Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Duckie from Pretty in Pink.
  • All of the characters that Michael Cera plays in the movies he stars in.
  • Elliot, the sweet, clumsy, sensitive Gentle Giant gay-bodyguard (Dwayne Johnson, SO Playing Against Type) in Be Cool.
  • In Paper Heart, Charlyne Yi gives Michael Cera a run for his money as the most adorkable person ever.
    • Charlyne Yi in Real Life, really. She's so awkward and weird you want to keep her in your pocket forever.
  • Dave Lizewski from Kick-Ass, especially before he becomes the eponymous superhero.
    • Chris D'Amico/Red Mist could be a villainous example of this, given his love of comic books, his slight lisp and the fact that he and Dave have a silly bonding moment jamming in Chris's car while on the way to a crime scene. Unfortunately, his lovable dorkiness disappears pretty quickly afterwards.
  • Thomas Build-A-Fire from Smoke Signals is this to a T. He even wears a suit and thick rimmed glasses.
  • Most (young) Jeff Goldblum characters, which causes serious cognitive dissonance when you remember his debut role as a rapist in Death Wish.
  • Jesse Eisenberg in pretty much anything, including Adventureland and Zombieland. How else could someone get Kristen Stewart and Emma Stone?
    • It helps that he's practically a body double of Michael Cera.
    • In fact, it's an open challenge to find any comedy protagonists under age 25 who don't fit this archetype nowadays (over 25 is "chunky guy who needs a shave," which fits into a much broader definition of adorkable).
  • Lenny von Dohlen was this back in The Eighties, particularly as Moles Miles in Electric Dreams.
  • Seymour Krelborn from Little Shop of Horrors.
  • David Stutler from The Sorcerers Apprentice. Jay Baruchel has carved a niche himself with this: Fanboys, How to Train Your Dragon...heck, this is the reason the blond bombshell in She's Out Of My League falls for him.
  • Hugh Grant in anything. To quote the Family Guy parody "I'm just so charmingly befuddled."
  • Riley from National Treasure, anyone?
  • Norman Bates appears to be adorkable until...
  • Ethan from Due Date.
  • Norm from Avatar.
  • Michelle from American Pie.
  • Harold, played by John Cho.
  • Anyone played by Michael J. Fox. He's so cute and young looking, that he managed to pull off a teenage character flawlessly when he was 30 years old.
  • Harold Lloyd codified the look in modern American society.
  • Abe Sapien was always the smart one of the group in Hellboy, but it wasn't until the sequel he became full-on adorkable. It might have something to do with gaining his first love interest (any time he interacts with her is stuffed full of awkward), but even before that he can be seen geeking out over some rare Victorian goggles. Fangirls are split somewhat between this portrayal and the more traditionally Badass character in the comics.
  • Thor: Jane's usually a level-headed girl, but anytime Thor turns on the charm, she turns to a giggling school girl.
    • Darcy much more so.
    • Thor himself applies when he's on Earth. Despite being completely ignorant to how the mortal world works, he is a polite and chivalious gentleman towards women, Jane in particular, even before his redemption. He even kisses Jane's hand and bows in farewell to Darcy and Erik for their help.
    • The Warriors Three and Sif tapping on the glass window with huge grins when they found Thor.
  • In Hitch, rather than following Hitch's advice, Albert ended up wooing his love interest by being himself, which resulted in him being this.
  • Bill Pullman as Dr. James Harvey in Casper.
  • X Men First Class. Hank McCoy.
  • The eponymous Mystery Team.
  • Griff The Invisible is probably the shyest, meekest, sweetest wannabe-superhero you will ever meet, and fulfils this trope to the point that you almost need a teddy bear while watching so you'll have something to huggle when he's sad. Also his love interest/self-appointed sidekick Melody, a klutzy but very sincere girl with no comprehension of social norms and a lot of strange psuedo-scientific theories. Watching them dash around playing superhero is cute to a possibly lethal degree.
  • James Spader as Dr. Daniel Jackson in Stargate.
  • Captain America: The First Avenger: Even after becoming the peak of physical human perfection, Steve Rogers is still the earnest and kind-hearted man that he was prior to the Super-Soldier procedures.
  • Kishore Kumar from 70's Bollywood film Johnny Mera Naam... or at least when he's singing "this oddly stalkerish song"...
  • The hobbits from The Lord of the Rings.
  • The alien in Starman.
  • Paul Bettany as the socially awkward Darwin in Creation.
  • Dan Aykroyd as Dr. Ray Stantz from Ghostbusters.
    • Also Harold Ramis as Dr. Egon Spengler
  • Alfalfa of The Little Rascals.
  • Gustave and Jacqueline of Ever After (film).
  • Monty Python and the Holy Grail: Sir Galahad the Pure/Chaste and Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot.
  • A Christmas Story: Randy and Ralphie.
  • Buddy the Elf.
  • The titular Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
  • Barry of Dinner for Schmucks.
  • Gracie of Miss Congeniality and it's sequel.
  • The titular Napoleon Dynamite. Also, Deb and Pedro.
  • Mean Girls has a few, like the unpopular girls as well as Cady and Karen.
  • ET the Extraterrestrial: Elliot.
  • Clark Kent as played by Christopher Reeve and Brandon Routh.
  • The titular Hanna at times, especially when confronted with anything non-assassination related.
  • Elliot from Bedazzled, at least at first. Although it's rather negative in that he has no friends and his coworkers actively avoid him because of it, this movie needs a diabetes warning.
  • Blue Velvet: Jeffrey Beaumont.
  • Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi : Surinder
  • Mark Ruffalo as Dr. Bruce Banner in The Avengers. Quiet, nerdy, wears glasses, has rumpled hair, and a slightly nervous demeanor, as he's working for a company he doesn't exactly trust, with other super-powered people who won't get along, and he's trying his hardest to stay calm and not to let "The Big Guy" out. Also, he rides a tiny motorcycle at one point. And with the return of the previously mentioned Steve Rogers and Thor, the film is just FULL of adorkable-ness.
    • Usually dry & deadpan SHIELD Agent Phil Coulson turns out to be quite adorkable too, especially when it relates to Captain America.
  • Chris Brander in Just Friends, especially during his fat phase.
