A 2012 videogame, developed by Team Ninja and published by Koei Tecmo. A installment of the Dead or Alive series.

Two years after the events of Dead or Alive 4, Helena Douglas has rebuild DOATEC, but wishing to use its resources in a more benevolent way. To rebuild their public image, she decided to host a new Dead or Alive tournament, obviously. While this is happening, Kasumi's clone Alpha-152 is still roaming around, and the ninja characters, including Kasumi herself, are trying to find her, unconcerned with the tournament.

Tropes used in Dead or Alive 5 include:

• Alas, Poor Villain: Ryu laments the death of the False Kasumi after she is killed by Ayane and Hayate.
• Amnesiac Hero: New character Rig only remembers his life from a point where he was already working on DOATEC's oil platform.
• And Now For Something Completely Different: In the final chapters, you play as Ryu against Alpha-152 without even having Kasumi as your tag partner in her segment of the story, unlike every other chapter of the game, where at least the character the segment is about is part of a tag team.
• Bloodless Carnage: At least one character is killed, but no blood is seen.
• Co-Dragons: Both Christie and Rig are working for Donovan, though isn't made clear if Christie is aware that Rig is faking his amnesia.
• Disappears Into Light: What happens to the False Kasumi once she is killed.
• Meaningful Name: M.I.S.T., an organization funded by Victor Donovan, whose acronym name is the world in english equivalent to "Kasumi". They create several clones of her as weapons.
• Nipple-and-Dimed: Only the male characters expose their nipples. Specially egregious in the case of Alpha-152 since she is technically naked.
• Panty Fighter: Yeah, you're gonna see some panty shots with less or more effort.
• Paper-Thin Disguise: Tina isn't fooled by one second by Bass' Mister Strong disguise.
• Running Gag: Christie's search for a "real man", though is only really humorous when she is teasing Eliot.
• Those Two Guys:
  • Eliot and Brad Wong are almost always seen together in Story Mode.
  • The same with Leifang and Hitomi.
• Two Lines, No Waiting: The fifth tournament has nothing to do with the hunt for Alpha-152, and characters interested in one barely interact with the ones from other.
• Walking Spoiler:
  • One of the big twists of the story revolves around a character who isn't is what he himself thinks he is, so it's impossible to talk about him without mentioning the twist.
  • The truth about Rig's identity is very spoilerrific too.
• World of Buxom: It don't would be Dead or Alive otherwise.
