Characters

Abed

  • His reversal of Professor Duncan's psychological experiment on forcing people to wait.
    • And in "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas" he reverses another of Duncan's experiments onto him.
  • Bat-Abed's speech after rescuing Jeff and Pierce from being crushed by desks.
  • His impression of Don Draper.
  • His inspiring speech on how he's completely comfortable with himself.
  • His impression of an African American Police Chief.
  • Making the group into the most popular people in school after taking control of the supply of chicken fingers.
  • After Jeff turns his meta gimmick around by saying it's "so season one," Abed retorts that he does know the difference between reality and TV: TV makes sense and has likable leading men, while he's stuck with Jeff.
  • Befriending a pregnant classmate, beating up her deadbeat boyfriend, and helping her give birth, all in a literal Out of Focus subplot.
  • His Heroic Sacrifice in "Epidemiology," making possible Troy's badassery below.
  • Thoroughly showing up his professor in a class on Who's The Boss?.
    • Doubly awesome as he'd stated in the previous season that he'd NEVER MADE IT PAST THE SHOW'S OPENING CREDITS.
  • Being the only one in the group to pass a sanity test (though Jeff had admitted to filling his out randomly).
  • Bat!Abed's interrogation of his landlord in "Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism" somehow manages to be awesomely Batman-esque despite the fact that Bat!Abed struggles to get into the apartment through the window in the first place and then struggles to make it across the room after getting his cape caught on the window ledge.
  • Becoming a successful tycoon in Pierce's father's video game, with multitudes of children that he can put to very good use.


Annie

  • Annie's winning debate gambit. "He was horny, so he dropped him. Man is evil!"
  • Annie's speech in favor of sexual repression (which is separate from the above).
  • Slugging Jeff in the second season premier. Hell yeah.
  • Taking down a man, a little over twice her size with chloroform.
    • Twice.
  • After accidentally taking a male character for Dungeons & Dragons, seducing an elf maiden in nauseating detail to get the group a Pegasus.
    • It's even more awesome if you read her lips.

Annie:I take out my HUGE member!

  • ALL of "A Fistful of Paintfuls".

Abed: She's pretty awesome today.

  • Making a terrarium at the last moment in "Competitive Ecology"

Jeff: When did you have time to make that? You're pathological.
Annie: Too late for compliments.

  • Pulling Abed out of a Heroic BSOD in "Virtual Systems Analysis."
  • The cross examination of Todd in "Basic Lupine Urology."


Britta


Jeff

  • Beating the Phys Ed teacher at pool, completely naked.
    • And earning each other's respect.
  • "Banged Mark's mom. Twice."
  • His super-intimidating threat to beat up Pierce if the promise of his father's arrival is a lie in any way.

...and there will be nothing madcap or wacky about it.

  • Calling the Old Man Out by proxy with Pierce's father, and actually giving him a fatal heart attack.
  • Figuring out the whole yam sabotage plot, including refusing to let Todd take the fall despite everyone hating him.


Pierce

  • His acid trip
  • Having the where-with-all to make sure everyone in the group passed Spanish, by sleeping with the teacher.
  • His stint as a Magnificent Bastard in Dungeons & Dragons, enslaving the Big Bad dragon of the story and ambushing everyone else, then freezing them all.
  • His eulogy for his father, declaring that he's no longer afraid of him, he wins by still being alive, and his dad can suck it.
  • He gets to stick it to his father some more while playing a video game for his inheritance, riding a nuclear bomb into his father's One-Winged Angel form. "LOOK AT ME NOW, DAD!"


Shirley

  • "KICK... HIS... ASS!"
    • "It's December 10th!"
  • Going absolutely medieval on Abed's camera equipment with a baseball bat.
  • Cosplaying as Jules Winfield for Abed's birthday.
  • Showing a skeptical Jeff how great a foosball player she is.
    • Pretty much anything foosball-related she does in that episode is awesome. "KILL OR BE KILLED!"
  • While playing Cornelius' video game, Annie accidently kills a blacksmith. Upon being told that real world morality doesn't apply to video games, Shirley kills the witness to the murder, the blacksmith's wife, steals anything that isn't bolted down, and burns the hut down. In a game she had been playing an hour, two hours tops. Beware the Nice Ones indeed.


Troy

  • Troy deciding to man up, by stripping down to a leotard and helping Britta on stage.
  • The entire last act of "Epidemiology," where he escapes the library, but goes right back inside to save everyone from brain damage, even pushing through his own impending zombiehood after he's bitten, complete with a bunch of Bond One Liners. A very good showing considering his falling victim to Black Dude Dies First in "Modern Warfare."

Abed: Make me proud, Troy. Be the first black man to make it to the end.

  • "We're learning to teleport, and we're helping our friend find the meaning of Christmas!"


Chang

  • The fakeout about his death when the gang started Spanish 102.

I am a man who can never die.


Everybody

  • The massive brawl ensuing from Shirley's CMOA at the end of "Comparative Religion" (the Christmas Episode).
  • The triple-scene at the end of "Environmental Science". Overkill, show.
  • The extended Apollo 13 parody in "Basic Rocket Science, with Abed as Ken Mattingly and everyone else trying to finish the early '80s video game in time to haul the rocket back.
  • The climax of "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas," where everyone improvises a song about the meaning of Christmas while fighting off Duncan's attempt to deny it has meaning.
  • Winning the Model UN meeting by going for a good-looking yet meaningless grand gesture, just like the real UN.
  • Sort of a sequel to their performance of "Somewhere Out There" from season one, the "Kiss From A Rose" scene in Studies In Modern Movement is all kinds of greatness.
  • Jeff and Shirley get so angry during their foosball match in "Foosball and Nocturnal Vigilantism" that they manage to turn it into a Dragon Ball style fight to the death through sheer force of anger.
  • Anytime Jeff gets knocked off his high horse.
  • The Greendale Seven heist.


Secondaries and others

  • From the Season 2 Premiere Betty White's character June Bauer shooting Starburns with a blowdart and then later the weapon she chooses to attack Jeff with while he defends himself with respect.
    • To clarify when Jeff picks respect instead of the 7 tools for the assignmet as what's most important in a group(and gives a heartwarming speech) she reveals they all combine to make an awesome weapon that she uses to choke him with:

Jeff:"I Respect You."
Professor Bauer:"And that is why you fail."

  • Professor Duncan, upon realizing his restraining order against Chang serves as a kind of force-field, proceeds to make Chang's life hell.
    • From the pilot, his prank making Jeff think he would be getting a free ride at Greendale, only to give him a "cheat sheet" that's empty except for "Boo yah."
  • George Takei narrating "Epidemiology," and giving anyone named Kevin a free voicemail message.
  • In "Conspiracy Theories and Interior Design," Professor Garrity coming out on top of the Gambit Pileup the third act devolves into, with the help of his cop friend.
  • Fat Neil rolling a natural 19 to win the group's Dungeons & Dragons campaign and putting Pierce in his place.
  • MEGADEAN!
  • Vice Dean Laybourne's "The Reason You Suck" Speech/Badass Boast to the Dean. John Goodman hasn't been that terrifying since Barton Fink.
  • Starburns getting the entire class to walk out on the Spanish final back in season 1.
  • Gilbert from "Digital Estate Planning" has one every time he shows up, first as a Magnificent Bastard villain who would have won halfway through the episode if Britta hadn't accidentally made a poison instead of a strength potion, and then being the one to take his horrible father down after his Heel Face Turn.


Episodes

"Modern Warfare"

  • Abed's introduction, jumping over Jeff, running on the wall, and plugging Leonard, following it up with the appropriate Terminator reference.
  • Annie ambushing the guys from a bathroom trash can.

Shirley: The lord is my shepherd and I shall not want.

  • Britta sliding between Jeff's legs to save him from the guys about to shoot him
  • Jeff gets multiple.
  • Senor Chang's entire scene was pretty much the CMOA of the episode:
    • Being hired as The Dragon
    • His intro, complete with Chinese Cherubic Choir music, in an obvious shout-out to Chow Yun-Fat, before pulling out his fully automatic paintball gun.

"A Fistful of Paintballs"/"A Few Paintballs More"

  • The Black Rider's entrance, Dual-Wielding paintball shotguns.
    • Ducking under two paintballs before firing in a circle.

Jeff: Who are you?
Black Rider: The guy that's gonna win.

Stormtrooper: Who are you?
Pierce Your mother's lover! *shoots the last two stormtroopers*

  • Shirley walking out of the library and shooting a stormtrooper almost nonchalantly.
    • Driving the golf cart with Britta in tow.

"How about we save this school's ass?"

  • Britta shooting the guy manning the gatling gun.
  • Magnitude's Heroic Sacrifice.
  • Vicki being the first to charge the ice cream truck. Last episode she was afraid to leave the fort.


Others

  • "Pillows and Blankets." Ken Burns meets Community, making a simple pillow fight seem epic.

Music

  • "Somewhere Out There", mashed up with an Irish dance jig, used as the backdrop to its own Crowning Moment of Awesome.
    • Also "I am senor CHANG!"
  • Also, "College is a Party!"
  • Four words: "Donde...esta...la biblioteca..."
    • Four more words: "Kingdom: Animalia ...Phylum: Chordata"
  • "All my boys and all my peeps like to wear nightcaps when they go to sleep!" The full version on the soundtrack is awesome, catchy, and hilarious, with lyrics like "I'm gonna sleep like an old timey dude tonight!"
  • The haunting Chinese song that plays when Senor Chang makes his grand entrance in Modern Warfare. This troper is still trying to find a full version, or even the title, of that.
    • It's called 'Episode 119 Medley,' and is included on the season one soundtrack.
  • Gravity and its awesome tip of the hat to fanvids.
  • The genius that is "Getting Ridda Britta" and "Pierce You're a B."
  • ABBA's greatest hits being the background music to a Zombie Apocalypse in Epidemiology.
    • Best part is definitely the Mamma Mia! bit.
    • Dan Harmon spent $30,000 of his own money to get the rights to ABBA since the Christmas episode was eating up a lot of the music budget.
  • "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas." The whole damn thing.
    • Also "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons." Ludwig Goransson is on a roll this season.
  • The Ennio Morricone style music over the Mexican Standoff in "A Fistful of Paintballs."
  • "We're gonna have more fun and be less weird than the first two years combined!"
  • "Kiss From A Rose", mashed up with Troy and Abed beatboxing, Pierce's piano-dream, and a demented Jesus song.
  • "Christmas infiltration" from "Regional Holiday Music".
    • Also, "Baby Boomer Santa." It's one big homage to music between the 40's and the 90's and making sense in a Glee mash-up kinda way.
  • The epic theme in "Basic Pottery" when the crew of the S.S. Nose Candy saved Pierce from drowning in the parking lot for the second time that day.
  • The "new" theme music to "Advanced Dungeons and Dragons."
    • Also, the ""new" theme music to "Digital Estate Planning."


Crowning Moment of Snark

Jeff: Shirley, don't sue a stripper.
Shirley: Why not?
Jeff: Because she's a stripper. Life sued her and she lost.
