  • Comments:
    • There are 649 instances as of the time this request was made of pages linking directly to the category instead of to the trope page. This is probably an artifact of when the trope description was on the category page, before the term was disambiguated because there is also a work by that name. The links should point directly at the trope instead of needing to go through an extra step. --Robkelk (talk) 21:50, 15 August 2021 (UTC)

Disambiguation with AWB

  • Username of Bot Owner or User Requesting a Bot Job: Derivative
  • Name of bot: AutoWikiBrowser
  • Type of request: To be allowed to do semi-automated disambiguation over a indefinite period of time per Special:DisambiguationPageLinks; similar to what I did 5 years ago for Humans Are Bastards.
  • Other staff signing off:
    • REJECT. It was the performance of a bot run without prior oversight that resulted in this system being put into place in the first place. This is a request to circumvent the new process. NO. --Robkelk (talk) 17:19, 23 October 2021 (UTC)
  • Comments:
    • Exactly what are you planning on doing? (For example, I just noticed that Humans Are Bastards had Category:Humans Are Bastards instead of Category:{{PAGENAME}}, which I have just fixed - are you planning on undoing that fix?) --Robkelk (talk) 12:28, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
      • Humans are Bastards was an old example of what I did 5 years ago to no issue, Geth told me to run this by you guys, but I am using AWB to disambiguate links to disambiguation pages. For example one project I am doing right now is redirecting applicable links from WWE to World Wrestling Federation, due to the WWE now linking to a disambiguation page. This is all being done semi-automatically (I review every edit and have to approve every edit manually.), and can be applied to all cases in the Special:Disambig link above. Derivative (talk) 12:43, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
        • So this is a general class that includes the specific case that I cleaned up in the run described immediately above this one? --Robkelk (talk) 00:22, 11 September 2021 (UTC)
          • Yes, this is just asking permission to use AWB in such instances on a multi-use basis for disambiguation projects, per my private conversation with Geth. Derivative (talk) 00:47, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

    • No objections to doing this. GethN7 (talk) 22:28, 24 January 2022 (UTC)
    • I've been doing this manually for the last few weeks. I approve of not having to do it any more. <grin> Looney Toons (talk) 14:31, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
  • Attempting the bot run now. --Robkelk (talk) 15:16, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
    • The run is completed, but 502 and 503 errors during the run lead to the database not being fully updated - approximately half of the pages still show as using the redirect even though they don't. The only fix appears to be to make a manual edit to each affected page. --Robkelk (talk) 15:55, 28 January 2022 (UTC)

    • Likewise. Looney Toons (talk) 13:41, 21 February 2022 (UTC)
  • Comments:

As of this typing, 2167 pages link to "What Do You Mean It's Not Awesome?" ... which redirects to Mundane Made Awesome. We can at least automate the replacement of the potholed occurrences of the link to the redirect. The rest will need to be done manually because tropelists might need to be re-sorted. --Robkelk (talk) 01:50, 20 February 2022 (UTC)

  • Real Life intervened, and this did not happen when scheduled. Rescheduling. --Robkelk (talk) 16:39, 14 March 2022 (UTC)

Replace links to redirects to Harry Potter works with direct links

  • Staff who signed off on the bot job:
    • Since there is manual oversight f the process, I see no reason to object. --Robkelk (talk) 12:25, 8 August 2023 (UTC)
