Anvilicious: Just in case you kiddies haven't got that the first time, President Stone will say it again and again: he is the president, and for Metro City to depend on him he needs to make a war.
Complete Monster: President Stone.
Crowning Music of Awesome: The title theme (played in variation the first time Astro flies, over the end credits, and a few other times) is truly gorgeous.
Fridge Horror: The end of the movie is supposed to be happy, but then you remember that Toby is still dead. Without a body to bury.
In Name Only: It's a Pixar-type CGI kid-flick which has nothing to do with any of the versions before it, with several concepts created out of whole cloth, often for sheer comedy value. That said, taken as its own movie, unconnected to the originals, it's not bad.
Non Sequitur Scene: The attack of the giant alien at the end whose only purpose was to give a shirtless Astro an action shot, probably.
Older Than They Think: Quite a few people claimed that giving him butt lasers was disrespectful to the source material and Astro's creator...
The Problem with Licensed Games: The tie-in game tried to borrow gameplay from Omega Factor and failed miserably.
What the Hell, Casting Agency?: In Brazil, Astro Boy was voiced by this guy.
