Arrogant Kung Fu Guy/Playing With

Basic Trope: A character with lots of raw power and Pride who thinks he's superior to everyone else.

Straight: Kuro is a young swordsman who has The Gift. Unfortunately for everyone, he knows this, and looks down upon his 'vastly inferior' peers, especially Aka ru and Mi ki. When both go on to defeat him, he doesn't take it well.
Exaggerated: Kuro considers his skills to be nigh-godly, and expects to be treated as such. He trounces Akaru just because he can, and is stunned when that provokes Miki into defeating him.
Justified: Kuro is literally invincible for some reason. Of course, the "Arrogant" part can't really be justified.
Inverted: Martial Pacifist
Subverted: Although he has a fearsome reputation for being insanely strong, when Akaru and Miki first meet Kuro, they find a very humble and softspoken young man who greets them as equals.
Double Subverted: However, that polite demeanor turns out to be false modesty

Deconstructed: Kuro's attitude has been reinforced by his mentor, who encouraged his sense of superiority and led him to believe that nothing was more important than being the very best. He refuses to see Akaru or Miki as threats because his self-image centers on being stronger and practically untouchable. His eventual loss shakes him to his core.

Exploited: Akaru, recognizing that Kuro's ego surpasses his skill despite his raw power, deliberately plays on that pride to manipulate him into taking a challenge. Said challenge is actually a Humiliation Conga set up by Akaru and his friends.
Defied: Kuro knows he is the most skilled swordsman out there, but he refuses to boast about it or let it get to his head because it would only dishonor his Sensei and/or it would alienate himself from everyone else.

Played For Laughs: All of Kuro's skill is entirely in his own head; he only thinks he's a great fighter, and being regularly defeated by his self-declared rivals does nothing to shake his sense of superiority.
Played For Drama: Kuro goes on a Roaring Rampage of Revenge and kills everybody in his path, including some of the main characters, to defeat his Arch Enemy.
