Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z/Trivia
Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z: The announcement of a Magical Girl anime series Inspired By the American Powerpuff Girls was assumed to be an April Fool's joke.
- Hey, It's That Voice!: You've got Hiiragi Kagami as Momoko/Blossom, Wallace (or Willis) as Miyako/Bubbles, Genichiro Sanada as Professor Utonium, Might Guy as Mojo Jojo, and Freeza as Him.
- And that's not including the Monsters of the Week where you have Archer doing his best impression of a gay hair stylist and Hikaru Midorikawa as a piano fed up with terrible pianists.
- The English dub had its moments of this as well, but the most blatant example is easily Kathleen Barr as Butch from the Rowdyruff Boys, who pretty much used her voice as Kevin from Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy.
- It also had Maryke Hendrikse as Bubbles.
- Isn't Snake -ahem- Ivy Penelope the robot?
- Shout-Out: The girls' transformations include tributes to many other magical girls.
- In episode 10, as the girls are flying in to stop Mojo, a new reporter yells, "Is it a bird? Is it a plane?"
- Episode 48 has what might be a very subtle Shout-Out to Final Fantasy VII, when Taka-Aki climbs the cliff while in monster form, in exactly the same way that Red XIII/Nanaki does in the very last scene of Final Fantasy VII and the beginning of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
- And of course, the series contains lots of Shout Outs to the original Powerpuff Girls, most notably in the second opening, but also in the episodes themselves, including Bubbles talking to animals, an episode where the Mayor (possessed by a ghost) passes a law honouring monsters (referencing the original series episode Bought And Scold), an episode where Him possesses Miyako's doll Octi (referencing Octi Evil), one where Him challenges the girls to get three items for him to save Professor Utonium, Ken and Peach from
certain doomgetting a haircut (referencing Him Diddle Riddle), one where vegetable monsters attack the girls (a reference to Beat Your Greens) and lots, lots, LOTS more. There's also an episode where Professor Utonium makes a "super suit", referencing the one he had in Powerprof. Buttercup's Hurricane Lutz move might be a reference to her ability to turn into a tornado in the original series.- Also, Miko Shirogane seems like Bunny in the original Powerpuff Girls episode "Twisted Sister" and Princess. Like Bunny, Miko has purple eyes and brown hair, and has a purple theme color. She also gave some burden to the girls and only had her direct appearance at only one episode. Like Princess, well, probably her Shirogane Z counterpart is similar. Unlike Bunny, however, she's an evil genius.
- The titular "z", perhaps?
