The various public domain monsters of the Darkstalkers/Vampire series are compiled here for your convinence. Names are listed as English/Japanese.

Before we get started, here are a few tropes that apply to (at least) most of the cast.

  • Action Girl: Just about every female playable character.
  • Cool Versus Awesome: The series' reputation for actually adhering to continuity aside, this trope is the backbone of the plot.
  • Cute Monster Girl: Again, all of the playable females, barring B.B. Hood, who's a human (but a monster on the inside).
  • Fan Service: Lots of it.
  • Fantasy Kitchen Sink
  • Names to Run Away From Really Fast: Some of these are blatantly obvious, but the more notable examples will be explained.
  • Our Monsters Are Different/Our Demons Are Different: The demons of Makai are a mixed bag; some of them are classic takes on common monsters, while others stray from the norm. Overlaps with Ninja Pirate Zombie Robot in some cases.
  • Power Levels: The characters of the series are gauged by their strength:
    • Class S Darkstalkers are demons so powerful that can be considered Physical Gods. The Three High Nobles of Makai and Morrigan are all Class S, and Belial, the former ruler of Makai and biggest noble, was a Class S+.
    • Class A Darkstalkers are the exceptionally strong demons, most of them filling the ranks of the Eight Noble Families of Makai.
    • Class B Darkstalkers are the more powerful demons with sufficient training.
    • Class C Darkstalkers are the average demons, which make up the backbone of Makai, and thus one can take down a small army of humans.
    • Class D Darkstalkers are your run-of-the-mill human, and the wild beasts of Makai who may reach the power of Class Bs, but are usually not civilized.
  • Shout-Out: Most of the character's "birth dates" are tied to the legendary creatures they were based on.
    • Morrigan: Morrigan's date of birth (1678) coincides with the first appearance of a succubus in Scotland.
    • Felicia: She was born in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1967. This is most likely a reference to "Curse of the Catwoman", a poem written circa 1967 by Edward Field.
    • Jon Talbain: His surname sounds similar to "Talbot", the surname of the main character from the 1941 film version of The Wolf Man. Talbain was born in 1940. While the titular Wolfman is named Lawrence (nicknamed "Larry"), the film also depicts his father: Sir John Talbot.
    • Lord Raptor: In 1889, "The Country of the Comers-Back" (a.k.a. "Le Pays De Revenants") was an essay depicting zombies published in Harper's Magazine.
    • Victor: Mary Shelley's famous work Frankenstein: A Modern Prometheus was originally published in 1818. Its final revision was in 1830, the birth date of Victor. 101 years later, it was adapted into a film (for the second time; the first film was made in 1910), which launched the career of Boris Karloff. This is the best-known adaptation.
    • Rikuo: His birth date (1953) date of birth coincides with release date of the classic horror film The Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954). The film is centered on an amphibious creature that besieges anyone foolish enough to go out to sea. The creature was played by actor Ricou Browning.
    • Sasquatch: Whereas the typical yeti/Abominable Snowman/Sasquatch/Bigfoot was originally sighted in 1811, Sasquatch was born in 1903. This was the same date that Western scientists discovered Central Africa's breed of mountain gorillas. That same year, a newspaper printed the testimony of a man who said he watched as a man was killed by aborigines, which he said looked like a black man, but covered all over with gray hair.
  • Stripperific: Most prominently seen with Morrigan, Felicia and Lilith.
  • You Sexy Beast: Morrigan, though most of the cast counts.

Demitri Maximoff

Class: Vampire
Origin: Romania
Voiced by: Nobuyuki Hiyama (games), Akio Ohtsuka (Vampire Hunter OVA, Japanese), Paul Dobson (Night Warriors OVA, English), Richard Epcar (Cross Edge, English)

The master of one of the seven noble families of Makai. One day, he challenged Belial Aensland, Morrigan's father, one of the three high nobles, and the ruler of Makai, for the throne. The end result: he was pwned so hard that both he and his castle Zeltzereich were ripped through reality into the human world. For the next 100 years, he was quietly restoring his lost powers all while drinking the blood of unlucky treasure hunters who dared to enter his castle. All of them became his servants.

When he restored most of his powers, Pyron dropped in to conquer Earth, and Demitri used this opportunity to defeat him and absorb Pyron's power. When he felt that he was ready, he returned to Makai, only to find that Belial had died, and the result was a very serious power struggle. Before he could take advantage of it, he and his castle were sucked into the Majigen, the pocket dimension created by Jedah Dohma.

Tropes associated with Demitri Maximoff:

  • Villain Protagonist: He's the main character of the series according to Capcom. He is also a narcissistic and arrogant vampire who views everyone else but himself as nothing but food and wants to take over the demon world.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: He's high nobility and definitely dangerous to know.
  • Arrogant Kung Fu Guy: Before being exiled and more in the present day. He looks on everyone, human and darkstalker, as inferior and below him in any sense. Only a few people have his respect, Morrigan and Jedah being some of them.
  • Attractive Bent Gender: Midnight Bliss.
  • Badass Cape: Which is capable of changing form.
  • Battle Aura: It's also used to protect him from sunlight as he recovers his powers.
  • Blood Knight: Combat and seduction are the only amusements of his endless life.
  • Cape Wings: His cape corresponds to the bat-like wings of his true form. The wings alone are revealed and used during certain attacks, such as Demon Cradle and Negative Stolen.
  • The Dragon: To Pyron in the American cartoon.
  • Evil Duo: He and Morrigan were this in the American cartoon.
  • Flash Step: Has Akuma-styled dashes that make him disappear for a while.
  • Gender Bender: His Midnight Bliss attack will do this to males it's used on, though in some games outside the series proper, it's a little hard to tell with some characters.
  • Large Ham: In the OVA, he has his share of chewing the scenery.
  • Leitmotif: Not only his theme is of the very few ones that was re-used in all the installments aside Morrigan's and Donovan's, but also played in the last bits of his ending in Vampire Savior.
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: Per his upbringing and social status.
  • The Night That Never Ends: He causes this in the OVA. Then comes Pyron to make it all better.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Especially apparent in his endings, where we get close ups of his scowling or fang baring face, red eyes all wide.
  • Ryu and Ken
  • Slasher Smile: Mostly when he unleashes some special attacks like midnight bliss, or is about to win a fight.
  • Spell My Name with an "S": The Udon comics sometimes spell his name as "Maximov" instead of "Maximoff".

The SNK vs. Capcom SVC Chaos games spells it as "Maximov".

  • Tall, Dark and Handsome: What some ladies think anyway.
  • Vampires Are Sex Gods: His way of drinking blood from people is clearly a reference to sexual activity. He himself has a preference for drinking womans' blood and refuses to feed on any other blood. His main target is Morrigan, but unfortunately for him, she is not interested at all in him.
  • Winged Humanoid: His demonic form.
  • Worthy Opponent: Baraba Kreutz, the leader of the royal guardsmen of the Makai's Kreutz clan (as well as Jon Talbain's father). Demitri was said to have seen a certain beauty in his fighting style and even said, "He is my best rival in my life."

Morrigan Aensland

Class: Succubus
Origin: Scotland
Voiced by: Yayoi Jinguji (games), Kathleen Barr (Night Warriors OVA), Yumi Touma (Dengeki Bunko drama CD), Rei Sakuma (Vampire Hunter OVA and drama CD, Gunbird 2), Erin Fitzgerald (Cross Edge, English), Rie Tanaka (Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Japanese), Siobhan Flynn (Marvel vs. Capcom 3, English)

The daughter of Belial Aensland, she was born with power that rivaled S class high nobles. Fearing that that Morrigan would lose control of that power, Belial split her soul in half, taking part of her power. But since the two halves of her soul were trying to return to each other, Belial further split one half of her soul into two in order to weaken the drawing effect. And so Morrigan's soul was split into three: half of the soul was in herself, another 1/4 was sealed in Belial's body and the last 1/4 was sealed in a separate dimension, and it eventually materialized as her "sister" Lilith.

But Morrigan grew up not knowing anything about the above events. She spent her days as a Rebellious Princess, it's only after her father's death that she starts taking things seriously. While trying to end the power struggle in Makai, she was sucked into Jedah's Majigen dimension, where she met Lilith, and after some fighting, reunited with her and gained immense power.

Tropes associated with Morrigan Aensland:

  • Absolute Cleavage: Her iconic outfit technically "only" possesses an Impossibly Low Neckline and a cut-out right below said neckline that, combined, reveal her entire cleavage and the top part of her stomach.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Morrigan gets the worst of this in every adaptation.
    • In the American cartoon, she and Dimitri are working for Pyron to help him take over the world. Although this is not her choice, she's still an evil succubus who wants to destroy the main characters and is malevolent by himself.
    • In the manga Maleficarum, she is less terrible, but still does eat human souls after seducing men. She has never killed a human in canon. She also seduces and almost kills Jon Talbain.
    • In the manga Vampire Savior, her main goal is to fuse with Lilith, but she is willingly to force and threaten her life if it is necessary to accomplish her goal. She also kills a bunch of dark hunters and even attempts to kill the man who Lilith loves along Lilith himself.
    • In the Udon comics. Morrigan's hobby is going around the human world, seducing and killing countless men eating their souls. She's also completely apathetic to the life of humans, to the point she attacks and tries to kill Chun Li after she saves one of her partners from her seduction in a crossover with the Street Fighter comics.
  • Anime Chinese Girl: She dresses as one in one of her winning poses.
  • Anything That Moves: Subverted. Despite all the suggestive comments she has for females just as for males, and being canonically bisexual, Morrigan never truly express desire for anything except men. Although, this trope is played straigth in the sense she'd hit into anything male, even non-humans beings.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: Subverted, she's a Makai high noble, but has been explicitly confirmed as Chaotic Neutral by Capcom.
  • Badass Princess: If only by a technicality. As Belial's handpicked heir, Morrigan is poised to take the throne and become Makai's ruler (what the revival of Jedah, the only remaining High Noble of Makai, entails is unknown).
  • Battle Aura: It's a bit hard to notice, but Morrigan is usually surrounded by a circular blaze of white or green fire.
  • Beauty Is Never Tarnished: The succubus race lives roughly for 400 years. At age 10, they gain their curvy, voluptuous adult forms and retain their beauty even in death. The incubi, on the other hand, were (usually) never attractive to begin with, with 60% of them being gigantic mutant insectoid dragons and all.
  • Big Fancy Castle: Inherited from "daddy". Because of her thrill-seeking nature, Morrigan does not spend much time in it, considering her life in the castle boring and confining.
  • Blood Knight: Combat and seduction are the only amusements of her endless life. She becomes less of this after merging with Lilith as she now seems more interested in taking her duty as heir to the Aensland clan seriously.
  • Breakout Character: Her popularity with fans led to her being included in tons of spinoff and crossover games. By the turn of the century, she was more widely recognized than the entire Darkstalkers franchise! Ironically, given that the goal of a succubus is to seduce mortals, Morrigan may be the most successful of her kind in existence, from a meta and allegorical point of view.
  • Capcom Sequel Stagnation: The living embodiment and prime example of this trope. Her sprite and voice has remained the same in every single installment of the series.
  • Cape Wings: Her clothing can be changed into a multitude of forms at will
  • Combat Stilettos: Not that she walks much or kicks with them, due the changing nature of her clothing.
  • Combat Tentacles: When she's not turning her wings into blades, Morrigan sometimes uses her bats as these. This is made much more explicit in the OVA, manga and Udon comics.
  • Comes Great Responsibility: The main reason Belial seals her powers is that he feels she will lack the maturity and control to use such strength and will turn into a Person of Mass Destruction. Luckily, this is subverted when Morrigan does finally gain back her full powers.
  • Curtains Match the Window: Gorgeous Green Eyes to go along with her gorgeous green hair.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Despite wielding dark powers, she's not an evil demon. Morrigan is still far from good, though.
  • Deuteragonist: She was originally this (with Demitri as the protagonist) until she graduated to Breakout Character.
  • Dimensional Traveler: The only means of travel between the Human World and Makai is a portal located roughly in the middle of Makai (The Gate). Morrigan is unique in that she is the only Darkstalker alive who can bypass this and directly travel to our world without the need to use The Gate.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Most of her victory quotes.
  • Doppelganger Attack: Her Darkness Illusion super and Astral Vision dark force.
  • Double Entendre/Getting Crap Past the Radar: The undisputed queen of this. Lilith, being a part of Morrigan herself, is no slouch in this department either.
  • Dream Stealer: One of her powers, as well as a necessity to help keep herself alive.
  • Evil Duo: She and Demitri were this in the American cartoon.
  • Femme Fatale: A more benevolent version, taking cues from the Good Bad Girl and The Tease. She's the closest you'll get to a heroic Vamp.
    • The American cartoon, on the other hand, turns Morrigan into something of a typical female villain: she's extremely Vain Sorceress (even moreso than in the game) and (with few exceptions; the "curiously attractive" Rikuo is one of them) hates members of the opposite sex. There, she most definitely qualifies as a Vamp.
    • The Udon comics also turns her into a malevolent version of this, since she uses her charms to seduce humans to eat their souls.
  • Foreign Fanservice: HOT SCOT!
  • Fusion Dance: With Lilith, in both of their endings in Vampire Savior, with slightly different results in each. The original ending(s) implied Type 1 (Composite), but this was apparently retconned by Capcom in the pair's following appearances into a mix of Type 2 (Power Booster) and sort-of Type 3 (Switcher), in that while it's Morrigan who is dominant, Lilith has been shown to exist as some sort of Split Personality-like entity, and is able "come out and play" at her own discretion. It should be noted that the Vs. titles are non-canon, and Morrigan's appearances there are supposed to represent the full scale of her powers.
  • Gamer Chick: Shown to be a rather competitive one in an ending to Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.
  • Gratuitous English: Listen to her audio for Soul Fist and Shadow Blade.
  • The Hedonist: It kinda comes with the territory. She is a succubus, after all.
  • Hello, Nurse!: One of her outfits.
  • Horny Devils: She is a succubus, so it's justified. However, most crossovers and darkstalkers games downplay her lust, since she's mostly a thrill seeker and seductress than a sex addict.
  • Friendly Neighborhood Succubi: In canon and crossover appearances, that's it. Morrigan is mostly friendly and seductive around other people (specially humans) and does truly care about her kingdom as well her underlings. Not so much in other adaptations. See Adaptational Villainy above.
  • Impossibly Low Neckline: Justified, as she actually wears part of her own substance as clothes, thus explaining how it manages to not slip off with every breath she takes.
  • Infamous Ancestor: Cartoon-only; she's descended from none other than Morgan le Fay.
  • Kiss of Death: In her non-canon ending to Vampire, she sucks out Pyron's soul (leaving a withered husk) with a kiss.
    • The Udon comics feature her doing this more frequently, It's actually this ability what she uses to steal souls from men instead of seduction in the comics.
  • Living Aphrodisiac: Being a member of the Succubi race, she's able to magically generate intense and spontaneous lust in mortal humans. Only those with strong enough wills can resist her charms.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Finishing Shower.
  • Meaningful Name/Names to Run Away From Really Fast: Named after a figure from Irish/Celtic mythology whose name can mean "great queen", "phantom queen" or "terror". While Morrigan wasn't born in Ireland (she was actually discovered in Scotland), she shares more than a few traits. For one, due to the death of adopted father Belial (as well as the lack of Jedah at the time), Morrigan is technically the ruler of Makai (Belial outright raised her to be the future leader of Makai). The Morrigan is also a goddess of both fertility and war, not unlike Morrigan herself.
  • The Messiah: This is what her adoptive father Belial believes her to be.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Morrigan is one of the best videogames examples. Morrigan isn't really wearing anything to begin with, her "clothes" being just the bats she summons and turns into clothes. Giving her race and personality, this is logical.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: She's originally drawn by Pyron's presence, and later senses Lilith's sadness, prompting her to fuse with Lilith.
  • Naughty Nurse Outfit: One of her cosplays in Pocket Fighter.
  • Naughty Tentacles: Inverted. In this case, it's the sexy, nubile girl who's attacking with the tentacles.
  • Not Even Bothering with the Accent: Whenever Morrigan is given an English voiceover, she usually has an American Accents instead of a Scottish one. To date, the only exceptions inside of the franchise have been the cartoon and the Night Warriors OVA.
  • Out with a Bang: Her bodily fluids (produced by any form of pleasure) can cause instant death.
  • Parental Substitute: Belial adopted a young Morrigan (her parentage is unknown) when he discovered her in Scotland. Sadly, he too would soon pass away.
  • Person of Mass Destruction: The reason why Belial sealed away part of her power when she was born was because of the fear that she might lose control of it and end up destroying the netherworld.
  • Power Floats: Unless she's dashing, Morrigan levitates to approach her opponents.
  • Prehensile Hair
  • Qipao: She wears one in a victory pose.
  • Really Gets Around: Downplayed, surprisingly. While Morrigan is a succubus and thus feeds on sexual action, she, unlike other succubus, can feed from other things like dreams and entertainment. It's because of this that she has never killed a human, which is not saying she never had sex with humans or other species, that's just not her main activity or trait.
  • Really Seven Hundred Years Old: Her official profile lists her birth year as 1678 AD.
  • Rocket Punch: One of her throws.
  • Ryu and Ken: With Demitri, with Lilith being the Sakura.
  • Scotireland: Irish name, has elements characteristic of an Irish/Celtic goddess, Scottish ancestry, Scottish accent.
    • Regarding her accent, in the Darkstalkers Maleficarum manga, Jon Talbain remarks on Morrigan's "strong Glasgow accent".
  • Series Mascot: If not the main character.
  • Sex Is Violence: Justified by the fact that Morrigan needs some sort of stimuli to keep herself alive (apparently, incubi and succubi can't survive for much longer than two full days without pleasure); of course, she'll be enjoying the fight a little bit more than most.
  • Sexy Backless Outfit: It's usually obscured by the wings, but yes.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: Her wings.
  • She Fu: It's Distracted by the Sexy refined into an artform. A particularly lethal artform.
  • She's Got Legs: Played up especially in the OVA.
  • Soul Jar: A humanoid version of one.
    • In her ending in the first game, before absorbing Pyron's soul:
  • ¡Sleep Pyron. Dream of me, and my victory over you. Dream forever, and ever, and ever¡
    • The UDON comic claims that Morrigan's body is a host of sorts for the souls of many humans (her reasoning is that she's giving them pleasure and a reprieve from the hardships of the world; the souls aren't destroyed, but live on within Morrigan in eternal bliss, taking the form of the bats she wears as clothing and her wings). The Udon comics, however, are not canon.
  • Split At Birth: Well, Lilith's birth was a result of Morrigan being split.
  • Statuesque Stunner: Makes the cut at 172 cm/5'8".
  • Stripperiffic: Her standard outfit? It's made of bats that swarm around her and magically transform into a very skintight Leotard of Power and pantyhose/tights combination, with some nearly Detached Sleeves, go-go boots and a feather-frilled, Absolute Cleavage-baring Impossibly Low Neckline. And there is nothing underneath.
  • Taken for Granite: She turns herself into stone to avoid becoming Demitri's slave in his ending.
  • This Is a Drill: Some of her attacks uses her wings to form drills, most notably in her Shell Kick special and Valkyrie Turn super move.
  • Unskilled but Strong: Morrigan never had a way to control her immense power well, to the point Belial had to split her power in three parts to avoid any danger. She also has no defense or knows how to physically fight well, since she relies on her dark powers and shapeshifting abilities to perform her attacks. However, since she is an immensely powerful succubus with power above galactic beings like Pyron and Jedah, she can handle problems. She even defeats Jedah after fusing with Lilith.
  • Upper Class Twit: An insanely powerful demon who just wants to party. She also mixes this with shades of Rebellious Princess (she is the adopted daughter of the former ruler of Makai). For the most part, expect Morrigan to shirk her responsibilities and cause headaches for her caretakers. It isn't until her father dies and especially when she fuses with Lilith that Character Development rolls in, and she begins to feel the need to be responsible.
  • Wave Motion Gun: Her Vs. series-exclusive Soul Eraser.
  • Winged Humanoid: With an extra pair of miniaturized, presumably decorative ones on her head.
  • Wrestler in All of Us: Anyone else want to explain her Vector Drain special?
  • Voluntary Shapeshifter: In the Udon comics, she has the ability to turn herself into human and other forms. She uses this to infiltrate in the human world and trick men into her seduction to eats their souls. She also uses this to fool Lucien (one of her guards) and leave Makai without being noticed.
  • You Gotta Have Green Hair: Seems to be her natural color.

Felicia

Class: Catwoman
Origin: USA
Voiced by: Kae Araki (games), Lisa Ann Beley (Western cartoon), Yukana Nogami (Vampire Hunter OVA, Japanese), Janyse Jaud (Night Warriors OVA, English), Melissa Fahn (Cross Edge, English), Kana Asumi (Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Japanese), Gina Bowes (Marvel vs. Capcom 3, English; credited as G.K. Bowes)

Felicia was raised in an orphanage by a nun named Rose. After Rose passed away, Felicia decided to make a name for herself and left town. Meeting other cat-women along the way, they started a musical group which was a smash hit.

Tropes associated with Felicia:

  • Absolute Cleavage: Very easy when her fur stripes barely even qualifies as an outfit.
  • Adult Child: Has slowly been turned into one thanks to Flanderization.
  • Amazonian Beauty: Zigzagged, although it varies from artist to artist. Her physique can range from a body type akin to Morrigan's to that of a gymnast/olympic swimmer to even that of a figure competitor, but she still remains gorgeous and a capable fighter.
  • Animal Motifs: Take a wild guess...
  • Anime Chinese Girl: She dresses as one in her Pocket Fighter ending, where she was inadvertently casted in a kung fu movie by Ken.
  • Assist Character: The catgirls who appear in her Please Help Me special.
  • Attention Deficit Ooh Shiny: Even if she's just won a fight that brought her within an inch of her life, she can't help but chase any butterflies or mice that happen to show up.
  • Badass Adorable: Although the exact ratio of badass to adorable fluctuates, she's always got plenty of both.
  • Bare Your Midriff: Felicia bares this and a LOT more.
  • Battle Aura: During Rolling Buckler, Rolling Scratch and Tumble Cat (kick throw), she has a green aura visible. If using an alternate palette, the color of this aura will change to match her eye color.
    • This is justified in her EX Charge move where she crouches and emits a battle aura, which manually fills up her Hyper Gauge.
  • Beware the Nice Ones: Just because she chose a pacifistic lifestyle, and just because her motto is always turning the other cheek, it doesn't mean that she cannot punch your head off or cut you into ribbons if you piss her off enough.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: She has a bit of it. She is also fond of tossing horrible puns here and there.
  • Boobs of Steel: At 88cm, Felicia has the largest bust of all the Darkstalkers females, edging out Morrigan by 2cm (it should also be noted that she's bustier than the 87cm Mai Shiranui). She also happens to be the most physically-oriented fighter on the female side and (Depending on the Artist) possesses a more muscular build than the other ladies.
  • Breakout Character: Alongside Morrigan, Felicia's popularity with fans led to her being included in tons of spinoff and crossover games.
  • Cast of Snowflakes: Her seven younger cat girl friends - Alto, Grace, Lucy, Nana, Mimi, Nonno, and Piko - are all given brief backstories in the instruction booklet.
  • Catfolk
  • Catgirl: She is the living embodiment.
  • Cat Smile: Naturally. Depending on the artist, Felicia will flash one from time to time.
  • Celibate Hero: Not explicitly stated, but seeing as she's a nun, she fits the Trope.
  • Combat Pragmatist: This lady fights dirty. One grapple attack involves grabbing with her legs while dicing her foe's face, another involves kicking sand in their eyes. While many fighters in the game have one or two Assist Characters, Felicia has seven. Not exactly fighting fair.
  • Cool Big Sis: Felicia technically becomes this, albeit in an obverted sense of the trope: In her Darkstalkers 3 ending, Felicia becomes a nun and founds the orphanage "Felicity House", and all of the children look up to her.
  • Cool Pet: Plays the role of one to Harry Grimoire in the cartoon, assuming the form of an actual cat to ward off suspicion. In one of the official mangas, Felicia was the "pet" and secret best friend of a rich (and lonely) kid, acting as his bodyguard when two bumbling kidnappers took the kid away. Some chapters later, Felicia meets Jon Talbain and retakes the pet charade after they start living together.
  • Cosplay: Played for laughs but with a more adult tone in the 1996 manga version, where Jon Talbain and Felicia share a tiny apartament, with Jon posing as a plain (and antisocial) human, while Felicia stays in her cute kitty form to avoid attracting unwanted attention. One of their neighbors casually sees Felicia in her normal form, but she assumes Felicia is just a plain woman wearing a sexy cat costume, visiting Jon for some, ah... fetish sex.
  • Cute Little Fangs: Usually. Some older artworks are decidedly less cute about this.
  • Dance Battler: Felicia's both a fighter and an exotic dancer.
  • Does Not Like Shoes: As was shown in the UDON comic, the size and volume of Felicia's feet makes wearing shoes a painful and uncomfortable experience for her.

  • Dying Race: She not the only Cat Woman left (she has several friends who appear in her combos), but her species numbers only in the hundreds. Simply put, Cat Women cannot replenish their species at present; mating with humans only results in human children. Thus, her species is quickly dying out.
  • Exposed to the Elements: Felicia can fight anywhere in her Fur Bikini, be it in the hot depths of the Makai, or the arctic regions of Canada/Japan.
  • Failed Attempt At Drama: Some of her victory poses involve Felicia attempting to strike a dramatic stance, and after a couple of seconds bursting into laughter, getting distracted by moving objects, or having the moment ruined by one of her kitty helpers photobombing out from nowhere.
  • Fan Service: Felicia's entire race, being a race made of nothing but females (Word of God confirms this) who romp around naked all the time and, on top of that, are playful, open-minded beings who consider humans as an interesting race, rather than just seeing them as bastards or a food source as the other characters do. Word of God has said that whenever a Catwoman and a male of whatever species mate, the offspring is always a catgirl. That still doesn't explains the origin of Felicia's race, but it helps a little.

  • Foreign Fanservice: She's an American, and she has the largest bust and hips of the Darkstalkers ladies.
  • For Happiness: Her outlook on life in a nutshell.
  • Friend to All Children: Felicia loves children and wishes to take care of those who cannot defend themselves. In the UDON comic, she brings Jon to the orphanage she grew up in, and the children there were more than happy to see her. Jon also fell into this category after spending a night there.
  • Full-Frontal Assault: Technically, her "costume" being patches of fur grown for a small modicum of modesty.
  • Fur Bikini: In the American cartoon. In everything else, she has nothing but her own naturally-grown fur barely covering certain parts.

  • Jiggle Physics: It's hard to notice at first, but she does indeed have very large breasts (the largest in the series in spite of what the anime and a lot of fanart may suggest), and they are in fact the only ones that bounce. They are bigger than Mai Shiranui's by 1 cm. Just think about it.
  • Killer Rabbit: In one of her supers, Felicia calls for help. Four other catwomen (Pico, Alto, Grace and Lucy) come to her aid and utterly wreck you for messing with Felicia.
    • Even deadlier is her "Everybody Help!" Hyper Combo in Marvel vs. Capcom 3, where all seven of them attack the opponent.
  • Meaningful Name: Felicia (and male name counterpart Felix) means happiness. Fits well for Felicia since she wishes to coexist with humans in peace. There's also the obvious similarity with "feline" too.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Competes with Morrigan on this.
  • Mythology Gag: Her year of birth is given as 1967, the same year Edward Field wrote the poem Curse of the Cat Woman, which can be read here.
  • Naughty Nuns: She becomes a nun in the ending of the third game, just like her foster parent Rose. Subverted, as while she's pretty much naked under that fur, she's merely a Innocent Fanservice Girl.
  • Non-Malicious Monster: Felicia's species is one of the few that are accepted by humans, mostly because she has tried her best to stay in the public spotlight her entire life as a performer. Her goal is peaceful coexistence with them, not just for Cat Women, but for all Darkstalkers.
  • Odd Friendship: Felicia wants nothing more than to befriend humans; Talbain despised them. Despite this wildly different opinion of humans, both are close friends and allies.
  • Older Than They Look: Felicia was born in 1967, so she'd be over 40 right now, but still looks to be in her late teens to early twenties.
  • One-Gender Race: The Catwoman race is Exactly What It Says on the Tin. They're able to reproduce with humans (and have been given rights like ordinary human citizens), but the offspring is always human.
  • Orphanage of Love: Her ending in the third game shows her using her winnings to open one.

Jon Talbain/Gallon

Jonathan Talbain was an orphan living peacefully in England until the night of the full moon, when he experienced his first transformation. He was quickly outcast from society. Thinking that in order to control his inner beast he must control his body, he subjected himself to intense Training from Hell. In time, he succeeded, and while the adults didn't accept him back, the children did.

With the creation of the Majigen, his soul was sucked in, and the beast he had tried for so long to control had resurfaced. In his ending, Talbain came face-to-face with his dark self, and concluding that he can't suppress the beast any longer, goes for another session of Training from Hell.

His Japanese name is actually pronounced "garou", as in the Japanese word for "hungry wolf", as opposed to "gallon", as in "ten-gallon hat".

Tropes associated with Jon Talbain/Gallon

  • Anime Hair: In his human form, he has a bluish-white mane shaped kind of like Sonic's bristles.
  • Big Badass Wolf
  • Bonus Boss: His evil side, which appears in the third game as a palette swapped version with Talbain's moveset from the first game.
  • Bruce Lee Clone: He whips out nunchaku for some of his attacks and has a similar body type as Fei Long in his human form. Additionally, he has similar kicks, a variation of the one-inch punch, a dragon-themed technique, and howls that sound an awful lot like Bruce's famous high-pitched yells. In short, if Bruce Lee became a werewolf, he'd be Jon Talbain.

Bishamon

In Feudal Japan, he came upon a cursed armor called Hannya and a forbidden sword called Kien in his friend's antique shop. The next thing he realizes, he is at home. After some looking around, he finds out that he forcefully took the set from the shop owner, but he doesn't remember, nor has any idea why he did it. For several weeks, Bishamon just stared at the armor, like he was in a trance despite concerns from his wife. Then one day, he donned the armor, and all hell broke loose. The armor possessed him, and started a massacre that continued for days. When Pyron came to Earth, the energies produced by him overloaded the armor, and Bishamon was set free. Vowing to prevent Hannya from taking more lives, he hides the armor and the sword, and he and his wife become monks.

During the events of Darkstalkers 3, Hannya and Kien were sucked into the Majigen, where the overflowing spirit energies allowed Hannya to manifest itself once again. It took the form of Bishamon, as the armor had become accustomed to that form, but before it could begin another massacre, the real Bishamon sealed it away.

He has an alternate form in Darkstalkers 3 called "Oboro Bishamon", which is what would have happened if Bishamon had mastered controlling the cursed armor, and fights you as a Secret Final Boss if you get enough super finishes and perfects.

  • And I Must Scream: It's implied that Bishamon has full knowledge of the atrocities he committed while under the influence of Hannya and Kien, thus leading to...
    • The Atoner: ...him becoming a monk alongside his wife O-rin after being freed from the armor by Pyron's death. He started a practice known as Roppoudou in order to cleanse his mind, and later ventures to seal away his now-Animated Armor to prevent anyone from experiencing the pain he went through.
  • Animated Armor: In Vampire Savior.
  • Belly Mouth: His armor has a face on the chestplate.
  • Blood Knight: His armor Hannya is a jealous, hate-filled demon, while his sword Kien craves for blood.

Anakaris

Class: Mummy
Origin: Egypt

The former ruler of an Egyptian empire. Foreseeing his death, he orders his servants to build a pyramid that will resurrect himself. One year later, after the pyramid was completed, the empire was invaded and Anakaris was killed in battle. His body was placed in the pyramid's chamber of revival as instructed.

Thousands of years later, Pyron's visit awakens Anakaris from his long slumber. He fights Pyron to restore his powers and using time-travel, he goes back to his time, one year after his death, to resurrect himself and beat back the invaders. He succeeds and conquers them.

Some time later, he hears a voice from the future. Deciding to check it out, he travels there and enters Jedah's Majigen, where he learns that the destruction of his empire is unavoidable. He travels back, and the empire is erased from history, when in reality, Anakaris transfers his entire empire into another dimension located somewhere under the Earth, to avoid wars above ground.

Tropes associated with Anakaris:

  • Ancient Egypt: From an empire of the geographic origin that was conquered and later "erased" from history.
  • Animal Motifs: Snakes: as seen in his Cobra Blow attack, where his face and arms morph into a serpentine shape.

Lord Raptor/Zabel Zarock

Class: Zombie
Origin: Australia
Voiced by: Yuji Ueda (games), Koichi Yamadera (Vampire Hunter OVA, Japanese), Scott McNeil (Western cartoon and Night Warriors OVA)

During his life, Raptor was a successful, if niche, rock star who captivated his audience with his enigmatic voice. Under the curtains, he was a cultist who incorporated the cultic text into his songs, which influenced the audience. During his final live "Sacrifice", he took his own life and the lives of 100 fans. This caught Ozom's attention, who resurrected Raptor as his servant, but Raptor planned to overthrow Ozom when he got powerful enough. Ozom himself knows this and have sent LeMarta to keep an eye on him.

When he returns from another errand, Raptor discovers that Ozom's castle has disappeared (see Jedah's section below), and he was sucked into Majigen shortly after.

He has a thing for Hsien-Ko while Le Malta has a thing for B.B. Hood.

Tropes associated with Lord Raptor/Zabel Zarock:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Rare male example—in Hsien-Ko's eyes, at least. In this concern, he would rather think of himself as a Kavorka Man.
  • Alliterative Name: His name in the Japanese consoles, as you can see above.
  • Assist Character: La Malta, during Hell Dunk and Dark Force.
  • Ax Crazy: A more literal one than most, since he plays an ax. On the other hand, his cultist practices did pay off exactly how he wanted them to, so one could argue that, in spite of his violent ways, there was some basis to his crazy behavior.
  • Be the Ball: Happens to the opponent during Zabel's Hell Dunk EX move. Le Malta, ever the faithful Swiss Army Knife-esque companion, serves as the basketball hoop.
  • Chainsaw Good: Many of his attacks involve him transforming parts of his body into chainsaw blades. During his "Ultimate Undead" Dark Force, Le Malta turns into a chainsaw which Zabel wields in a more conventional fashion.

  • Faux Affably Evil: He is a dangerously homicidal living dead, but that doesn't stop him from being one of the most hilarious characters in fighting game history.

Lord Raptor: What? Go to hell!? I just came from there!

  • Fingerless Gloves: Presumably, they let him play the guitar better than full fingered ones. In his first life, anyway; now they just exist to show how there is no longer any skin on his fingers.
  • I Was Quite a Looker: Really. Some win-poses and artwork show his "living days" appearance, which is far more flattering than that of his current form.
  • Land Down Under: His homeland.
  • Laughing Mad: Most notably in Vampire Savior, when he does the Pursuit move or Death Hurricane in EX status.
  • The Mirror Shows Your True Self: For a brief moment in the OVA.
  • Musical Assassin: Especially in backstory, where he stole the souls of a hundred members of his audience during a concert.
  • Not Quite Flight: From Vampire Hunter/Night Warriors onwards, he has a similar ability to Hsien-Ko.
  • Older Than They Look: Word of God states his birthdate is 1889; however, the heavy metal genre would only appear in the beginning of the 70's, and given he was a heavy metal rocker during his life, this throws a complete contradiction in his backstory.

  • Phlebotinum Overload: His Vampire Savior ending is a humorous take on this.
  • The Power of Rock: Le Malta takes the form of a large amplifier during one of Zabel's Guard Cancel moves.
  • Rock Me, Asmodeus: Judging from his backstory alone, Raptor was a one man cult leader who used the curses and spells from the Chapter of Tolgaido, an ancient Hebrew book detailing the customs of Makai, to gain his backing with mind control and hypnotizing his followers to his whim. After his grand finale to gain ultimate power, he now receives backing from Ozom and Le Malta, one of the three empires of Makai. There is much Truth in Television in this interpretation of metal and rock music; back around the 1970's and 1980's, metal garnered a great deal of opposition by Christian morality groups for breaking from the norm and going into detail about darker subjects, including the negativity of life and satanism, which they came to claim that such bands were cultists who used music to spread their word. One famous urban rumor in that playing metal and rock records backwards reveals subliminal messages to worship the devil even plays into Raptor's backstory as well. Either way, Lord Raptor's got the last laugh in this regard, and still shreds a mean guitar into the distance.
  • Shout-Out: In his Dark Force special, Raptor fuses LeMarta with his right hand and turns it into a chainsaw, looking just like Ash.
    • The short jingle played upon the activation of his Dark Force sounds suspiciously like the intro to Michael Jackson's "Bad".
  • Spell My Name with an "S": Some sources, even at this very wiki, refer to him as "Lord Rapter".
    • Le Malta gets this too, as he's sometimes referred to as Le Marta or La Malta. Sources also flip flop between whether or not there's a space in his name (Le Malta vs. LeMalta).
  • The Starscream: His ending in the first game states that he is just waiting the best opportunity to back-stab Ozom and take over his place. Most prominently in the American cartoon, where he occasionally tries to double-cross Pyron.
  • This Is a Drill: His move (well, duh) Death Drill.
  • Zombie Gait: His air dash is a particularly ridiculous (and awesome) example.


Victor von Gerdenheim

Class: Golem (based on Frankenstein's monster)
Origin: Germany
Voiced by: Kan Tokumaru (games)

He is a creation of a professor of the same name, who died some time after Victor's birth. Victor, not understanding the concept of death, thought that the professor was ignoring him, and decided that the best way for the professor to accept him was to become the strongest in the world. That failed, but that didn't matter since he had met his "older" sister, the prototype Emily. Emily wasn't supposed to be functioning due to her time-limited power problems, but Victor's self-generating electricity leaked enough power for her to be constantly activated. Afterward, they lived in peace for a time...

... until Emily suddenly stopped functioning from the strain of living for a longer amount of time than she was supposed to. When the Majigen appears, Victor decides that in order to bring her to life, he must gather the wandering souls and inject their spiritual energies into Emily. In his ending, he succeeds, but dies as his own soul was the last one that had to be implemented.

Tropes associated with Victor von Gerdenheim:

  • Artificial Human: He's a biological version of this.
  • Ass Kicks You: Victor is unfortunately very fond of this. He even uses his ass to squeeze and throw opponents. He is also capable of making his body parts grow to several times their normal size—including the aforementioned posterior.
  • Creating Life: Victor and his "sister" Emily were created by Professor Victor von Gerdenheim.
  • Dead Little Sister: Emily.
  • Dumb Muscle: As stated, he does not understand the concept of death.
  • Fashionable Asymmetry: His one-sleeved jacket.
  • Fingerless Gloves: Perhaps to better fit with his frequently shifting body mass.
  • Frankenstein's Monster: An odd one, in that he can produce more electricity than the lightning bolt that supposedly animated him.

Rikuo/Aulbath

Rikuo was the ruler of a peaceful kingdom of merfolk, but the arrival of Pyron caused the underwater earthquakes and volcanoes that destroyed the kingdom. Believing that he was the last of his kind, he sets out for revenge until he meets a mermaid named Aqueria. Overjoyed, he marries her and sets aside his goal of revenge to start a new kingdom.

Encouraged and believing that there are other survivors, he starts searching for them. This results in spending less time with his family. One day, one of his sons, Ricky/Alba, vanishes. He curses himself and contemplates how he could protect his own kingdom if he cannot protect his family. Believing that his son disappeared into the Majigen, he starts his search there.   • Even the Guys Want Him: A recurring gag in the US cartoon was that he was repeatedly told that he was "curiously attractive for a Fishman." The thing is though that a large portion of these compliments came from the male Darkstalkers. By the last episode, Rikuo wearily replies to the comment with a sigh and "So I've been told".

Sasquatch

Sasquatch is the most noble of his tribe. When Pyron comes down, Sasquatch's community starts to be constantly attacked by other Darkstalkers, making Sasquatch go on a journey to defend his fellow bigfeet from their enemies. After he defeats Pyron, he convinces his tribe to realize an invasion against the human civilization. However, the plan is aborted when they learn that humans have bananas in their food supplies. A friendly alliance was then formed between Sasquatch's tribe and the humans.

After returning from one journey to human civilization, Sasquatch finds a huge hole where his village is supposed to be. Believing that his friends were captured and taken to Makai, he goes into Majigen to rescue them. When he finds them, he discovers that his friends... willingly allowed themselves to be captured in exchange for a lot of bananas.

Tropes associated with Sasquatch:

  • An Ice Person: Many of his attacks, including Big Brunch, where he swallows the enemy, leave them frozen for a time.
  • Assist Character: Let's see, he has a whale, explosive penguins, a pack of dogs...
  • Ass Kicks You: Featured in his EX move Big Sledge.
  • Banana Peel: As laughable as it sounds, he really has a special move where he damages one opponent by making them slip on a banana peel.
  • Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti: He is a big foot named Sasquatch and is associated with arctic climates like a yeti.
  • Boisterous Bruiser: Actually a little smaller than most examples but loud and ready to engage in battle. This eventually leads him to try and rally his fellow bigfeet to start a war to take over the world. They rest of them are a peaceful people though, so it probably would not have worked even if they did not reach a common agreement with the humans.
  • Breath Weapon: His Big Breath and Big Snow attacks can freeze his enemies.
  • Delicious Distraction: Bananas, and how. Jedah didn't even have a struggle to kidnap Sasquatch's tribe at all.

Huitzil/Phobos

Class: Robot
Origin: Mexico

Huitzil is one of many robots created by Pyron. Their main mission was to destroy all life forms on Earth, and so they killed all of the dinosaurs and went into hibernation. They were later found by the Mayans and were used by them. Shortly before Pyron came down, one Huitzil model was assigned the task of evaluating the situation on Earth, and in his ending, the verdict is to cleanse Earth of any non-aboriginal human.

In Majigen, Huitzil was sucked in along with a child named Cecil, and a bug in its programming made it protect Cecil, but since everything in Majigen is potentially dangerous to Cecil, it results in, to quote Hardcore Gaming 101: "basically going on a killing spree across Majigen while taking Cecil for the ride."

Tropes associated with Huitzil/Phobos:

  • Assist Character: In Vampire Savior 2, one of his specials consists of other three Huitzil units coming down to assist him with Beam Spam moves.
  • Bamboo Technology: Although discovered by the Mayans and later sealed within Teotihuacan, it turns out that Huitzil and his kind were created by Pyron 65 million years ago.
  • Beam Spam: As the only character with a laser move as a normal special, you're going to run into this quite a bit.

Phobos, a figure from Greek mythology, was the son of Ares (God of War) and Aphrodite (Goddess of Love), as well as the personification of fear itself. He usually accompanied dear ol' dad onto the battlefield.
  • Not Quite Flight: From Vampire Hunter/Night Warriors onwards, he has a similar ability to Hsien-Ko.
  • One-Man Band: Does this during one of his winposes. Apparently, he's full of musical instruments as well as weapons.

Pyron

Coming from the planet Hellstorm, Pyron lived for millions of years and evolved into a cosmic being. He decides to consume planets/collect them as jewelry. He came to Earth during the time of the dinosaurs and created the Huitzil army to kill them. Why he didn't take Earth back then is not known, but 1 million years later, he comes back to Earth, only to be defeated and consumed by Demitri.

Tropes associated with Pyron:

  • Anti-Villain (Type I)/Noble Demon: Moreso in the home ports of the third game. See Intrigued by Humanity below.
  • Battle Aura: Pyron constantly oozes a literal FLAMING battle aura as he is LIVING FLAME.
  • Big Bad: Of the first two games since they had pretty much the same story with game play changes and the OVA.

Donovan and his mother were outcast in the village they lived due to his cursed blood. One day, something triggered his vampire form, and he lost control of himself killing many people including his mother. Stricken with grief and cursing his heritage, he goes into exile and devotes himself to Buddhism, but fails to achieve peace. During his travels, he makes a name for himself as a Vampire Hunter. He later meets Anita, an emotionless girl, and trying to restore her humanity, he slices the head of Anita's doll off. This awakened Anita's anger, and his plan succeeded. Taking her with him, he sets out to emotionally awaken her. Ironically, this is eventually achieved by him losing to his dark side, which prompted her to shed genuine tears. It's still unclear if he truly lost to his dark side or if he is fighting back.

That dark side is later represented as another, possibly non-canon character called Dee, who is basically just Donovan's head on Demitri's body with a combination of his and Demitri's moves. In his ending, he encounters a teenaged Anita, but the outcome of the encounter is not shown.

The twins Hsien-Ko and Mei-Ling (Lin-Lin in Japan) were born to a family of Senjutsushi spiritualists. One day, their family was attacked, and the twins' mother, in order to save them, banished the monsters by sacrificing herself, sealing her soul in the darkness. The twins wanted to save their mother's soul, and in order to do that, they performed a magic spell that turned Hsien-Ko into a Kyong-Shi, and turned Mei-Ling into the sealing ward that prevents Hsien-Ko from going berserk, taking the form of a seal. They set out to hunt monsters and in general doing good deeds (to earn enough brownie points for their mother--Hardcore Gaming 101).

After releasing their mother's soul from darkness, they were reincarnated as normal girls. During their 16th birthday, their powers from their past life activated, gaining Jedah's attention and sucking them into Majigen. Their souls took the forms of their former bodies, and they fight for their survival with their new-found powers (they don't have memories from their past-life). In the end, they returned to their normal lives.

Q-Bee

Q-Bee is a leader of the Soul Bee race that, obviously, feasts on souls in order to live. They live within the Dohma territories, but after Jedah's death, the lands began to die off. Souls became sparse, and the Soul Bees faced the danger of extinction. But then Jedah came back and used his Castle and nearby lands to create the Majigen, where many souls were gathered. Q-Bee, seeing one giant Soul Feast in Majigen, goes with her people to feed.

In her ending, the soul bee's numbers skyrocket, leading to them taking over the Makai, but it's suggested that their overpopulation may ironically result in their own extinction.

Tropes associated with Q-Bee:

  • Anything That Moves: Possibly unintentional, but she has the same suggestive win quotes against male and female characters.
  • Authority Equals Asskicking: Regular soul bees are much smaller and less powerful than she is. Also, she's technically a noble of Makai, if not actually of the lineage, which means she might be on par with full power Demitri and Pyron!
  • Bee-Bee Gun: One of Q-Bee's EX moves turns a regular opponent into one that is covered in bees. "A deadly Bee Weapon. Bees. My God." That's Hilarious in Hindsight if we've ever seen it.
  • Bee People: Currently provides the page's image.
  • Big Eater: Q-Bee, always looking for souls to nourish her and the Soul Bee species, who are endangered. It's also been stated that she can literally eat anything, and that if she goes 48 hours without food, she'll die.
  • Button Mashing: One of her moves where she swings her sting multiple times against the opponent.
  • Chest Burster: One of Q-Bee's moves involves her injecting eggs into an opponent, cocooning them, dying, and then hatching back out of the opponent's body.

Baby Bonnie Hood/Bulleta

There are many monsters who came from Makai to the Human world, and in the Human world, there are those who want these creatures dead or captured for their own purposes. The Hunters Guild was established to meet the demand of this clients. Among those Dark Hunters, there is B.B. Hood, a Special S Class hunter, a human with such darkness in her heart that even lower level Makai monsters shake in fear from meeting her gaze. This gained Jedah's interest, and she was sucked into Majigen, where a normal human would die instantly, but her reaction: "It's been a long time since I had a job this big."

Her dog's name is Harry, which funnily enough was the name of the main character of the American cartoon adaptation.

Tropes associated with B.B. Hood/Bulleta:

  • Assist Character: John and Arthur, the two bulky hunters that appear in her Dark Hunt Super Combo. (Fans often give them the last names Smith and Wesson, but they have no last names in-game.) There's also a guy who appears in her winning poses named Mr. K.
  • Ax Crazy: It is implied that is actually her extreme malevolence that allows her to damage Darkstalkers rather than the weaponry alone.
  • Badass Adorable: In looks only.
  • Badass Normal: The only thing about her that isn't of perfectly normal human caliber is what a ruthless sociopath she is.
  • Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: And how.
  • Blondes Are Evil
  • Bounty Hunter: She's a S-Class Darkhunter, a bounty hunter that specializes in chasing things that go bump in the night. Very, very evil.
  • Break the Cutie: She's implied to be some Grimmified depiction of Little Red Riding Hood who suffered due to the possible death of her grandmother (see her Sweet Memory super), thus giving her a Freudian Excuse for her actions.   • Parts Unknown: Unlike most other characters in the series, her country of origin is never specified in Capcom's official Darkstalkers Graphic File, and is simply listed as "Northern Europe" in her bio, which could be anywhere from Finland, Denmark, the U.K., Norway, etc. The anglicized nature of her name (Bonnie Hood) implies a U.K. origin as being the most likely.
  • Pint-Sized Powerhouse: This is a game where some fighters are over seven feet tall; Bonnie is only 4'8', and she is capable of lifting and body-slamming any of them during one of her specials.

Lilith Aensland

Roughly ten years after 1/3 of Morrigan's soul was sealed in an isolated space, it became self-aware. For the next 300 years, its awareness and feelings grew, and eventually, so did its instinct to return home. When Jedah created the Majigen, it also drew in this soul. When Jedah noticed it, he struck a deal with it: the soul would gain a physical form and in return, it must lure Morrigan and the other Darkstalkers to him. And thus Lilith was born, the childish, cheerful, flat chested version of Morrigan, who goes to find her "sister".

After meeting Morrigan, she becomes a part of her sister.

As she (for the most part) physically resembles Morrigan (being her "sister" and all), several of the tropes found in Morrigan's entry apply to Lilith as well.

Tropes associated with Lilith:

  • A-Cup Angst: Moreso due to her feelings as an incomplete Morrigan. She could make herself just as pneumatic as her sister. Oddly enough, in Pocket Fighter/Super Gem Fighter: Mini Mix (the Super-Deformed cousin of Street Fighter), Lilith seems to attract all the men, making Morrigan (to whom this ending belongs) jealous.
  • Adaptational Villainy: Similar to Morrigan, she is completely uncaring and cruel to humans in the Udon comics. This despite not having killed any human in canon just like Morrigan. She is also far more sadistic and less innocent than she was in the games, were she only followed Jedah on his plan to get back at Morrigan and had no idea about his scheming, in the comics she is totally willingly to help him to achieve his goal if he gets her and Morrigan united again. Unlike games, she doesn't even really changes her ways, as she only agrees to help Morrigan and the rest of the characters to defeat Jedah and Jill to get Morrigan to accept to fuse with her.
  • Anything That Moves: She has the same suggestive win quotes against male, female and "other" characters.
  • Artificial Succubus: She has a soul, or part of one, but her body is artificial.
  • Badass Adorable: Still strong enough to count as a Makai noble despite being less powerful and younger looking than Morrigan.
  • Breast Expansion: What happens when she's on the receiving end of Jedah's Sange Passare.
  • Cloning Blues: When Lilith finds out she is derivative of another being and that her body--created by Jedah—will not last, she desperately tries to find Morrigan to inhabit, to survive.
  • Clothing Damage: Self-inflicted, no less! One attack of hers sends all of the bats that make up her clothing into a whirlwind to attack her opponent. The end result is what you'd expect.
  • Combat Stilettos: Not that she uses them much for this effect or that they would even act as much hindrance to a flier like herself.
  • Creating Life: Albeit serendipitously; originally 1/3 of Morrigan's power, she developed self-awareness after being sealed away by Belial for so long. Jedah, discovering this, created a body for her and convinced her to work for him. See Cloning Blues above.
  • Dark Is Not Evil: Think Morrigan, but even more benevolent. The only reason she was following Jedah in 3 was due to Jedah's manipulation. Averted in the comic adaptation, where she pretty much plays this trope straight.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Most of her victory quotes.
  • Doppelganger Attack: Her Luminous Illusion super and Mirror Doll dark force.
  • The Dragon: To Jedah, as strange as it may seem. She's the one who lures most of the others to Majigen.
  • Enemy Without/Shadow Archetype: As she is a part of Morrigan's soul that was separated from her by Belial, this is the logical conclusion of her self-awareness.
  • Fille Fatale: She's essentially a younger version of Morrigan, so this was to be expected.
  • Fusion Dance: See Morrigan's entry.
  • Genki Girl: In fact, her behavior sometimes boarders on infantile
  • Horny Devils: Less than Morrigan, but still an example.
  • Impossibly Low Neckline: Since it is a copy of her "sister's" outfit.
  • Little Miss Badass: Technically speaking...
  • Meaningful Name: Lilith, originally appearing in myths as a Mesopotamian storm demon who was associated with the element of wind and a bearer of disease, illness and death, is known in Jewish folklore as Adam's first wife (apparently, Eve was his Second Love) who refused to become subservient to him. She is usually referred to as a succubus herself.
  • Ms. Fanservice: Though underdeveloped and projecting an underage appearance, she still shows off a lot.

  • Playboy Bunny: She dresses like one during her Gloomy Puppet Show EX move.
  • Really Three Hundred Years Old: Just a little younger than Morrigan, who was born in the 1600s.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Subverted. She's a cheery, happy-go-lucky girl who is being misguided by Jedah.
  • Sense Freak: Lilith is overwhelmed by suddenly having a body.
  • Screw Yourself/Twincest Sisters Incest: With Morrigan.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: Her wings.
  • Shotoclone: Sakura variant.
  • Situational Sexuality: Lilith's body is not permanently set as a female, and can possibly switch between both.
  • Split At Birth: Her birth was the split, actually.
  • Stripperiffic: Basically a lolita-style version of Morrigan's outfit with a different colour scheme. She is technically a loli version of Morrigan, after all.
  • Winged Humanoid: Similar to Morrigan.
  • You Gotta Have Purple Hair: Even though she was cloned from someone with green.
  • Zettai Ryouiki: One of her post-match poses has her wearing a grade-B, with striped socks and a leather skirt and jacket.

Jedah Dohma

Class: Demon Lord/Ressurected as Dark Messiah
Origin: Makai (Hell)

The Vampire Savior, The Distressed Lord of Death. The youngest of the three high nobles, Jedah was the one most concerned about the future of Makai. Believing that under the rule of Belial it would be stagnant, Jedah sought every chance he could that would help in overthrowing Belial. Ozom, his adviser, suggested to absorb the leaking energy of the Gate, a distortion that connects Makai with the human world. While Jedah was absorbing the leaked energy, Ozom discovered that if he opened the gate further, it would leak so much energy that it would overload Jedah and kill him. So he decided to overthrow him right then and there, and just like he predicted, Jedah couldn't handle it. Ozom then collected what was left of Jedah's power and proclaimed himself Emperor of Makai.

100 years later, Jedah managed to revive himself. Seeing the state of Makai at the peak of a power struggle, he decided that in order to save it he must cleanse all the souls in Makai, and for this, he created the Majigen (using Ozom and the his Castle—formerly Jedah's--as a foundation), the pocket dimension where the strongest of souls will gather.

Tropes associated with Jedah Dohma:

  • Anti-Villain: Type III.
  • Aristocrats Are Evil: He's only remaining member of Makai's Three High Nobles.
  • Assimilation Plot: His ultimate goal in order to stop the constant wars plaguing Makai is to unite all of the demonic souls within himself, reset reality, and create one perfect being (the Shintai, which appears to take the form of a deranged, monstrous fetus).
  • Big Bad: Of 3.
  • Bishonen: Well, he is supposed to be the young one and does rapidly regenerate, anyway.
  • Black Blood: He specializes in this, since he uses his own blood as a weapon.
  • Blond Guys Are Evil
  • Bloody Murder: A good deal of his attacks involve tearing himself apart and instantly regenerating while bleeding all over the place.
    • Gorn: As cool as it might be, the graphic elements of his attacks are also the one thing holding Jedah back from being in some of Capcom's later games; animating his techniques in 3D would make Mortal Kombat look like Clay Fighter by comparison.
  • Dark Messiah: Among the residents of Makai, a popular belief is that it is the body of God. So, think back about what Jedah plans to do to it again? A plan that basically involves creating a giant Antichrist. Many characters in Marvel Vs. Capcom Infinite outright call him this trope.
  • Evil Is Visceral: Jedah fights by mutilating himself and using his tissues and blood as weapons(for example, he'll make claws by cutting the joints of his fingers and stretching them in lines of blood, as well as attack with a spray of blood by DECAPITATING HIMSELF). His stage is the inside of a giant womb, complete with giant demonic fetus in the background.
  • Evil Laugh: Mostly as a beginning to his Laughing Mad moments.
  • Extremity Extremist: He never kicks, although he uses scythe-wings as substitutes.
  • Eye Scream: Again, self-inflicted, as one of his win poses has him ripping his own eyes out and Laughing Mad.
  • Femme Fatalons: And he's a dude.
  • Gratuitous Italian: The names of his moves.
  • The Grim Reaper: Though he makes the iconic scythe by ripping off his own wings, he is known as the lord of death.
  • Knight Templar: He is going to destroy the demon world and all sense of individuality in it, in order to bring an end to both war and "stagnation".
  • Laughing Mad: During many of his attacks, he is absolutely giddy.
  • Losing Your Head: One of his moves, Spregio, has him doing this to himself!
  • Man of Wealth and Taste: He is one of the three highest nobles of Makai, so it would be stranger if he was not.
  • My Significance Sense Is Tingling: He can sense the powers of other beings on a cosmic scale.
  • Not Quite Flight: A similar ability to Hsien-Ko.
  • Ominous Latin Chanting: Played during his intro in the last stage of the third game.
  • Phlebotinum Overload: His background story.
  • Physical God: All of the Three High Nobles were at least Class S-level Darkstalkers, qualifying for this status. Jedah is no exception. Aside from Morrigan (when her soul is whole again), and maybe Dee and Anita, Jedah is the strongest living member of the cast.
  • Pop Goes the Human: The Sange Passare throw, where he fills his opponent with blood. Exactly what part of them is filled up depends on the character, some of which are amusing to see (such as Lilith's impromptu boobjob).
  • Razor Wings: Jedah has sickle-like wings.
  • Really Seven Hundred Years Old: He's the youngest of the Three High Nobles of Makai, which means that his age is at least in quadruple figures.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: An appropriate warning, too, considering his fighting style.
  • Shape Shifter: Has a liquid body. Doesn't help much when you see his head come off.
  • Shapeshifter Weapon: His wings mostly. His entire body in the storyline.
  • Sinister Scythe: He produces them from his body. His standing HK (named as Falce Morte/Scythe Death in Cross Edge) is a clear example of this, and during his Nero Fatica (Black/Dark Fatigue).
  • The Stoic: Until he goes Laughing Mad, that is.
  • Treacherous Advisor: To Lilith.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Jedah really wants to save the planet... by resetting all of creation.
  • Winged Humanoid: To an extent; Jedah's wings are actually not attached to his body.
  • Womb Level: His stage, the Fetus of God, is literally a fleshy structure, complete with an actual fetus resting in the background. It provides the trope picture, by the way, so click at your own risk.
