Joe Yabuki
- Anti-Hero: He tends to violently punch people without ever bothering to learn what the situation is about. This gets him a real violent punch from José Mendoza when he thinks Mendoza is using Carlos Rivera's retirement to promote himself and attacks the flyweight champion.
- Badass: No doubt he is one of the best boxers of the world, and non-boxers tend to invariably being beaten by him.
- Break the Haughty: It's hard not to feel even a little bit bad for him during the Juvenile arc, when it looks like Danpei has abandoned him (it's actually a Secret Test of Character).
- Character Development
- Defictionalization: Like Rikiishi, he got a real funeral with hundreds of people mourning. That's how popular this series was.

- Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: After Rikiishi has passed away, Joe is afraid to hit his opponents in the head since that's what finished his rival.

- Gentle Giant
- Japanese Delinquents
Youko Shiraki
- Non-Idle Rich: She is constantly trying to get more involved in the sport of boxing as a promoter, even with her grandpa trying to make her give up after Rikishi dies after his climactic fight with Joe.
- The Ojou: She's a calm, soft-spoken girl from a rich family
- Tall, Dark and Bishoujo: Though the art style of Only Six Faces make it harder to distinguish her from other characters, the male reaction to her presence clearly shows she is supposed to be incredibly beautiful, and she is certainly tall and dark-haired.

- Hideyuki Hori: Videogames
- Japanese Delinquents

- Ryusei Nakao: Second series.
