Big Trouble in Little China/Heartwarming
- While fans at the movie gawk at the opening as being an unnecessary use of exposition. This troper found a sweet moment. When the lawyer questions Egg Shen about the whereabouts of Jack Burton, Egg shuts him down, fiercely demanding he leave Jack alone. Since he spent most of the movie protecting Jack from foes that he couldn't take by himself, it shows that even with their mission finished, Egg will still have his back.

- Jack and Wang's relationship in general. While we see them butting heads once in the movie. It's mostly over something trivial like a gamble challenge. The rest of the movie, they are very loyal friends. While Jack initially drove Wang to the airport to make sure he didn't welch on their bet, he helps Wang out when he hears Wang is getting married. When Miao Yin gets abducted, he immediately helps Wang track down the abductors, no questions asked. While he's initially shocked at the supernatural events occurring before his eyes, Jack doesn't give up on helping his friend. Wang in turn, reveres him as a heroic character and an example of what he finds positive about life in America. Even sharing a toast with each other when they drink Egg's potion, in preparation for the final battle. When they face Lo Pan and Thunder, they both share a smile showing that no matter what happens, they'll always back each other up. When the events have finished, Wang on top of making good on his word in honouring their bet, gives Jack extra money for sticking with him.
