Brows Held High/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Trivia about Brows Held High include:

It's always a little disheartening when people in my comments section come up with better jokes than I did. I mean, "Glaucom-a-vision?" Dammit[...], I wish I'd used that!

  • Aluminum Christmas Trees: He mentions that the fox from Antichrist was nominated for the Palm Dog, given out at Cannes to the best canine in a film, but lost to the dog from Up. The Palm Dog isn't simply a pun on Palme d'Or, but is an actual award, albeit one given out by an independent entity, and that was the 2009 line-up.
  • Eloquent in My Native Tongue: He admits that he's not all that skilled with Dutch, although he has some knowlege; he spent part of his childhood in the Netherlands and even went to an international school there.
  • Internet Backdraft: He uploaded "The Girlfriend Experience" to That Guy With The Glasses. By day's end, he was bombarded by accusations of slut-shaming, misogyny, and overall bad taste. He wound up losing viewers and disgusting newcomers out of taking interest. When he tore it down and explained why he didn't like the review, he was accused of everything from backpedaling to weakness of character.
    • Again when he posted "Shit TGWTG Fans Say," in which one of the guests stated their vocal hatred of "Rants," the admin of a Postsecret-style fanblog. He couldn't even put it up on the site before he was compelled to tear it down, and by then it had already caused disquiet amidst the reviewers.
  • Missing Episode: The sans-commentary version of "The Girlfriend Experience" (which he felt did completely misrepresented him) "and "What Is It?" which got removed after Crispin Glover took umbrage at its existence.
  • Old Shame: He took down "The Girlfriend Experience" because of how badly he felt he executed the review.
  • One of Us: Oancitizen explained in the commentary for Ken Park that he actually uses TV Tropes for research and to identify new movies to review. He identifies many tropes and articles by name, and links to this very wiki on Twitter/Formspring. That is right Kyle. We know you are reading this.
  • Real Song Theme Tune: "Procession of the Nobles."
  • Red String of Fate: Kyle and his artist discovered only AFTER they agreed to work together that his artist lives only 4 blocks from him. They've since become not just coworkers but inseparable BFFs, to the point of people thinking they're dating or even joking that they're married.
  • Rule 34/Creator Reactions: He's somewhat bemused by all the fangirls and Slash Fic he's received already.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Stephen Fry: Our host's hero.
  • What Could Have Been: Kallgren stated that, at one point, he thought of being an actor.
