DM of the Rings/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

DM: The walls crack open, and thousands of skulls are unleashed!

Gimli: I'll bet this was a robust culture. Imagine their funerals...

DM: The skulls continue to pour in, filling the room and threatening to crush your nitpicking, over-analyzing characters.

  • Jerkass: Everyone is this in one way or another, but the DM takes the cake! Everyone else's tendencies can essentially be blamed on him anyway... most of their own jerkass moments are sorely provoked by his horrible storytelling.
    • Jerkass Woobie: If you've ever written up material for a batch of unappreciative players, you can find yourself occasionally sympathizing with the DM as he pleads with them just to try reading all the backstory information he gave them. (Of course, he usually ruins this sympathy by taking it way too far, but still.)
  • Just Here for Godzilla: With the exception of Gimli, none of the players give a damn about the story. And even Gimli loses his patience with the horrible pacing and railroading (don't tell The Roleplayer how his character feels.)
