Apollo 18/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Hell Is That Noise: The sound of something scuttling on the hull of the lunar lander. Normally such a sound would be moderately creepy given multi-legged things give this Troper pause, but put it on the Moon...
  • Fridge Logic: The movie is based on actual footage of a secret mission even though this was the last mission to the moon ("...we never went back..."), none of the crew survived and all spacecraft were destroyed, somehow the footage has made it back to Earth and been magically uploaded to the internet.
  • Fridge Horror: Or tragedy, in any case--unless Luna 2, the first probe to arrive on the Moon, revealed something to the Soviets more than a decade before the film's events, the Soviets and their cosmonauts would have had no way of knowing what was lurking on the moon. Tragic because it's implied the Americans, through their shared cover-up, actually had some idea but went ahead anyway.
  • Paranoia Fuel: The movie ends with a note on how many moon rocks were given to foreign diplomats as gifts, and are now either stolen or missing. And since we know that any moon rock could be one of the alien parasites...
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Plot
