of the eroge it adapts, it was well-received by reviewers.
  • Periphery Demographic: According to Fuguriya, one of the reasons Hanahira! was created was the large number of female fans who wrote in and suggested that they make a non-hentai game they don't have to play behind closed doors.
  • Squick: Most players will get squicked by the urine scene from the first game. In game, even Nanami herself is Squicked by that scene. Similar scenes occur in later games, but they aren't visually explicit or even plot-relevant... most of the time. Thanks for that, Runa.
  • Surprisingly Improved Sequel: Starting with the second game, the series concentrates more on character development marking a definite improvement.
  • Unfortunate Implications: Fuguriya was named because of the creator's love for green spotted puffer fish (midorifugu), as seen in their logo, but "fuguri" translates to "testicles". This has been acknowledged; since the name they originally wanted was already taken, they took their chances with the current name, despite the contradictory double entendre.
  • Woolseyism: The Fan Translation of the Reo/Mai Diaries simulates the visual novel GUI that the original lacked.
