• Fridge Horror: The scene in the jail where Janine talks to Darren and Pope and it becomes abundantly clear that Darren has been raped. At first it seems like Pope, Jerkass that he is, has simply neglected his brother, but when you take into account Pope's creepy, perverted behavior and his strange insistence that Darren is gay earlier in the film, a much more horrific connotation comes to the surface. Think about it.
  • More Fridge Horror: At the beginning of the film, Joshua's mother dies from a heroin overdose. Later in the film, her brother Pope introduces Joshua's girlfriend Nicky to heroin, promising her that "it's fun". Think about it. Pope just gets worse and worse the deeper into the subtext you read.
