Are you guys planning to replace all mentions of the former with the latter in this namespace? I can handle most everything else.

I'm not familiar with all the particulars of that drama, haven't even bothered checking Freenode in awhile, so if anyone else wants to edit it if they have more information, go for it.

You can find the (literal) gist of it here - Miraheze was effectively forced off Freenode along with several other channels and communities for even mentioning Libera, which was established by ex-freenode staff who all resigned en masse after Andrew Lee moved to take over the network.

Yeah, I think it's time to update the page. If there's anybody who disagrees, please say so now.

No disagreement from me; I read up on the whole mess, and Lee deserves everything he gets.

I've done what I can to ensure mentions of IRC channels are pointing at the correct servers - mainly by replacing our lists of Miraheze channels with links to Miraheze's own list. They're their channels; let's let them keep the list up to date.

As for our own IRC channel... that's beyond my competence to change. It's also beyond my authority - I'm just a bureaucrat. We need community agreement to make a change that's that big.

Time to do the usual thing, then -- throw a proposal up in the Forums, see if anyone objects.

Meanwhile, maybe we ought to create a page on Freenode to document its rise and fall.
