Billy Mays/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Crowning Moment of Heartwarming: Ever since his death, Anthony Sullivan has been wearing his trademark blue shirt. It clearly shows just how close friends they were.
  • Funny Aneurysm Moment: The season finale of Pitchmen, where a pitch off is had between Billy and Sully, Billy wins said pitch off even with Sully using shills and trying to mess with him, and reclaims the shammy and chopping market from Vince Offer. All the while Sully claiming that he's unstoppable. Damn...
    • He also did a few commercials for various life insurance companies, one which featured his twenty-something son and three year old daughter was first broadcast a few days before he died.
    • And of course, if you happened to see one of his commercials on TV after he died...
      • I swear they're still coming out with new ones.
    • Not to mention Smosh made a video showing a Billy Mays impersonator get kidnapped by terrorists a mere nine days before his death.
    • In earlier 2009 during the last days of Jay Leno's reign as host of The Tonight Show he had Billy Mays do a skit that was him advertising William Shakespeare themed products. Many viewers found it to be a great example of Billy Mays doing some Adam Westing. Jay Leno said that this was originally going to be in his new show in the fall but he decided to do it before the summer on The Tonight Show.
  • Memetic Badass: He can sell anything to anyone.
  • Memetic Mutation: Many, but "you shittin' me?" probably takes the cake.
  • Rescued from the Scrappy Heap: While there were a large number of people that disliked Billy for his "annoying voice," additional exposure on Jay Leno and the show Pitchmen did a lot for changing that image.
    • Not to mention the fact that he had rather high standards for what he put his name to and the products he sold actually worked.
    • His death also helped...unfortunately
  • Too Cool to Live
  • Watch It for the Meme: His memetic popularity in Internet culture (especially YouTube Poop) is arguably what introduced many to him in the first place.
