Dark Orbit is a online 2d game with loads of players, where you use a ship to explore space and can fight against other players.

You can upgrade your ship with various equipment, shields and weapons, including weapons that are Too Awesome to Use. Players can teleport to new sectors through portals, but watch out. There can be other players waiting to destroy you at the portal you come out from.

Tropes used in Dark Orbit include:

• Bribing Your Way to Victory - Some players spend a couple hundred dollars to build up their ships and as a result are so powerful that they can kill new players who have no chance against them.
• Level Grinding - Kill others to gain points and become more powerful, again and again.
• Too Awesome to Use - Certain weapons are so powerful it's unbelievable they exist. Some of these have ammo that happens to be incredibly expensive.
