Alexander Rae "Alec" Baldwin III (born April 3, 1958) is an American actor, film producer and comedian who has appeared on film, stage and television. As a member of the Baldwin family, he is the eldest of the four Baldwin brothers, all well-known actors.

Baldwin first gained recognition appearing on seasons 6 and 7 of the CBS television drama Knots Landing, in the role of Joshua Rush. He has since played both leading and supporting roles in films such as Beetlejuice (1988), The Hunt for Red October (1990), The Marrying Man (1991), The Shadow (1994), The Aviator (2004) and The Departed (2006). His performance in the 2003 film The Cooler garnered him a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

From 2006 to 2013, he starred as Jack Donaghy on the NBC sitcom 30 Rock, receiving critical acclaim for his performance and winning two Emmy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and seven Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work on the show, making him the male performer with the most SAG Awards.

Baldwin was a columnist for The Huffington Post. He was host of MSNBC's Up Late with Alec Baldwin, which lasted for five episodes until he was fired on November 26, 2013. He was also known for his portrayal of Donald Trump on Saturday Night Live.

In October 2021, during a film production he was also producer for, Alec Baldwin received a firearm, failed to check if it was loaded, pointed it at a cast member and at least cocked it (despite not being called for by the scene). The subsequent discharge resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, and director Joel Souza being injured by the penetrating shot. Surprisingly, Baldwin then gave an interview to ABC news with no indication of counsel present where he admitted to cocking the firearm. He has since been sued by multiple parties, both for the actual shooting and claims that, in his role as a producer, his cost cutting created an unsafe environment. While not charged criminally at the time of writing, local authorities since pursued at least one search warrant against Baldwin. The hypocrisy of his vocal anti-civilian gun ownership stance while his actions broke all four rules of firearms safety and resulted in more people being killed than the overwhelming majority of lawful gun owners have was repeatedly noted by media. In January of 2023 he would be charged with two counts of manslaughter, one for personally shooting Hutchins, and another for creating the unsafe environment that led her death by, as the film's producer, abandoning industry standard safety protocols in the name of expediency and budget.
