All The Tropes:How To Delete a Page

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Deleting a page is a task that only wiki administrators may perform. However, anyone can nominate a page for deletion.

This is done by placing the {{delete}} template at the top of the page. This template takes a reason for the deletion as its only parameter. For example:

{{delete|This is a page for a work which never actually existed.}}

Adding a delete template to a page has two important effects. First, it puts a large notice about the requested deletion on the page. The example above would display as:

Additionally, it adds the category "Pages for speedy deletion" to the page, which causes it to show up on the corresponding category page, as well as on the Community Portal. This alerts the wiki administrators that there is a request for a page deletion.

While the reason given in the template parameter should be sufficient to explain why the page should be deleted, it is often a good idea to put a corresponding note on the page's Talk page or in the "Trope Talk" area of the forums... especially if your reasons for the deletion are larger or more detailed than can be easily described for the template.

IMPORTANT! Do not blank the nominated page. Deletion is not an automatic process, and the administrator responding to the template will want to review the page's contents to see if it really does deserve to be deleted. Blanking the page just makes his job harder, and even if done in good faith may get you tagged as a Wiki Vandal.
