Decadent Habits

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Well, boya? What's it gonna be? Yes or no?

Decadent Habits is a Mahou Sensei Negima fanfiction that takes Tangled Family Tree Up to Eleven, written by Darkenning, with chapters contributed by OverMaster and Shadow Crystal Mage. It stems out of a vignette of OverMaster's More Than Fifty Four Negi and Chisame Threesomes, but played straight rather than for laughs. Most ot the time. It ran for thirty-one chapters plus epilogue and side-stories, and can be read here.

A sequel, A Decadent Habits Christmas, has recently been released here. Another sequel, crossing My-HiME and Negima, is planned. Other derivative works include a non-lemon, mystery Spin-Off written by Shadow Crystal Mage starring representations of Ala Iridia here, and an Imaginary Story describing meetings between the casts of Decadent Habits and Unequally Rational and Emotional, written by Over Master, foundhere.

Tropes used in Decadent Habits include:

...I very much want to test my steel against that person." She was smiling when she said it. She looked oddly like Tsukuyomi at that moment.

She sat down to finish the soup, and if it became a little more salty as she ate, she was too busy to notice.

    • Also, the final chapter and epilogue.
  • Bright Slap: Chizuru does this Chisame when she's becoming hysterical. Subverted in that the slap itself doesn't calm her down, but distracts her from her emotional pain. It also upsets Ayaka, who promptly offers comfort ... which is what Chizuru intended for her to do.
  • Broke Your Arm Punching Out Cthulhu: Almost literally. Chizuru attempts to use her Armor-Piercing Slap against Eva, and breaks her wrist. But she does bruise Eva.
  • Brother-Sister Incest: Initially between Setsuna and Konoka; sex between Negi and Asuna forms the climax of the first arc. More recently, Chisame and Ayaka have done the deed off-screen.
    • Even more recently, Negi has had sex with his half sisters Ayaka, Nekane and Chisame.
  • Butt Monkey: Makie is a mild version. The author likes Makie, but thinks she makes a nice innocent. And so consequently, Makie Will Never Get Laid.
  • Cameo: Hasegawa Sora appears as the mother of Hasegawa Chisame. Ayaka visits the Howard Resort, meets the Goddess of Victory, and sees her making out with her sister.
  • Compensated Dating: Misa engages in it. Somewhat subverts the expectations of the trope in that while she's looked down on by some of her classmates Yuna she's otherwise portrayed as a mild Jerk with a Heart of Gold, despite not even being slightly reluctant.
  • Convenient Miscarriage: Mana has one between the main story and the first sequel.
  • Corrupt the Cutie
  • Crazy Prepared: Parodied; Ayaka apparently expects to be put in a position where she might have to pick locks someday, and so conceals some picks in a camera. The parody comes in when it's pointed out that they're on the wrong side of the door from the lock.
  • Crossover: Chapters 18 and 19 crossover with Chapter 26 of OverMaster's Unequally Rational and Emotional, in which the Yuuna of that universe ends up in this one ... and really doesn't like what she finds.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Arika has one. In a joke crossover with Thirty-One Clown Princesses in Amber, it Squicks The Joker to learn about her rape by her own father when she was twelve. Which produced her first child, Asuna. She herself is at peace with the past. Or so she says.
    • Konoka has one. She was molested while being taken to an omiai, and so has trust issues that explode when she finds out that her father has been hiding the fact that she and Setsuna are sisters, with Konoka only learning the truth after she and Setsuna have done the deed.
  • Destructo-Nookie: Between Negi and Mana in one of the side stories.
  • Distant Finale: The epilogue is narrated by Chao, writing in the year 2100. Most of the cast are dead, but not all. One of the incidents discussed in the epilogue is the subject of another story written by Darkenning, Con Te Partirò.
  • Fantasy Contraception: A magical version that "[k]ills the sperm cells before they even ejaculate" is employed, primarially by Akashi-sensei while having sex with Yuna.
  • Futanari: Played with Kaede and one of her jutsu.
  • Good People Have Good Sex: Hehhehheh. No.
    • Well, to be exact, the trope is both played straight and averted depending on the case.
  • Half-Human Hybrid: Played straight then subverted. First, as in canon, Setsuna is a half-tengu, with the human half as a legacy from her father, Konoe Eishun. In a more recent chapter, this is subverted, with Hakase pointing out that this is scientifically ludicrous, and the discovery that despite her appearance, Setsuna isn't even slightly human or related to Eishun or Konoka. Whether this means that her relationships with them don't qualify as incest, particularly since Eishun thought she was his daughter, is a YMMV Trope.
  • The Hecate Sisters: Arika (crone, thanks to her infertility), Chizuru (mother), and Makie (maiden). Further, Eva is viewed by Alladia as embodying all three of these archetypes.
  • Heroic Bastard: Asuna. Also Negi, unbeknownst to himself.
  • I Did What I Had to Do: How Arika explains her killing Tsukuyomi to Haruna. Haruna agrees, but it's pretty clear that she considers this more evidence for Arika being a case of Love Makes You Evil, as noted below.
  • If I Can't Have You: Played with. Nodoka ALMOST tries a mind-wipe version with Yue.
  • Immodest Orgasm: Hakase.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Alladia, three times.
  • I Want Grandkids: Arika. Specifically, she's willing to be the mother of her grandkids by Negi.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Discussed by Madoka, who considers it a lame cliche and encourages Akira to fight for her love.
  • Kissing Cousins: Eishun and Professor Akashi are half-brothers, so Konoka and Yuna are cousins. It's implied that they have sex off-screen. And later actually shown in-screen.
  • Love Makes You Evil: Nodoka, to an extent. She was willing to do a LOT to get Yue back. Arika, possibly, depending on how you view her relations with Negi and Asuna...
  • Mother-Daughter Threesome: Negi with Chisame and Sora in Chapter 31.5.
  • Naughty Nuns: Misora and Cocone. (Although doubt is raised in the chapter this is mentioned, the author claims that, yes, they are Catholic ... just bad at it.)
  • Neck Snap: How Tsukuyomi meets her end at Arika's hands. Foreshadowed earlier when her ability to break someone's neck is mentioned in a semi-humorous context.
  • Noodle Incident: Just how Negi, Asuna and Chisame managed to reboot the magical world, bring everyone back, and ensure that it could go on for at least another century has not been and will not be discussed in-series. Mostly because the author has no clue how this would work.
  • Omake: A chapter of them between the last chapter and the epilogue.
    • There are also some much earlier, demonstrating Alternate Endings for the first "book" that were rejected.
  • Only Sane Man: Subverted: Despite what the some people think, Haruna is not the only person in-series who would have a bad reaction to actual incest. The author admits to using her as an Author Avatar in her chapter, however.
  • Parental Incest: From the first chapter onward. That first chapter features Arika giving Negi a blowjob. And it builds from there. You have been warned.
  • Patchwork Fic: Mostly based on the main manga, but incorporating elements from the Xebec anime version of Negima, Negima?! Neo, and the doujinshi Negimaru.
  • Pop-Cultured Badass: Yuna. Well, she's working on the Badass part ...
  • Porn with Plot: Some chapters have no Lemon content at all. All of them mention that someone is having sex with their relatives.
  • Precision F-Strike: Used sixteen times in thirty-one chapters; the largest number of uses has been three times in chapter five, all by Yuna.
  • Really Gets Around: Nagi and Arika have an open relationship. Nagi has at least three children other than Negi, and possibly more.
    • Ako worries that she's becoming this, with relationships with Tosaka, Akira, and Madoka all at the same time. Plus, she ends up in a foursome with Akira, Madoka and Sakurako...

Ako was a wicked woman. And she was starting to not mind all it all that much.

"...Listening to private conversations is a decadent habit, and should be avoided if at all possible."

    • One of the cowriters attempted to slip many more Title Drops into the story, but was foiled through Executive Meddling.
  • Troperiffic: The author's aiming for this, using the Sex Tropes index (and its related subtropes) as inspiration.
  • Twincest: The Narutaki Twins ... again. It doesn't work out too well for them.
  • Vampires Are Sex Gods: In addition to seducing Chisame, Eva may (or may not) have done things to Akira, Ako, Makie and Yuna while they were under her mind control. Akira thinks she did, Yuna thinks she broke her hymen by working out, and Ako and Makie aren't talking.
  • Villainous Incest: Kurt Godel is Tsukuyomi's father. Guess what their home life was like.
  • Xanatos Gambit: Eva used one to cover Nodoka's attempt to enter the Magical World.
