Dead Rising 3

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Dead Rising 3 is the third entry in the Dead Rising franchise (excluding remakes or spinoffs).

Tropes used in Dead Rising 3 include:
  • Bad Boss: General Hemlock isn't a father to his men like one might expect from a general. Instead, he decides to sacrifice one to make the president's death and zombification seem like it wasn't caused by him.
  • Bastard Boyfriend: Averted. General Hemlock claims that he wouldn't be an abusive boyfriend to Mallon if she gave him a chance...but she didn't. He also points out that other men wouldn't be interested in her...which isn't wrong for him to say given her personality.
  • Big Bad Duumvirate: General Hemlock and Marian Mallon, though Hemlock decides to betray Marian Mallon.
  • Contrasting Sequel Character: Nick is younger than Frank and Chuck, and is immune to the virus.
    • On the villain's side, there's General Hemlock. While he's similar to Brock Mason, Brock Mason was at least loya,
  • Evil Cripple: Marian Mallon is still a cripple after ten years...even though she has access to state-of-the-art technology at this point in time.
  • Face Heel Turn: Red decides to sell out Nick to Marian (and by extension Phenotrans) in exchange for money. Instead, he pays with his life.
  • Kick the Son of a Bitch: It's scary to watch General Hemlock toss Marian off a building...and yet, it's also satisfying to watch.
  • The Immune: Unlike Frank and Chuck, who are resistant to the virus but are not immune, Nick is totally immune to the zombie virus. This leads to him being targeted by Marian Mallon for this reason.
  • Meaningful Name: Annie just so happens to be similar to the middle name of Katey Ann Greene.
  • Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: General Hemlock gets fed up with Marian's mistreat of him, and decides to toss her off a building.
  • Non-Action Big Bad: Marian Mallon is this. This is not the case with General Hemlock though. He's the final boss!
  • Properly Paranoid: Annie has been criticized for her decision not to wear a Zombrex chip like everyone else, even though it puts other people at risk. But it turns out that she wasn't wrong not to trust Phenotrans. Marian Mallon started another outbreak.
