  • Deconstruction: Despite it's claim of having "positive" messages, the series is clearly one of these; in this case of similar book series with similar themes, with the characters' Genre Blindness, its Darker and Edgier plot, its priority focus on the characters' personal problems (and their arguing), and its near Downer Ending.
  • Needs More Love: For as well as the publisher claims that the books sell (one of their best titles), the internet fandom is very small and slow, and they get very little merchandising, promotion, or media coverage.
  • Tear Jerker: Stormbringer's Disney Death in Trial by Fire for many fans, as well as Emily killing Ozzie in Dark Mage.
