  • Complete Monster: Derek Powers/Blight is the most prominent one in Terry's Rogues Gallery... until the Joker came back.
  • Crowning Music of Awesome: The series itself has an amazing opening sequence and music in general,
    • In one episode, Bruce Wayne has to save Terry from Inque. We are treated to a re-orchestrated version of the original Batman Theme during the fight.
    • One episode featured Bruce and Terry atending a Batman musical.
  • Ensemble Darkhorse:
    • The Joker's gang of Jokerz, especially Dee Dee, are inordinately popular for only appearing in The Movie. Fans were naturally thrown a bone when Justice League Unlimited went to that time and they were used as Chronos' flunkies.
    • For barely managing to appear in 3 episodes, one-shot villain Melanie Walker made an exceptionally positive impression on viewers and shippers alike, being one of the most popular romantic alternatives for Terry.
    • Mad Stan was a one-note villain simply there to force Terry to miss his date with Dana. His outright insane Ax Crazy personality made him popular among fans and he reappeared in several episodes, finally getting to be the main antagonist when the Zeta Project crossed over. The best part: due to Zeta's naive, cheerful nature, he and Stan actually get along well, resulting in this hilarious line:

Zeta: What a nice guy. But he should really learn to drive more carefully.

  • Epileptic Trees: Spoofed in Return of the Joker when Terry starts rattling off a list of increasingly unlikely theories as to why the Joker's still alive and kicking. Bruce eventually tells him to shut up. His theories also include a Shout-Out to Captain America (comics).
  • Evil Is Sexy: Inque. It runs in the family, as her daughter Deanna is pretty good looking also.
    • Also Queen and Ten from the Royal Flush Gang count for this, until Ten defects from the group.
    • Curare also to a certain degree, if you don't mind the fact that she's actually bald.
    • Also Frion from the Terrific Trio.
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Terry and Melanie and Terry and Max are in the running for the top spot, if fanfiction is any indication. One writer even tried to pair Max and Terry in one episode, to the objection of Timm (Here at 1:55)
  • Foe Yay: Ten and Batman.
    • Also Inque and Batman. She even kisses him on the mouth to prevent him from relaying a warning to Bruce about her trap for him in one episode.
  • Fridge Horror: Inque's daughter Deanna never makes an appearance again after "Inqueling". Inque does. And it's a safe bet she wasn't exactly pleased that her daughter tried to kill her. Do the math and you'll probably figure out why we never saw Deanna again...

  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: While going over Presidents with Max, this exchange occurs (Note that this show ended production in 2001, before George W. Bush was elected):

Terry: Ford. Carter. Reagan. Bush. Clinton...

Max: Yeah?

Terry: I dunno.

Max: C'mon. Clinton was the fun one, then came the boring one.

  • High School Sweethearts: Terry and Dana
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: Being set in the future tends to attract this from time to time, whether it is Terry quipping "Who reads newspapers anymore?" (in "The Winning Edge") or reviewing the Presidents with "Clinton was the fun one, then came the boring one." (in "Mind Games"). By the time of the series a perfect score is 2400 (see the example in Second Place Is for Losers), which as of 2005 it has been. In "Out of the Past", Talia al Ghul corrects Terry that the proper pronunciation of her fathers name is "Raysh al Ghul", opposed to "Rozz," and this was confirmed by Word of God. When Batman Begins came out, Ra's was pronounced "Rozz" throughout the film.
    • In the pilot episode, a Jokerz member says "Let's put a smile on his face," while brandishing a knife.
    • In "Countdown," Zeta disguises himself as Terry in costume to escape the NSA. Diedrich Bader would later voice a different Batman years later.
  • Idiot Plot: "The Eggbaby", while a very comedic episode definitely falls under this. The main conflict was that Terry had to protect a robotic egg for a school assignment, or he would fail his class. There was no real reason his mom or Bruce couldn't have watched the egg for him, which would have made his life a lot easier and stopping the villains would been a lot simpler in the long run if he wasn't forced to protect the egg.
    • To be fair, they do bring it up: Terry mentions that his mom didn't want to do it, his brother tried shooting rubber bands at it, and when he tries to ask Bruce, he gets a Death Glare in response.
  • Jerkass Woobie: Willie Watt.
  • Magnificent Bastard: Derek and Paxton Powers
  • Memetic Mutation: BLOW IT ALL UP!
  • Moral Event Horizon: Ra's al Ghul. Murdering your daughter to save yourself via Brain Uploading. Geez.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Lots.
    • The end of "April Moon", as a drill bit slowly approaches the POV of the viewer:

"I understand. No holding back."

  • No Yay: "Out of the Past". Bruce and Talia Ra's. Terry and Bruce are as Squicked as you would expect. Bruce even lampshades it.
  • Paranoia Fuel: An in-universe example in "Inqueling": After Deanna seemingly kills Inque and strikes it rich with Inque's assets, Batman informs her that the sample the police took for evidence is gone. She looks around at the shadows of the plants, at the water, and the last scene is her fearfully clutching her knees as an eye forms out of the shadows. Whether this is representational or not is an exercise for the viewer.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: Most viewers would have no idea that Bruce Wayne's loyal guard dog Ace was a retooling of the '50s era Ace the Bat-Hound. Most viewers would not even know Ace the Bat-Hound existed (at least before the Krypto the Superdog show where he was a recurring character or his appearance in Batman the Brave And The Bold).
  • Shipping: Terry/Max and Terry/Melanie Walker have their fans. Believe it or not, so does Terry/Dana and inevitably for better or worse, so does Terry/Bruce.
  • Squick: Shriek's creepy little mutant henchman, who likes nothing more than to sit on the floor with a tuning fork that directly stimulates a body's pleasure center. Complete with eyes rolling back and moaning. Who else needs a shower after that?
  • They Wasted a Perfectly Good Character: An issue fans took with the series was that several interesting villains were never used for more than three episodes before getting dropped for no apparent reason.
    • Blight was the biggest offender. He was the Big Bad of the first season and set up as the Big Bad of the series period....but nope, he never returned after the first season's finale. The character did reappear in the comics, however - to elaborate, his body survived, but he doesn't seem to remember anything about his past life outside of hatred and a desire for vengeance for Batman and Paxton Powers, and was eventually made into a target for the Stalker, and was eventually killed by being caught in a blast furnace.
  • Viewer Myopia: Dana gets a lot of flack from some fans for not cutting Terry any slack when he misses dates because of Batman duties, even though as far as she knows, he's just an old man's part-time assistant.
  • Woobie, Destroyer of Worlds: The Earth Mover.
