Ensemble Darkhorse: Since joining the book as a background character in issue #21 Juston Seyfert seems to be rapidly becoming one.
- Although they ARE main cast members Mettle and Hazmat are easily the most popular characters in the book. As such fans were more than a little happy when they finally got together.
Jump the Shark: The move to the West Coast Avengers headquarters is beginning to look like this to a lot of fans. A particularly uninteresting and dragged out story involving Future Reptil, a reliance on guest stars (a rather lackluster Runaways crossover and some X-Men students among others) and an overinflated cast (the originals minus Veil, the teachers, a ton of recognizable background characters and new additions Julie Power, White Tiger and X-23) that's resulted in far less focus and characters becoming more two-dimensional are seen as the biggest culprits post-move.
- Also having Hawkeye as the new instructor did not help as he is in other different teams such as Secret Avengers, Avengers and New Avengers. This is also a Wolverine Publicity thanks to the Avengers movie.
Tear Jerker: Adult Finesse is completely incapable of even recognising her own daughter
The Woobie: Ever since he manifested his powers, poor Mettle has shades of this. Looking like a monster thanks to his red metallic armor and having no skin as well as he was often mistaken as 'Red Skull's son' by the public. He is also qualified as the Iron Woobie.
- Of all the instructors, it's Speedball. Though he is slowly recovering from his Penance phase, he still cuts himself behind closed doors as he claims that is the only way for him to use his more powerful, Penance-based powers in fights and he is haunted by the memories of Stamford disaster. This guy seriously needs a hug.
