Cars Race-O-Rama

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Cars Race-O-Rama is a racing game that was released on October 12, 2009. It is the sequel to Cars Mater-National, which was released on October 27, 2007. The PSP and DS versions of the game were created by Tantalus Media in Melbourne and Brisbane, Australia.

Plot

In the game, players race against new characters through action-packed tracks to win the Race-O-Rama trophy as their own personalized Lightning McQueen. Players can join Lightning McQueen in Radiator Springs as he prepares the Doc Hudson's racing academy of student racers for the Race-O-Rama competition. Lightning finds out that Chick Hicks has his own set of academy student racers who don't always compete fairly, as shown by crashing two of Doc's students during the intro race. So, Lightning customizes himself for the four different races: Offroad racing, street racing, beach racing, and speedway racing. After he beats Stinger, Candice and El Machismo, Chick reveals in the final race that he was only using them to learn how to beat Lightning and customize himself. After Chick loses the race, he vows his revenge on McQueen and his friends by saying that he'll come back when they least expect it and drives away in anger. Then, Candice, El Machismo and Stinger apologized to McQueen for the way they acted. McQueen accepts their apology and tells them that they're welcome to stop by the academy anytime.

Other

On the home console versions, players can customize Lightning McQueen's appearance by changing his hood, color, skirt, spoiler, front, and rear. Whereas the DS and PSP versions allow the player to equip special parts to Lightning McQueen, giving him the abilities to float on water, stick to metal surfaces, break through walls, and honk at tractors (cows). Players can play minigames which are based on the Cars short film "A Cars Toon".

Characters

On the home console versions, players can play up to 30 characters in this game, of which 15 are new in this game. Some of the names are:

  • Candice: a pink Lotus Elise beach racer who is spoiled and often asks her daddy for everything she wants.
  • El Machismo: a dark blue and yellow Dodge Ram off-road racer who is mean, vicious and says he is 'Bigger than big, badder than bad.'
  • Bubba: a big, orange 1951 International L-170 Series "boom" tow truck who is an old enemy of Mater's. He also appeared in the "World of Cars" storybook.
  • Tater and Tater Jr: two small brown and green tow trucks who start out as Bubba's friends, but become Mater's friends after Bubba loses the race and calls them morons.
  • Ultimate Chick Hicks: a meaner, cooler customised version of Chick who has all the parts Lightning had to beat Candice, Stinger and El Machismo. They also include characters from the Cars movie. As well as variations of the main characters (McQueen, Mater) from the Cars Toons animation shorts.
