Main Hunters and their Digimon
Tagiru Akashi
A member of Taiki and Yuu's Xros Heart basketball team. He followed Ryouma and his partners into DigiQuartz, and there met his partner, Gumdramon. After meeting the Watchman, he gleefully grabbed the opportunity to become a Digimon Hunter.
Voiced by Marina Inoue |
- Blush Sticker
- Determinator: In episode eleven, Tagiru got his passion sucked out of him by FlaWizarmon, rendering him a droopy-eyed, speech-slurring wreck. Despite this, he still insisted on continuing the hunt, and he managed to regain his energy through sheer Heroic Resolve.
- Expy: To previous Digimon main characters, but in particular, his shirt has a notable resemblance to Taichi's. He also pretty much plays the Daisuke to Taiki's Taichi as far as role goes, and is even characterised very similarly, if Up to Eleven.
- Goggles Do Nothing: His have yellow lenses.
- Hot-Blooded: To the point that steam comes out of his nostrils.
- I Just Want to Be Special: Tagiru wants to be in the spotlight and surpass Taiki, to the point he tries to emulate him, while also jumping at every potential competition in order to prove himself. Which leads to...
- Idiot Hero: Perhaps the best example ever afforded by the franchise, well beyond even Daisuke.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore".
- Jumped At the Call: He didn't need any persuasion to become a Hunter.
- Keet: This cannot be emphasised enough.
- Kid Appeal Character: Shares this role with Gumdramon.
- Meaningful Name: It's written in katakana, but it's pronounced the same way as (滚), meaning "to boil". Yeah. The name of his insert song plays with this - "Tagiru Chikara" (spelled in katakana only) can accordingly be taken to meaning "boiling power".
- Shipper on Deck: For Taiki and Akari.
- Skunk Stripe: A flash of red in his otherwise brown hair. He gets it from his mother.
- Static Character: He never really goes through any significant changes.
- Arguably a Flat Character too 'cause there's really not much to him, he even admits this and is fine with it!
- Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Yuu have this dynamic, as well as with Gumdramon.
Gumdramon
Tagiru's partner, a blue dragon Digimon with a tail hammer known as the shippotsuchi[1]. He found himself in DigiQuartz after an accident in the Digital World, and sought out a human partner in order to take part in the Hunter games. He focuses on Tagiru, and the two quickly became partners, unlocking the ability for Gumdramon to super evolve.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- Arresterdramon, his super evolved form. A large, purple dragon with red armor, purple wings, and a trident at the end of its tail.
- Arresterdramon Superior Mode, a more advanced form of Arresterdramon. His purple wings have become larger and golden, his mouth can now be opened, and is significantly larger and stronger.
Voiced by: Kumiko Watanabe |
- All Animals Are Dogs: Gumdramon has the ability to sniff out targets like a bloodhound.
- Beware My Stinger Tail: In addition to the hammer, he can also reform his tail into a blade.
- Bilingual Bonus/Meaningful Name: The "gum" in his name refers to the rubber-like nature of his attacks, but can also be pronounced "gamu", as in "gamushara", meaning "reckless."
- Bratty Half-Pint
- Cute Little Fangs: A variation where they're pointing upward.
- Drop the Hammer: JACKED HAMMER! - A swing with his shippotsuchi.
- Expy: In terms of role, if Tagiru is an expy of Daisuke (which he is), then Gumdramon is an expy of V-mon. Appearance-wise, he has traits of both V-mon and DORUmon.
- Half-Dressed Cartoon Animal
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore".
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Before meeting him, Gumdramon was calculating how to use Tagiru for his own gain, but was touched by Tagiru saving his life, and was genuinely concerned about Tagiru putting his own life at risk.
- Kid Appeal Character: Shares this role with Tagiru.
- Playing with Fire/Everything's Better with Spinning: FIRE VORTEX! - Spins rapidly and charges at the opponent while wreathed in flames.
- Power Limiter: The Kinkoji (Tight-bound child) on his tail. He got it from Sanzomon.
- Rubber Mon: His tail is extendable and prehensile. Fitting, as the "gum" in his name is another name for natural rubber. Although, as seen in his first fight, the hammer end of his tail is at least definitely quite hard.
- Tsundere: Episode seven has him deliver the inevitable line "It's not like I'm worried!" regarding Tagiru.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Tagiru tend to quarrel a lot.
- Whip It Good/Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: RAN-GUM BREAK! - Gumdramon's tail can extend like a whip and smack opponents repeatedly.

- Goggles Do Nothing: In a first for an actual main character's Digimon, Arresterdramon has a pair of them on his head.
- Our Dragons Are Different
- Rapid-Fire Fisticuffs: MACH FLICKER!
- Shaping Your Attacks: PRISM GARROTE! - Releases dragon-shaped trails of energy from his tail.
- And its variation when Xrossed with GigaBreakdramon, INFINITY PRISM GARROTE!
- And its variation when Xrossed with Astamon, PRISM MAVERICK!
- Whip It Good/Everything's Better with Spinning: SPIN CALIBUR! - Strikes the opponent with the end of his tail.
- The Worf Effect: After beating MetalTyrannomon, he either loses all his fights (to the point of winning more fights without evolving!), or is about to lose until someone comes to lend a hand.
- The fight against FlaWizarmon was the start of things getting better - he beats FlaWizarmon without help or even Xrossing. On occasion he's still overwhelmed until he Xrosses, but this is happening significantly less often.
- Beware My Stinger Tail: FROG SHOT! - His tail ends in a pointed trident, which he can use as a spear.
- Arresterdramon Superior Mode
- Flying Brick
- Fusion Dance
- Flying Broomstick/Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: With the Brave Snatcher.
- Super Mode
- Up to Eleven: The entire point of him. It's reflected in his design - a more developed and aggressive-looking take on Arresterdramon.
Taiki Kudo
The legendary General who led Xros Heart to victory against the Bagra Empire. In the year since the defeat of Bagramon, Taiki formed a three-man street basketball team along with Yuu and Tagiru, named Xros Heart after the army he led in the Digital World.
Voiced by: Minami Takayama |
- Big Brother Mentor: To Tagiru and Yuu.
- Brick Joke: Episode 16: Tagiru and Yuu have to go investigate some paranormal activity on their own because Taiki has to go to a baseball game, but mention that Taiki will catch up to them later. The end of the episode shows that Taiki didn't make it, having exhausted himself during the game again.
- Cannot Tell a Joke
Betsumon: "Impossible...There's someone out there who makes worse jokes than I do..." |
- Chest Insignia: The crown on the breast of his shirt, referring to how he acquired the power of the Code Crown at the end of the previous series.
- Chronic Hero Syndrome: He still just can't turn his back on people.
- Goggles Do Nothing
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The victim of this at the hands of Ryouma wielding the Brave Snatcher, making him unable to continue to fight Quartzmon.
- It's Not You, It's My Enemies: He avoided telling Akari and Zenjirou what was happening in DigiQuartz in order to protect them.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore".
- The Power of Friendship
- Sempai-Kohai: Tagiru refers to him as "sempai."
- Story-Breaker Power: The Watchmaker flat out said Taiki joining could completely destabilize the hunt. So far, Curb Stomping every opponent Tagiru's had trouble with hasn't done much to prove him wrong.
- Tsurime Eyes
Shoutmon
Taiki's primary partner Digimon. In the year since he defeated Bagramon, Shoutmon has achieved his dream of becoming the Digimon King. With the assistance of Wisemon, he and the rest of Xros Heart can be called upon by Taiki when he's needed.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- OmegaShoutmon, his super evolved form. A lithe dragon warrior resembling a fully-grown Shoutmon plated in gold.
- Shoutmon X4, Xrossed with the Starmons, Ballistamon and Dorulumon. A Humongous Mecha amalgamation of the four, wielding the Star Sword. This time, the number of Digimon involved in this Xros means it can be only achieved by giving someone else two of the components, then executing a Double Xros.
- Shoutmon X7, Xrossed with the Starmons, Ballistamon, Dorulumon, Sparrowmon, and ZekeGreymon. A Humongous Mecha amalgamation of the seven, sporting a giant version of Shoutmon's microphone. Taiki still needs to do Great Xros to use it, but now needs four people to use it instead of the three like the previous series.
- Shoutmon DX, Xrossed with ZekeGreymon. OmegaShoutmon wears ZekeGreymon's armour in this form, with weaponry formed from both OmegaShoutmon's feet and ZekeGreymon's own weaponry. Formed by Double Xros with Kiriha.
Voiced by: Chika Sakamoto |
- Asskicking Equals Authority
- Badass
- Good Scars, Evil Scars: Shoutmon has since gained a few of these on his person, upping his Badass cred.
- Hammerspace: Where he pulls his mike from.
- Hot-Blooded: If less so than before.
- Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: The victim of this at the hands of Ryouma wielding the Brave Snatcher, making him unable to continue to fight Quartzmon.
- Improbable Weapon User: That microphone of his is back and deadly as ever.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore".
- Musical Assassin: The first words he said to Taiki in combat upon returning were "I bet you want to hear my scream again after so long!"
- Older and Wiser
- Playing with Fire: ROCK DAMASHII!
- And its variation when Xrossed with ChibiKamemon, ROCK DAMASHII ARROW!
- The Power of Rock
- Royals Who Actually Do Something: What, did you think he was just going to sit around after becoming king?
- Scarf of Asskicking: He's attained one since we last saw him.
- Too Many Belts: Sure, it's just one, but it's too many in that he has no clothes on which to use one. But damn if Shoutmon doesn't make it work.

Yuu Amano
The younger brother of Taiki's former Xros Heart comrade, Nene Amano; he was once led astray into serving the Bagra Army and killing thousands, but is now determined to make up for it. Since the defeat of Bagramon, Yuu now attends school with Taiki and is one grade below him.
Voiced by: Kanae Oki |
- The Atoner
- Berserk Button: Treating the whole Digimon thing like a game; completely understandable given what happened when he did.
- Chick Magnet
- Child Prodigy
- Green-Eyed Monster: Was envious of Taiki and Tagiru in episode four because he couldn't do anything to help in battle, but knows it was his own fault Damemon died and presses on regardless.
- It's All My Fault: Briefly believed that his actions in the previous series led to Damemon intentionally not coming back to him. Needless to say, he was wrong.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Boku".
- Out of Focus: Despite being promoted to the main trio, he ends up having very little impact on the overarching plot.
- The Rival: Acts this way towards Tagiru, but Tagiru is more focused on surpassing Taiki.
- Ship Tease: With Airu, to the point of being a Running Gag.
- The Smart Guy: Easily the smartest of the group if Taiki hasn't already taken that role.
- Supreme Chef: Cooks for Tagiru, Gumdramon, and Cutemon in episode five, and by their reactions Yuu's a pretty good chef.
- Vitriolic Best Buds: He and Tagiru have this dynamic.
- What Do You Mean It's Not Heinous?: Yuu's focus on being The Atoner causes him to be rather critical of Tagiru and others' motives for being Hunters, but how on the money he is tends to vary from situation to situation. Cases like Hideaki prove that what others have in mind may not necessarily be all that bad.
Damemon
Yuu's partner Digimon. In Xros Wars, he worked for the Bagra Army and was assigned to be Yuu's handler, but came to genuinely care for his charge. His death forced a Heel Realization out of Yuu, and despite Damemon being resurrected the two do not reunite until this series.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- Tuwarmon, his super evolved form. A robotic ninja Digimon.
Voiced by: Masami Kikuchi |
- Back from the Dead
- Catch Phrase: Same as ever, "Dame Dame!"[6]
- Epic Flail: BUNBUN KEN! [7]
- Expy: Towards Sukamon, as both are basically talking, animated poop.
- Fartillery/WeaponizedExhaust: BOO~ST ATTACK!
- Heel Face Turn: When he died in Xros Wars, he was still technically part of the Bagra Army. Now he's a full-fledged good guy.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Mii".
- More Dakka: GUN VULCAN!
- Out of Focus: Since his revival, he's had only a handful of lines and appearances, and had an active role only in the ninth episode. Interestingly enough, only Damemon is getting it - Yuu himself still gets very substantial screen time.
- It seemed to be changing as of episode eleven, then it kind of...didn't. For example, he literally does not appear at all in episode nineteen, despite there being a fairly large fight in which even Airu/Opossumon and a oneshot character actively participate.
- Redemption Demotion: Played with. In the previous series, Damemon was a disguise worn by Tuwarmon while acting as Yuu's ally. However, since he was reborn as Damemon, and not Tuwarmon, he has to evolve into him rather than transform back and forth like he used to. This has shown no visible effect on his fighting strength.
Tropes Associated With Damemon's Evolved or DigiXros forms:
|
- Tuwarmon
- Bag of Kidnapping: DIGI NINPO! FUROSHIKI ZUTSUMI![8] - Tuwarmon captures the opponent in a bag.
- Blow You Away: NINPO! FUUJINHA![9]
- Everything's Better with Spinning: MANTIS DANCE!
- Expy: Towards Shurikenger, given they're both Ninja with a propensity towards Gratuitous English.
- Fighting with Chucks
- Flash Step: DIGI NINPO! KAWASHIMI NO JUTSU![10] - Tuwarmon quickly moves around to dodge an attack and leaves behind afterimages of himself.
- Fusion Dance: Does a DigiXros with SuperStarmon in episode 24.
- Cool Shades: On his chest.
- Flechette Storm: DIGI NINPO! HOSHI ARASHI![11]
- Fuuma Shuriken: He can turn his body into this. Overlaps with Everything Is Better With Spinning.
- Gravity Master
- Highly-Visible Ninja: He's bright yellow and three times Yuu's height. If that's not a Highly-Visible Ninja, who knows what is?
- Inescapable Net: DIGI NINPO! KUMO SHIBARI![12] - Tuwarmon creates an energy net to ensnare his opponent.
- Instant Awesome, Just Add Ninja
- Ninja Log: DIGI NINPO! KIWARIMI NO JUTSU![13] - A standard "substitution technique" that replaces him and/or Yuu with a very convincing decoy when attacked.
- Henohenomoheji: The scarecrow decoy he produces has this face upon closer examination...which no-one ever does until it's done its job.
- Smoke Bomb/Macross Missile Massacre: SMOKIN' BOOGIE!
- Spell My Name with an "S": His name is commonly spelled by fans as "Tsuwamon", a transliteration predating Toei/Bandai officially calling him "Tuwarmon".
- Throwing Your Sword Always Works: MANTIS ARM!
- Trap Master
Ryouma Mogami
A mysterious young man who appears to be the leader of the rival team of hunters, though they apparently only work together out of convenience. His Digimon partner is Psychemon.
Voiced by: Tetsuya Kakihara |
- Affably Evil: Or at least affably antagonistic. He tells Taiki that he has a great respect for what he accomplished in the past, and he's reasonably polite to Tagiru as well.
- Faux Affably Evil: Turns out this was all an act. He actually serves Quartzmon.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing
- Expy: Many have noted that he resembles Neo Saiba.
- Graceful Loser: In episode 9, Yuu got him to help rescue Taiki by proposing that the two of them and Tagiru work together to try to capture SuperStarmon, and whoever manages to capture him keeps him. Ryouma is true to his word and leaves with no hard feelings, even admitting Yuu outmaneuevered him.
- Gratuitous English: He managed to rack up a count rivaling Tuwarmon's in the first episode alone.
- Heel Face Turn: As of episode 23....but in the next episode...
- Does it for real in the following (and final) episode.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Watashi".
- Mind Control Eyes: In episode 25.
- The Mole
- Sharp-Dressed Man: He wears a form-fitting business-style suit.
- Stealth Mentor: Plays this role towards Tagiru in episode seven.
- White-Haired Pretty Boy
Psychemon
Ryouma's partner Digimon, a reptile Digimon wearing a multi-colored pelt. He's a mon of very few words, but incredibly efficient at getting the job done.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- Astamon, his super evolved form. A humanoid demon Digimon resembling a mob boss.
Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai |
- Badass Arm-Fold: When evolving.
- Big Bad: He's the terminal of Quartzmon.
- Dead All Along: According to Quartzmon, he was the very first Digimon that he absorbed.
- Everything's Better with Rainbows: Both of his attacks involve multi-colored lights somehow.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore" and "Watashi".
- The Mole: Granted, he wasn't very friendly to begin with, but went along with allying with Xros Heart multiple times. It's revealed he's a "Terminal" to Quartzmon and had brainwashed Ryouma.
- Palette Swap: Of Gabumon. Though, it should be noted that he's been around much, much longer than this series, having made his debut way back in Digimon World.
- Real Men Wear Pink
- Shock and Awe: COLORFUL SPARK!
- The Stoic: His evolution sequence definitely gives this vibe, with him posing with his arms crossed and then calmly with his hands in his pockets as Astamon.
- Use Your Head: HADEHADE[14] HORN
Tropes Associated With Psychemon's Evolved or DigiXros forms: |
- Astamon
- Badass Longcoat
- Bishonen Line: He goes from a pink reptile to a humanoid mercenary with wolf-like characteristics.
- Fusion Dance: His "Xros Up" forms with Ryouma's various captured Digimon:
- Power Fist/Artificial Limbs: With Triceramon.
- Hurricane Kick/Shoulders of Doom: With Cerberumon.
- BFG: HELLFIRE! He wields a weapon called Oro Salmón, a gun that resembles an old-fashioned tommy gun.
- I Call It Vera/Fluffy the Terrible: According to supporting material, his tommy-gun is named Oro Salmón, which is Spanish for..."gold salmon". The supporting material says it's made by the same gunsmith as the one behind Beelzebumon's weapon, Berenjena, and Sparrowmon's weapons, Zanahoria, both of which have a similarly unusual name ("eggplant" and "carrot", respectively).
- Hurricane Kick: MAVERICK!
- Knife Nut
- Nightmare Face: Has a truely hideous one under his mask. The Reveal of the face happens at the same time as the reveal of him being Quartzmon's terminal.
- Our Demons Are Different: In the broader Digimon canon, Astamon is the Perfect form of Belphemon, the Demon Lord of Sloth.
- Scarf of Asskicking: Literally. He uses the scarf around his neck during battle.
- Sharp Dressed Mon: Much like his partner.
- Yakuza: Designed like one.
Airu Suzaki
Another member of Ryouma's Hunter group, who considers herself a "Digimon Celebrity." She is focused only on collecting cute Digimon, and isn't above violence and the bending of rules if it will get her what she wants.
Voiced by: Megumi Han |
- Antagonistic Counterpart: Episode 14 in particular frames her as one to Yuu, with both (or their Digimon) being their respective group's Trap Master.
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing
- Blush Sticker
- Cuteness Proximity: She is only interested in catching cute Digimon.
- Cute Little Fangs
- Enemy Mine: A surprising number of her appearances have her teaming up with the heroes, even temporarily.
- Expy: Just as Ryouma is similar to Neo, Airu has a few similarities to Mari Gotojuki.
- Heel Face Turn: As of episode 23.
- Impossible Hourglass Figure
- Japanese Pronouns: "Watashi".
- Jerkass: She's quite open about mocking other people, and has stated she doesn't care about the rules of the hunt, going as far as trying to steal Digimon who already belong to other hunters.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Has become more and more this, what with all her Enemy Mine situations.
- Kawaiiko: At least in regards to the kinds of Digimon she pursues.
- Ship Tease: With Yuu, to the point of being a Running Gag.
- Stalker with a Crush: As of episode 19, she's coming pretty close to being this toward Yuu.
- The Smurfette Principle: The worst example in Digimon history - she is the only girl of the six prominent characters, and isn't even one of the three main characters and thus has isolated appearances.
- Trap Master: Uses traps to capture Digimon, which is what makes her useful to Ryouma and Ren.
- Tsundere: To Yuu.
Opossummon
Airu's Digimon partner. A Digimon resembling a cat holding a set of balloons, she often gets jealous whenever Airu pursues other Digimon or considers them cuter than she is.
Her evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- Cho·Hakkaimon, her super evolved form. A humanoid Digimon in what looks like pig-themed armor, based on a (male) character from Journey to the West.
Voiced by: Ryoko Shiraishi |
- Balloonacy: Floats around with three balloons.
- Cat Smile: A permanent trait of both her and her balloons.
- Cats Are Mean: Again, given she's an antagonist.
- Clingy Jealous Girl: Opossummon gets jealous whenever Airu finds a Digimon she thinks is cuter than her.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Atashi".
- Mad Bomber: MAD BALLOON BOMB!
- Ridiculously Cute Critter
Tropes Associated With Opossummon's Evolved or DigiXros forms: |
- Fusion Dance[15]
- Playing with Fire: With Candmon.
- Cho·Hakkaimon
- Bishoujo Line: Goes from a cat-like creature to a more or less humanoid Digimon in armor.
- Cute Bruiser: Much, much stronger that she looks. Gumdramon even calls her "freakishly strong!"
- Cute Monster Girl
- Drop the Hammer: KYOUSHIN HŌMURAN![16] - She wields her weapon called the 'Roketto Dīngpá' that resembles a combination between a hammer and a rake and attacks the opponent with it.
- Full Boar Action
- Gender Flip: Considering the character Cho·Hakkaimon is based on was a male...
- Lucky Charms Name: One of a handful of Digimon to have a non-kana/alphabet symbol in their name, and certainly the only one to have one which doesn't even show up on a conventional keyboard (·).
- Playing with Fire/Everything's Better with Spinning: BUTA NO MARUYAKI![17]
- Ugly Cute: In-universe, Airu considers Cho·Hakkaimon to be this...as long as she remains effective, anyway.
Ren Tobari
Another member of Ryouma's Hunter team. Despite working with Ryouma, he has no interest in others and prefers to do things his own way. He's proud of the size of his Digimon collection.
Voiced by: Houko Kuwashima |
- Collector of the Strange: And he prefers to go for the rare Digimon over the normal variety.
- Expy: Seems slightly influenced by Hideto Fujimoto.
- Heel Face Turn: As of episode 23.
- Jerkass: His run-in with Tagiru and Yuu makes this trope evident. Also provides a contrast to his partners as he is the only one to have had nothing positive to do with the heroes so far: Ryouma has at least shown the others some measure of legitimate respect, and Airu has taken to semiregularly allying with the heroes.
- He also has no qualms about hurting or using other humans if it gets him what he wants. In episode six, he had Dracumon magnify the aspiring kendo student, Musashi's, desire to become stronger to dangerous levels before sucking it out of him to increase Dracumon's power.
- Faux Affably Evil: Or simply antagonistic. All of his actions in episode four were done with a kind-looking smile on his face.
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore".
- Manipulative Bastard: As shown by episode four, where his attempt to help Tagiru and Gumdramon against Blossomon was actually him using them to distract Blossomon so he and his teammates could move in for the kill.
- Nice Hat
- Token Evil Teammate: During the final few episodes, where he really hasn't changed his ways but is part of "the good guys" regardless.
- You Gotta Have Blue Hair
Dracumon
Ren's Digimon partner.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- Yaksamon, his super evolved form. A masked samurai Digimon wielding two wooden swords.
Voiced by: Daisuke Kishio |
- Casting a Shadow
- Eyes Do Not Belong There: Has a red eye in one palm and a green eye in the other, while only having eye-shaped markings on his face.
- The Hyena: So far, most of what he's done is laugh maniacally.
- I'm a Humanitarian: Or Digitarian, or whatever. Either way, he cheerfully takes a bite out of Blossomon, and then comes back for more later on.
"I want seconds!" |
- Perverse Puppet: Look closely when he evolves. See all that blue? That's a teddy bear, specifically the one tied to Yaksamon's back.
- Our Vampires Are Different
- Slasher Smile: It seems to be a permanent fixture on his face.
Tropes associated with Yaksamon's Evolved or DigiXros forms: |
- Yaksamon
- Ascended Extra: Sort of. Unlike any other main partner Digimon, the Yaksamon species had already shown up several times playing bit parts in earlier anime series (including the original Xros Wars) before Young Hunters happened and graduated it to being a partner Digimon.
- Cool Mask
- Dual-Wielding
- Everything's Better with Samurai
- Horned Humanoid
- Laser Blade: ITTOURYOUDAN![18]
- Psychic Powers
- Spell My Name with an "S": There's three transliterations of his name which have been the accepted Japanese name at some point or another: Yashamon (the straight transliteration and what certain fansubs goes with), Yasyamon (which is what dub supporting material goes with), and Yaksamon (TV Asahi's spelling and thus the current official Japanese name). They're all correct Romanizations of the origin of his name in at least one language ("yaksa" for Thai and Sanskrit, "yasha" and "yasya" for Japanese).
- Wooden Katanas Are Even Better
- Youkai: Specifically, his name is derived from a word for a kind of humanoid youkai.
Secondary Characters and Digimon
The Watchmaker and Clockmon
A mysterious duo who watch over the Hunter games and give Xros Loaders to whomever wishes to join. His intentions are initially unknown and seem almost sinister, but when Quartzmon revealed itself, he explained that he had established the Digimon Hunt as a way to control the influence of DigiQuartz and ultimately work on taking Quartzmon down. In the end, he reveals himself as Bagramon, reincarnated into a good human...somehow.
Voiced By: Takeshi Kusao (Watchmaker); Yuko Maruyama (Clockmon) |
- The Atoner
- Big Good
- Blatant Lies: "I'm just a simple clock shop owner." Riiiiiight.
- Played for Laughs in episode 23, where he repeatedly comes up with increasingly bad and obvious lies to cover up what he's doing.
- Cool Shades
- Death Equals Redemption
- Enigmatic Empowering Entity: Eventually addressed by Shoutmon:
"Seriously, who is that guy?" |
- Expy: Clockmon is one to the Monitormon from Xros Wars, right down to having the same voice actor. It's also an expy of the earlier Clockmon species, as this one has the subtle difference of not having some hooded guy sticking out of its top.
- Hijacked by Ganon: An odd and rare Heel Face Turn example.
- Lennon Specs
- Opaque Lenses: They hide what his eyes actually look like.
- Miniature Senior Citizens
- Mysterious Watcher
- Mythology Gag: He spontaneously appears before Mizuki, fishing on a rock, to give her a Xros Loader. Yushima once spontaneously appeared before Masaru, whom he earlier gave a Digivice, apparently fishing; on the other hand, that wasn't in the middle of the ocean.
- Spell My Name with an "S": No-one can decide on a consistent translation of his listed name (時計屋のおやじ) - so you've got such diverse terms as Watch Man, Watchmaker, Old Clock Shop Man, Old Clock Store Owner, ad infinitum.
- Time Master: Clockmon - CHRONO BREAKER!
- Verbal Tic: Clockmon; "Tick tick tick~"
- The Watchmaker: Uh, yeah.
Mami Takahashi
A fellow student of Yuu and Tagiru's who is a big fan of Yuu...and not so big a fan of Tagiru.
Voiced by: Yumi Sudou |
- Berserk Button: Apparently Tagiru, for both good and possibly not so good reasons.
- Expy: She's pretty much Tagiru's Akari, if significantly less friendly with Tagiru himself.
- She also shares similarities to Jun, like being a...
- Fan Girl: Of Yuu-sama.
- Locked Out of the Loop: Mami has no idea what's going on with the Digimon Hunts, and thus, from her perspective, Tagiru is often babbling even more nonsense than usual.
- Those Two Girls: Often accompanied by two of Yuu's fellow fangirls, who are named Haruka and Midori.
Team Xros Heart
The core members of Taiki's old team from the previous war, who joined Shoutmon in being able to go to DigiQuartz when Taiki needs them. Just as before, they can still combine with Shoutmon into various DigiXrosses. In the confrontation with Quartzmon's hordes of Vamdemon, Ballistamon was given to Zenjiro as his partner, while Dorulumon and Cutemon were partnered with Akari.
Voiced By: Takahiro Sakurai (Dorulumon); Takeshi Kusao (Ballistamon); Houko Kuwashima (Cutemon); Bin Shimada (Starmon); Kokoro Kikuchi (Pickmons); Show Hayami (Wisemon); Ryoko Shiraishi (ChibiKamemon) |
- Big Badass Wolf: Dorulumon.
- Chess Motifs: The Pickmons.
- Cool Shades: Starmon and the various Pickmons.
- A Day in the Limelight: Cutemon gets a fair amount of focus in episode five, but then, it may be inaccurate to say that being hounded by Airu is being in "the limelight"...
- The Gunslinger: Revolmon.
- Fusion Dance: In episode 24, the members are Xrossed together to combat Quartzmon's forces.
- Chest Blaster/The Gunslinger: HEAVY THE SHOT! - Ballistamon Xrossed with Revolmon.
- Chess Motifs/This Is a Drill: DORULU CHECKMATE! - Dorulumon Xrossed with the Pawnchessmons.
- Japanese Beetle Brothers: Ballistamon, based on a hercules beetle.
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: Cutemon, the Pickmons, and ChibiKamemon.
- Shock and Awe: Ballistamon. DENKI BIRI BIRI![19]
- Super Not-Drowning Skills: ChibiKamemon.
- The Smart Guy: Wisemon, as usual.
- This Is a Drill: Dorulumon.
- Turtle Power: ChibiKamemon.
Hideaki Mashimo
A Hunter who hunts Digimon for profit, collecting rewards from the people he helps in stopping Digimon. However, he's not interested in the money itself- his dream is to open a takoyaki stand once he's old enough, and until then, he's working to collect the money needed to finance the venture. His Digimon partner is Dobermon.
Voiced By: Shuuhei Sakaguchi |
- Ambition Is Evil: Averted. His desire to open a takoyaki stand is based on his dream to make people happy, and he'll do whatever he can to ensure he gets the money he needs fairly. It helps that he's genuinely happy to have assisted people.
- Back for the Finale
- A Boy And His Dog
- Early-Bird Cameo: He and Dobermon appear in the final scene of the opening sequence, but nothing at all was heard about him for the first month or so of the series' run. It was widely assumed that he was just background filler, like Hirokazu, Kenta and Juri originally were in the Digimon Tamers opening before Chiaki Konaka went "Sure Why Not" and they became Tamers themselves; it's unclear whether that was the case here or he was planned to be a character from the start.
- Expy: His hard-working personality, his emphasis on getting money in order to fund a far off goal, and his general Nice Guy and "big brother" sort of attitude remind one of Akira Date.
- Honest John's Dealership: Averted. When he finds out the money he'd made by working with Ganemon was earned fraudulently, he is strongly angered by the Digimon's dishonesty, and at the end of the episode returns all of the money Ganemon stole along with the reward money he had previously gotten, refusing to take a single cent from Ganemon's trickery.
- Large Ham: When talking about his dreams.
- Mythology Gag: His dream to open a worldwide chain of takoyaki stores is very similar to Daisuke's dream of opening a worldwide chain of noodle vendors in Digimon Adventure 02.
- Nice Guy: What he really wants to do is make people happy; profit is just a means to an end for that.
- We Help the Helpless
Dobermon
Hideaki's Digimon partner. Dobermon is an incredibly fast Digimon whose appearance resembles that of a lean, black, and somewhat demonic-looking dog.
Voiced By: Tomohisa Hashizume |
- Back for the Finale
- Blue Eyes: It's notable in that most Dobermon instead have red eyes.
- Canine Companion
- Catch Phrase: Yes, sir!
- Mythology Gag: A certain other dog-based Digimon in an earlier series had a similar catchphrase [20].
- Dark Is Not Evil: As with previous incarnations of Dobermon, he's rather demonic-looking, but is generally a good-natured Digimon.
- Fragile Speedster
- Fun Size: In Tamers, he was about the size of a ten-year-old girl. Here, he's the size of a normal Doberman.
- Gratuitous German: Both of his attacks, "Grau Lärm" and "Schwarz Strahl."
- Hell Hound: His design certainly evokes this, but see "Dark Is Not Evil" above.
- Won't Work On Me: His "Grau Lärm" technique seals his opponent's abilities.
- The Quiet One: Other than the occasional growl, he says "Yes, Sir!" two times in his first appearance. Other than that, he doesn't speak.
- Super Speed
Akari Hinomoto
Taiki's friend and a participant in the war against the Bagra Army, who transferred schools in the year between then and now. As dedicated to helping Taiki as ever, the two of them were lured into a trap by SuperStarmon. As a result, Akari learned about the battles going on in DigiQuartz, and vowed to help Taiki in whatever way she could from then on... which she did by, in the fight with Quartzmon's hordes, gaining a X Loader of her own and becoming a Hunter and the partner of Dorulumon and Cutemon.
Voiced By: Ryoko Shiraishi |
- Back for the Finale
- Big Eater
- The Bus Came Back
- Character Development: Contrast her attitude here to her attitude in the early episodes of Digimon Xros Wars. Akari immediately and calmly follows Taiki's lead when they're pulled into DigiQuartz, and is rather laid back when she learns about what was going on. All of this is far removed from the girl who originally only cared about getting home.
- Crazy Prepared: Her Running Gag of always having a pillow ready for when when Taiki is about to collapse continues.
- Eleventh-Hour Ranger: The Watchmaker tosses her a Xros Loader and she gets Dorulumon, Cutemon, and the PawnChessmons.
- Girlish Pigtails
- Locked Out of the Loop: Taiki avoided telling her and Zenjirou about what was going on because he was afraid of them getting wrapped up in another dangerous battle.
- Loophole Abuse: She's the one who helps Taiki figure out that he can form Shoutmon X4 by performing Double Xros with someone else.
- Zettai Ryouiki: Grade C now.
Zenjirou Tsurugi
Another one of Taiki's friends from the war against the Bagra Army. Zenjirou originally had no idea of what was occurring in DigiQuartz, but then found out from Taiki after the ordeal with SuperStarmon. In the end, he gets his wish and gets a X Loader, becoming a Hunter and the partner of Ballistamon.

- The Bus Came Back
- Eleventh-Hour Ranger: The watchmaker tosses him an Xros Loader and he gets Ballistamon and Revolmon.
- Jumped At the Call: His first question upon returning? Asking where the old guy giving out Xros Loaders is. In episode 24, he gets his wish.
- Large Ham: As big a one as ever.
- Locked Out of the Loop: That is, until Taiki told him.
- Plucky Comic Relief: In the sense that that was the entire point of his only brief appearance so far.
- Rummage Sale Reject: His shirt. His shirt. Behold it and marvel.
Nene Amano
Yuu's older sister, who served as a General of Xros Heart in the war against the Bagra Empire. In the year since, she's made a name for herself in Hong Kong as an idol singer. Though initially unaware of DigiQuartz or the Digimon Hunts, Nene found herself being stalked by a mysterious masked man and a Digimon named Harpymon, and contacted her brother and the rest of Xros Heart to help her. Harpymon was stopped, and the masked man was revealed to be Yuu and Nene's father, who had been manipulated by Harpymon into being overprotective of her. Nene and her father reconciled, and she returned to her idol career.
Voiced By: Houko Kuwashima |
- Back for the Finale
- The Bus Came Back
- The Call Knows Where You Live: Literally, in her dad's case.
- Celebrity Is Overrated: Averted. Nene is pretty happy with her career, and is shown as being rather competent and engaging in her work. Her father's belief in this trope, however, is what causes him to fall prey to Harpymon.
- Hair Decorations: Wears red bows in her hair in one of her stage outfits.
- Idol Singer
- Locked Out of the Loop
- Magic Skirt: In one of her stage outfits, which she ends up fighting in. Her standard outfit seems to have replaced this with a pair of shorts.
- Ship Tease: With Kiriha.
- Took a Level in Badass: Nene was pretty capable before, but even though it was just for a movie, you can't help but appreciate Nene showing off her ability to kick the crap out of several other guys. They were actors in a movie, yes, so no one got hurt, but she really beat them down! (Or at least that's what it looked like.)
- When You Coming Home, Dad?: Episode ten reveals her to be this, with her being at odds with her father over his constant absence due to business, and her lack of support in her chosen career. Considering what the Amano siblings went through in the first series, this makes a lot of sense.
Sparrowmon
One of Nene's Digimon partners, who appears to have stayed with her ever since the war.

Mervamon
One of Nene's Digimon partners, who appears to have stayed with her ever since the war.
Her evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- JetMervamon, Xrossed with Sparrowmon. Mervamon is equipped with Sparrowmon's guns and jetpack, and as such has the ability to fly.

Kiichi Funabashi
A classmate of Tagiru's who is a huge fan of locomotives and railroads, he befriended a Locomon in DigiQuartz. Not interested in Hunting, he instead opts to travel the world with Locomon and any kids who desire to ride with them.
Voiced by: Makiko Ohmoto |
- A Boy And His Train
- Actor Allusion: The Blush Sticker, the messiness of his hair and the tone of his voice do remind one somewhat of one of Makiko Ohmoto's more famous roles.
- Back for the Finale
- Blush Sticker
- Cool Hat: Has one that looks like a conductor's.
- Otaku: For trains.
- Keet: When he first met Locomon, he got just as worked up about how awesome he is as Tagiru gets about...well, everything. He even does the steam-out-of-the-nose thing!
- Rail Enthusiast
- Refusal of the Call: Of a sort; he's not interested in Digimon Hunting, and only got a Xros Loader from the Watchmaker so he could stay with Locomon.
- The Sleepless: Runs himself to exhaustion while spending all night travelling with Locomon.
Locomon
Kiichi's Digimon partner. He's a Digimon in the shape of a locomotive. He was tempted by Ren's claims that he could unlock his true potential to become faster, but decided he preferred enjoying travelling with Kiichi. After escaping the control of Airu's Parasimon, he officially returned to Kiichi's side.

- Be Yourself: See Good Old Train below.
- Cool Train: He doesn't need rails to get around; he flies.
- Good Old Train: Eventually decides to embrace being a slow, dependable steam engine rather than a reckless speedster.
- For Happiness: Runs on the smiles of his passengers, in a rare benevolent version (for this series) of the Emotion Eater trope.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: Gains glowing versions of these while under the influence of Parasimon while having eyes that are already red.
- Whole-Plot Reference: To the second Digimon Tamers movie, The Runaway Digimon Express.
- Runaway Train
- Too Fast to Stop: His dream was to go as fast as possible, and then some. When Airu's Parasimon latches onto him, however, he's unable to stop (mainly because Parasimon kept him from working the brakes).
Kiriha Aonuma
Taiki's former rival turned ally from the war with the Bagra Empire. After the war, Kiriha spent some time in America, and he learned of DigiQuartz and started investigating of his own accord, meeting up with Greymon and the rest of Blue Flare again along the way. He participated in and ultimately won the Hunter competition on the southern island.
Voiced by: Takeshi Kusao |
- Back for the Finale
- Badass Longcoat/Black Cloak: He spent most of the episode observing everyone from afar in one of these.
- Blue Eyes
- The Bus Came Back
- Expository Hairstyle Change: Sort of - it's pretty similar to how it was at the end of Xros Wars, but it's much less sharp and angular, reflecting the culmination of him becoming significantly less of a Jerkass.
- Tokyo Is the Center of the Universe: He describes Japan as "the most important of places" insofar as dealing with Digimon.
- Trap Master: His traps are the ones which bring down Volcdoramon.
- Walking the Earth: He intends to travel the world riding MetalGreymon, to further investigate DigiQuartz.
- Ship Tease: With Nene.
Greymon
Kiriha's primary partner Digimon, who along with the rest of Blue Flare rejoined Kiriha during his investigations into DigiQuartz. A powerful combatant with a fierce personality to match, he's loyal to Kiriha to a fault.
His evolved and Xrossed forms are as follows:
- MetalGreymon, Xrossed with MailBirdramon. He gains armour and weaponry reminiscent of the original MetalGreymon.
- ZekeGreymon, his super evolved form, accessible only from the MetalGreymon form. A gigantic, golden-armored evolution of MetalGreymon, armed with cannons and other powerful weaponry.

Haruki, Noboru, and Ken
Three Hunters who participated in the hunt for Volcdoramon and were later on the receiving end of Betsumon's trickery. Their Digimon partners are Witchmon, Allomon, and ShimaUnimon, respectively.
Voiced by: Kouta Nemoto (Haruki), Yuuta Kasuya (Noboru), and Hiroshi Okamoto (Ken) |
- Back for the Finale
- Combat Pragmatists: These three were quick to try and stop Tagiru so they could have a chance at Volcdoramon themselves.
- Lantern Jaw of Justice: Noboru has a bit of one.
- Screw This We're Out Of Here: The three of them decide to get out of dodge once Volcdoramon proves to be too dangerous for their tastes.
- Skunk Stripe: Ken.
Tropes associated with Haruki, Noboru, and Ken's partners: |

- Dinosaurs Are Dragons: DINO BURST!
- Magical Native American: If him being an other worldly dinosaur monster in an Indian headdress doesn't qualify him for this trope, nothing will.
- Stock Dinosaurs: An Allosaurus, naturally.
- ShimaUnimon
- Breath Weapon: LUSTER SHOT!
- Horse of a Different Color: Literally. He's a zebra-themed Palette Swap of the Digimon Unimon, with the wings removed.
Mizuki
A deep-sea treasure hunter who became a Digimon Hunter after discovering a strange underwater cave connected to DigiQuartz. Her partner is Sabmarimon.
Voiced by: Satsuki Yukino |
- Adventurer Archaeologist: Deep-sea variant.
- Back for the Finale
- Brainwashed and Crazy: Briefly on the receiving end of this from Dagomon. Taiki and Plesiomon snap her out of it.
- Fiery Redhead
- Jumped At the Call/Refusal of the Call: A strange example: she readily accepted a Xros Loader from the Watchmaker because of her desire to gain access to the cave's treasure, but she doesn't have much of an interest in hunting Digimon.
- Meaningful Name: Mizuki.
- Theme Table: Blue Eyes, blue Xros Loader...Yeah.
- No Name Given: She doesn't have a known surname.
- Ship Tease: With Taiki.

- Gentle Giant
- Spell My Name with an "S": "Sabmarimon" became the current official Romanization of the name as of his appearance here, but it has a pretty obvious error in it. Up until then, he was officially known by the more sensible transliteration "Submarimon", and as such odds are that few will bother with this rename.
Tropes associated with Sabmarimon's DigiXros forms: |

Other Digimon
Pinocchimon
The same Pinocchimon who Taiki and the other members of Xros Heart met in Dust Zone during the war with the Bagra Empire. In episode three, he appears, not recognizing Taiki and Shoutmon, and trying to convince the Robot Club of the characters' school to build GigaBreakdramon, in order to use its power to make himself the strongest Digimon in the world. Thankfully, Taiki and Shoutmon were able to snap him out of it.
Voiced By: Kei'ichi Nanba |
- Drop the Hammer: BULLET HAMMER!
- Mind Control Eyes
- Not Himself
- Pinocchio Nose: Just as before. Only this time, Taiki and Shoutmon recognize it.
- The Power of Friendship: This is what snaps him out of whatever it was affecting him.
Kotemon
A Digimon who appeared in DigiQuartz and mentored both Tagiru and Musashi Kenzaki in the art of kendo. He was originally suspected of aiding Musashi in taking down other kendo students, but ultimately, he was not responsible. He ended up lending his power to Tagiru and Gumdramon, joining their team.
Voiced By: Rokurou Naya |
- Back for the Finale
- Cool Old Guy
- Cool Sword
- Elemental Powers
- Playing with Fire
- Shock and Awe: THUNDER KOTE![24]
- Kendo
- Nice Guy: Unlike a lot of the other Digimon our heroes have met (who in fairness were Brainwashed and Crazy), Kotemon reached out to humans because he genuinely wanted to help them better themselves. He then trained Tagiru because he was worried about Musashi and thought Tagiru could get through to him via a kendo match.
- Old Master
- Vocal Dissonance: Looking at him, you'd expect him to sound like a small child as he did previously[25]. However, he has the voice of a relatively old man.
- Wooden Swords Are Even Better: His personal weapon is a shinai, a traditional kendo weapon made of grass and wood.
Pagumon
Tagiru captured this Digimon after it terrorized an okonomiyaki shop owner into cooking for it. Pagumon ended up inadvertently causing a falling-out between Tagiru and Gumdramon, and after trying its first actual bite of okonomiyaki went berserk. Pagumon duplicated and went on a rampage of gluttony before a reunited Gumdramon and Tagiru stopped it.
Voiced By: Chinami Nishimura |
- Back for the Finale
- Bratty Half-Pint: Played with. Pagumon means well, but he's childish and flies off the handle, as opposed to Gumdramon, whose driven more by ego.
- Ear Wings
- Explosive Breeder: Well, it's more like self-duplication, but given he's a talking rabbit's head...
- Killer Rabbit Head
- Making a Splash/Poisonous Digimon: He spits out streams of poisonous bubbles.
- Red Eyes, Take Warning: After duplicating himself, otherwise they're just pink with yellow irises.[26]
- Ridiculously Cute Critter
- Turns White: However, it's eventually revealed that this wasn't because of any change in strength but rather that he was using the okonomiyaki he ate to make duplicates of himself.
- Wave of Babies: Considering Pagumon is a baby-level Digimon normally...yeah. It's powerful enough a wave to completely overwhelm MetalTyrannomon.
Ganemon
A Digimon shaped like a 10 yen coin who sent his Zenimon and KoZenimon into a shopping district in order to collect money for him, so he could devour enough of the human greed attached to it in order to increase his power. After using an unwitting Hideaki and Tagiru to help him, his true nature became known, and he was defeated. Afterwards, he joined Hideaki's team and was made to atone for his actions by returning the money he'd stolen.
Voiced By: Naoki Tatsuta |
- Animate Inanimate Object
- The Atoner: Hideaki sees to that once all is said and done.
- Attack Drone: His attacks basically amount to throwing his Zenimon at his opponents.
- Badass Mustache: Averted. He has a mustache, but before being defeated, he's shown to be manipulative and cowardly.
- Contest Winner Cameo: Ganemon was one of several winning fan-made Digimon designs from a contest held during the previous series, who first got shown off in the series' eye-catches before being animated here.
- Emotion Eater: Ganemon devours money, but it's the greed attached to it that powers him up.
- Golden Super Mode: Goes from brown-colored to gold upon powering up, and curiously retains it when he's defeated.
- Greed: As stated just before, he eats it.
- The Mustache Knows: It acts as a dowsing rod for the Zenimon.
- Not So Different: Once again, Averted. Hideaki and Tagiru both know that Hideaki's dream is nothing like Ganemon's goals, which only hurt people.
- Suitcase of Holding: What he keeps the Zenimon in.
- Verbal Tic, gane
SuperStarmon
A Digimon who resembles Starmon. He captured a number of famous individuals in order to put them in his "collection" of superstars, and intended to add Taiki to his list. Ultimately, he was defeated by a combination of Shoutmon X4, Arresterdramon, Astamon, and Tuwarmon, upon which he became a member of Yuu's Digimon team.
Voiced By: Yuji Mitsuya |
- Attack Drone: He can generate multiple smaller Starmon to attack for him, as well as move about and search for him.
- Back for the Finale
- Berserk Button: It's not a good idea to compare him to the normal Starmon.
- Catch Phrase: I'm SUPERSTARMON!
- Collector of the Strange
- Cool Shades
- Everything's Worse with Bears: His Starmon subordinates can turn into such a being.
- Graceful Loser: After being defeated, he releases the parts of his "collection", apologizes, and even compliments Tagiru on his actions during the battle.
- Gratuitous English: So much he's already giving Ryouma, Starmon, and Tuwarmon a run for their money.
- Large Ham
- Starfish Digimon
FlaWizarmon
A Digimon who grew stronger by absorbing the motivation of humans, leaving them listless and weak. Tagiru and Gumdramon went after him, only for Tagiru to become FlaWizarmon's next victim. He proceeded to take on Tagiru's personality, and as such, proved to be nearly unbeatable, until Tagiru regained his resolve and defeated him with the help of Arresterdramon.
Voiced By: Daisuke Sakaguchi |
- Back for the Finale
- Cool Hat: His hat is on fire.
- Determinator: Due to absorbing Tagiru's "determinator-ness". FlaWizarmon effectively weaponizes it, and uses it to survive being otherwise beaten by Tuwarmon and OmegaShoutmon. This folds like a house of cards once Tagiru points out it isn't really his determination, and is just stolen.
- Emotion Eater: Specifically, other people's motivation.
- Glasgow Grin
- Goggles Do Nothing: Had these before Arresterdramon did.
- Hot-Blooded: At first after absorbing the motivation of Tagiru's teacher, and then doubly so after absorbing Tagiru himself's.
- Improbable Weapon User: He wields two wands that look like matchsticks.
- Playing with Fire
- Simple Staff: Can join both wands into one of these.
Ogremon and Fugamon
Two Digimon who, in an attempt to improve their ramen, partnered up with the father of Tagiru's classmate, Masaru, whose own ramen was lacking. Together, the three of them became successful, with the side effect of all three coming to devalue their own customers. Masaru, Tagiru and the others challenged the ogres to a ramen contest, and when they lost, Ogremon and Fugamon attempted to take Masaru's father back by force. After being Hunted, both Digimon were brought to their senses.
Voiced By: Ryuzaburo Ohtomo (Ogremon) and Yasuhiro Takato (Fugamon) |

- Blazing Inferno Hellfire Sauce: Their preferred ingredient for ramen being red and green chili peppers.
- Epic Flail: Fugamon's HEAVY SWING!
- Gratuitous English: Both of them are partial to "MY GOD!"
- Jerks With Hearts of Gold: Once beaten, they agree to help Masaru's father improve noodles without demanding anything in return.
- Our Ogres Are Hungrier
- Palette Swap: Fugamon, as he's basically a brown Ogremon with a different loincloth.[27]
- Playing with Fire: Ogremon's HAOUKEN![28]
- Red Oni, Blue Oni: Well, more like Green Oni and Red Oni, in Ogremon and Fugamon's case. The less literal aspects of this trope are subverted in that their personalities are largely the same.
- This also applies to their preferred ingredients.
- Supreme Chefs: Subverted. Their noodles are great but their soup stock is atrocious.
- Stock Femur Bone: Ogremon and Fugamon's weapons of choice.
- Verbal Tic: "Ogre" and "Fuga". Guess which one uses which.
Phelesmon
A demon who feeds off the energy of human children. He disguises himself as an angelic figure who promises Makoto that he can make him get friends, but instead comes dangerously close to sacrificing their entire school to empower himself.
Voiced By: Ryo Horikawa |
- Evil Sounds Deep: His voice noticeably deepens when he removes his disguise.
- Make Me Wanna Shout: DEMON'S SHOUT!
- Meaningful Name: His name and motives are based on the demon Mephistopheles (incidentally, he is the second Digimon to be based on Mephistopheles; the first was Mephismon).
- Paper-Thin Disguise: His disguise as an angel wasn't angelic-looking at all.
- The Power of Friendship: A much, much darker and more sinister example than normal which veers right into Powered by a Forsaken Child.
- Taken for Granite: BLACK STATUE!
Patamon and Poyomon
A pair of Digimon that live together in an abandoned Power Plant. Recently, Patamon was caught in the trap of Airu when she came to the Power Plant in search of a cute Digimon. Poyomon, believing her to be a bully, attacked Airu and kidnapped Opposumon to get back at her. Eventually, Patamon is freed from the cage with the help of Kaoru and makes everyone promise to let them live in peace. Afterward, Patamon thanks Kaoru one last time before leaving.
- Blob Monster: Poyomon.
- Ear Wings: Patamon.
- Japanese Pronouns: Patamon uses Boku.
- Nice Hat: Poyomon keeps Kaoru's hat at the end.
- People Puppets: Poyomon can do this. Oddly enough, this is the only time a Poyomon has been shown to have this power.
- Pokémon-Speak: Poyomon uses poyo and poyon.
- Ridiculously Cute Critters
- Voluntary Shapeshifting: Poyomon.
Betsumon

- This can be used against him if someone else tells a really bad joke, as Taiki demonstrates.
- Master of Disguise/Becoming the Costume: He wears costumes of other Digimon and can use weaker versions of their moves. He even adopts their mannerisms and way of speaking.
- Beam Spam: Examon's PENDRAGON'S GLORY!
- BFG: Astamon's HELLFIRE!
- Hand Blast: DarkKnightmon's TWIN SPEAR!
- Laser Blade: Omegamon's GREY SWORD!
- Playing with Fire: Shoutmon's ROCK DAMASHII!
- Paper-Thin Disguise: His costumes are never quite right, always imperfect and having the appearance of being rather cheaply produced (which they are). Also, his actual face is never covered by the costume, which is Played for Laughs - when someone catches up with him in disguise, he turns around to reveal his true identity.
- Phantom Thief
Gokuwmon
A friend of Shoutmon and the servant of Sanzomon. He stopped Gumdramon during one of his trouble-making schemes to become strong and took him to his master, Sanzomon, for his punishment.
- Badass: He's the Digimon Sun Wukong, so of course he would be.
- Carry a Big Stick
- Everything's Better with Monkeys
- Power Limiter: The Kinkoji headband he wears
- Red Eyes, Take Warning
Sanzomon
A mysterious Digimon who is the master of Gokuwmon and (presumably) the ally of Shoutmon. She is the one responsible for imprisoning Gumdramon for running wild in the digital world, as well as placing the Kinkoji Power Limiter on his tail. Aside from this, very little is known about her as she has only appeared in a flashback so far.
- Absolute Cleavage
- Eyes of Gold
- Hair of Gold
- Prophet Eyes
- Stealth Mentor: The Power Limiter ring that she placed on Gumdramon's tail serves to inhibit his strength until he acknowledges the importance of his bond to his partner, at which point it starts strengthening rather than weakening him, subtly teaching Gumdramon the importance of fighting for the right reasons.
- Wild Card: While Shoutmon clearly doesn't see her as an enemy, it's not entirely clear just where Sanzomon stands or what her ultimate agenda is.
Ekakimon
A Digimon who brings Shouta's creative UMA drawings to life and is impassioned by Shouta's imagination. They come at odds with Tagiru and the others. When a powerful drawing runs amuck, though, he and Shouta work with them in destroying it. Ekakimon later voluntarily joins Tagiru.

Plesiomon
A Digimon protecting a single DigiTama in an deep-sea cavern in DigiQuartz, menaced by Dagomon. According to Shoutmon, she's a legendary Digimon that is rare to find.

Dagomon
A giant Digimon that was terrorizing Plesiomon in order to get her DigiTama and absorb it along with her to become stronger. He hypnotizes Mizuki as a plan to get through Plesiomon's barrier and attacks them once he succeeds. Eventually, he's defeated by a combination of Mizuki and Tagiru and is captured by the latter.

- Prongs of Poseidon: FORBIDDEN TRIDENT!
RookChessmon
A Digimon that Hiroya befriended as a KnightChessmon and helped him steal rare cards so he could be the best at a popular card game. However, RookChessmon was just using Hiroya to make himself stronger and bigger. As he sucked more and more of Hiroya's emotions, he went from a white KnightChessmon to a black one and eventually evolved into RookChessmon. Together, Yuu, Tagiru, and Taiki defeated the Digimon and it was captured by Yuu.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- KnightChessmon (Black), a form he took after taking enough of Hiroya's energy. The same as usual, but black in color.
- RookChessmon (Black), his super evolved form. A large castle based Digimon with several cannons attached to its body.
- Chess Motifs
- Hoist by His Own Petard: His defense was broken when his own attack hit his body, allowing the others to defeat him.
- Japanese Pronouns: Watashi.
- Our Centaurs Are Different
- Pint-Sized Powerhouse: He was very small when he first showed up, even smaller than the main character's Digimon.
Tropes associated with RookChessmon's Evolved or DigiXros forms: |

Bakomons
A group of Bakomon that work at Digimon Land. Their job is to invite children to the amusement park to play and have fun. As it turned out, the Bakomons were being used by Jokermon and Sephirotmon to get children so the latter can power himself up by eating them and absorbing their happiness. However, the brown Bakomon realized how wrong this was and helped Tagiru stop Sephirotmon from using the emotions he absorbed, allowing Tagiru to defeat it.

- Unwitting Pawns
- Verbal Tic: Bakomon, bako.
Jokermon and Sephirotmon
Jokermon is the manager of Digimon Land. He enlists the Bakomon to invite children to Digimon Land so he can feed them to the real owner of Digimon Land, Sephirotmon, and power him up. Once Tagiru, Taiki, and Yuu found out, they confronted the two Digimon. With the help of Bakomon, the children were freed and Sephirotmon and Jokermon were captured by Tagiru.

- Villainous Harlequin: Jokermon
MetallifeKuwagamon
A Digimon that caused havoc in DigiQuartz, leading Tagiru and Hideaki to investigate it. When Tagiru, Hideaki, and Kaneda ended up in DigiQuartz to search for it, MetallifeKuwagamon kidnapped Kaneda in order to hold him hostage. Eventually, they rescued Kaneda and Arresterdramon defeated him, but when Tagiru tried to capture him MetallifeKuwagamon revealed that he has already been hunted by an evil Digimon Hunter. Before he could explain more, Quartzmon came and absorbed him, killing the Digimon.
- Big Creepy-Crawlies
- His Name Is--: He is absorbed by Quartzmon before he could tell who the Hunter is.
- Killed Off for Real
- Roboteching: HOMING LASER!
Other Captured Digimon
The point of Digimon hunting: to capture and collect Digimon. Digimon encountered and defeated in Digimon Hunts can be captured and stored within the Hunters' Xros Loaders as part of their collection, and can be called upon like the main partner, or used to DigiXros.[30]
- Defeat Means Friendship: Once captured, they seem to be freed from whatever made them go berserk in the first place, and seem happy to help their Hunter out in battle in exchange.
- Fusion Dance: They can be DigiXrossed using the Xros Loader, much like in the previous series, creating a "Xros Up" form for the main Digimon in the pair.
Tropes associated with Tagiru's captured Digimon:[31] |
Voiced By: Daisuke Kishio (MetalTyrannomon); Shigeru Chiba (Sagomon); Takeshi Kusao (Blossomon); Takahiro Sakurai (Harpymon) |
- Blossomon
- Combat Tentacles
- Green Thumb
- Palette Swap: He's one with different colored petals, with them being pink instead of purple. This is actually a minor plot point, as it identifies him as a rare variation of the species.
- GigaBreakdramon
- Humongous Mecha: He fits this role, as he was created by a bunch of kids with Pinocchimon's help.
- Palette Swap: A recolor of the original Breakdramon in a different shade of green with purple highlights.
- Shout-Out: GigaBreakdramon's green-and-purple color scheme matches the traditional palette of some other heavy-machinery characters, the Constructicons.
- This Is a Drill
- Harpymon
- Feathered Fiend
- Loud of War: SILENT SYMPHONY!, which is oddly NOT Exactly What It Says On The Tin.
- Razor Wind: WIND SEEKER!
- MetalTyrannomon
- Dumb Muscle: He gives off this vibe whenever he's out and doing stuff.
- Everything's Better with Dinosaurs
- Hollywood Cyborg: MetalTyrannomon
- Mighty Glacier: MetalTyrannomon's emphasis is on defense, and he's not very fast, at least when compared to the more nimble Gumdramon/Arresterdramon and Sagomon.
- Tyrannosaurus Rex
- Wave Motion Gun: NUCLEAR LASER!
- Sagomon
- Blade on a Stick: Sagomon's "Kyouhoujo" staff.
- Kappa: Sagomon is this, as well as an homage to Journey to the West.
- Making a Splash

Tropes associated with Airu's captured Digimon.[34] |
- Ridiculously Cute Critter: This being Airu's preference in Digimon, this obviously applies to whatever she bothers to capture.
- Candmon
- Animate Inanimate Object
- One-Scene Wonder: So far, Candmon's only appearance has been to DigiXros with Opossumon.
- Playing with Fire
- Parasimon
- Big Creepy-Crawlies
- Combat Tentacles
- Eyes Do Not Belong There: His is on his hind end.
- Jerkass: Can't be controlled once he gets his hooks in someone, and seemingly manipulates them for the hell of it.
- People Puppets
- Puppeteer Parasite
- Shock and Awe: ELECTRIC BIND!
- Ugly Cute: Another in-universe example. Seeing it as this is the only possible reason why Airu would ever have something like it in her collection (according to her: "Kinda cute in a gross way, right?")
Tropes associated with Ren's captured Digimon:[35] |
- Bambification: Possibly averted by Moosemon, given Ren is an antagonist, and depending whether it'll be anything like what was described in its Bandai profile [36].
- Bat Out of Hell: PicoDevimon.
- Bigfoot, Sasquatch, and Yeti/An Ice Person: Mojamon.
- Biological Mashup: Chimeramon.
- Cool Plane/Giant Flyer/Macross Missile Massacre: Pteranomon.

- Humanoid Aliens/My Brain Is Big: Vademon.
- Killer Robot: Nanomon..

- Loads and Loads of Characters: Ren shows off his collection in episode four. He has sixteen captured Digimon, and we're only four episodes into the series!
- As of a more recent episode, he says he has about 100 of them.
- Morally-Ambiguous Ducktorate: Swanmon.
- Mythology Gag: Many of Ren's Digimon had roles as mooks or antagonists in previous series. Some, like Nanimon, Digitamamon, and Nanomon, were fairly prominent in Digimon Adventure.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: Bakemon.
- Stock Ness Monster: Plesiomon.
- Early-Bird Cameo: A (different) Plesiomon played a major role well after this one showed up in Ren's collection.
- Wrestler in All of Us: Nanimon.

Tropes associated with the staff on Kiichi and Locomon's train:[39] |
- All Hallow's Eve: Pumpmon, a Digimon with a Jack O'Lantern for a head.
- Carnivore Confusion: Pumpmon serves pumpkin-related snacks on Locomon's train. Considering how angry Jagamon, a potato Digimon, got at people for eating potato chips, this raises...interesting questions.
- Chest Insignia: The "D" on Dogmon's chest.
- Heroic Dog: Dogmon.
Tropes associated with Kiriha's captured Digimon:[40] |
Voiced By: |
- Volcdoramon
- Digimon of Mass Destruction
- Playing with Fire: VOLCANIC FOUNT!
- Spell My Name with an "S": "Volcdoramon" is the current official Romanization of his name, but it has a pretty obvious transliteration mistake in it. Accordingly, most people still call it by its slightly more sensible prior official Romanization: Volcdramon.
- Blob Monster: Numemon.
- Carnivore Confusion: Yakiimon, a sweet potato Digimon is seen giving kids baked sweet potatoes. Oddly enough, the other potato-based Digimon, Jagamon, attacked people for eating potato chips, it gets kind of confusing.
- Cool Train: The Trailmon.
- Everything's Worse with Bears: Monzaemon.
- Fog of Doom: Mokumon.
- Friendly Playful Dolphin: Rukamon.
- Heroic Dog: Dogmon.
- Mix-and-Match Critters: Pillomon.
- Our Ghosts Are Different: Ponchomon.
- Verbal Tic: Yakiimon, imo.
Diablomon
A Digimon that Tagiru encountered at his school as a Tsumemon. When he tried to hunt it, the Tsumemon super evolved into Keramon and began to fuse the real world and DigiQuartz together. As they chased it, the Digimon continued super evolving until it became the giant Diablomon. Eventually, it was defeated by Shoutmon X7 and was revealed to be a clone, created by Quartzmon.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- Tsumemon, a creature with one eye that resembles a combination of a clawed hand and a foot.
- Keramon, his first super evolved form. An octopus creature with large hands and constantly giggles.
- Chrysalimon, his second super evolved form. A chrysalis-like creature with powerful tendrils
- Infermon, his third super evolved form. A spider-like creature that has a gun in its mouth.
- Diablomon, his final super evolved form. A creature resembling the devil with long arms and horns.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever
- Chest Blaster
- Expy: The entire episode about this thing is a reference to Digimon Adventure's second movie, Our War Game; it's also the third Digimon production to featured an antagonistic Keramon, as there was such an episode in Savers as well.
- Hair of Gold
- Horned Humanoid
Tropes associated with Diablomon's Evolved or DigiXros forms: |
- Tsumemon
- Keramon
- Chrysalimon
- Infermon
Vamdemon
An army of clones created by Quartzmon to combat the heroes. Once Team Xros Heart fought back, the Vamdemon evolved into VenomVamdemon and BelialVamdemon and began to defeat them. Xros Heart was saved from the characters from previous series and the army was defeated.
Their evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- BelialVamdemon, a demonic creature with mouths on its shoulders and giant glider wings.
- VenomVamdemon, a gigantic monstrous version of Vamdemon.
- Blond Guys Are Evil
- Blue Eyes
- Degraded Boss: Once upon a time, back in Digimon Adventure, a single Vamdemon was actually a massive threat. That pretty much makes the mass creation and slaughter of them here ten times funnier.
- Our Vampires Are Different
- Send in the Clones
Tropes associated with Vamdemon's Evolved or DigiXros forms: |
- BelialVamdemon
- VenomVamdemon
Quartzmon
The Big Bad of this series. It is the creator of the DigiQuartz and has been designated as the final and greatest hunt target.
- Big Bad
- Expy: Design-wise, it has reminded many fans of the D-Reaper. It even plays the same trick by capturing people and imprisoning them inside giant tower-like form, and invading the human world, turning it into its territory in the process.
- His final form also has aspects of Apocalypmon, being a vaguely humanoid torso attached to a giant geometric object. In addition, his humanoid aspect is very reminiscent of Lilith.
- Eldritch Abomination: Certainly seems like one based on what we know of it thus far.
- Face Stealer: It can absorb the data of other Digimon and take their form or create clones based on that data.
- Foreshadowing: The floating islands that seem to be spawned by Quartzmon appear in the opening of the series long before first one of them appears in the series proper.
- Japanese Pronouns: Watashi.
- Meaningful Name: Obviously gives the name to the DigiQuartz. Going with the time theme in this series, the name might also refer to quartz clocks.
- One-Winged Angel: It first appears in the form of a Diablomon, taking its true form after Diablomon is defeated.
- In episode 24 it transforms again, from the tower form into a form resembling the D-Reaper's kernel sphere with four mechanical limbs.
- Send in the Clones: It can create hordes of clones of Digimon whose data it has absorbed. So far, it has shown doing this to the Diablomon line and Vamdemon.
- Shout-Out: Seems to be dedicated to creating these, as it has the ability to create clones of Digimon that have previously appeared as villains, like Diablomon and Vamdemon.
- Villainous Breakdown: When Tagiru and Arresterdrmon assault his core and have a real shot of defeating him.
Tropes associated with Quartzmon's second form: |
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever
- Chest Mouth
- Extra Eyes
- Multi-Armed and Dangerous
- One-Winged Angel
- Spider Limbs
Other Characters
Tokio Hinoki
A member of Tagiru and Yuu's school robotics club. Desperate to create a robot design capable of winning a competition, he and his friends are manipulated by Pinocchimon into helping him complete GigaBreakdramon.
Voiced by: Akemi Okamura |
- Back for the Finale
- Continuity Nod: Tokio shows up in the following episode, having apparently started showing up for class again. He crops up again in episode thirteen.
- Insufferable Genius: When under the effects of his desire.
- My God, What Have I Done?: His and his friends' reactions upon realizing just what their creation is capable of.
- Workaholic: Again, another effect of the aforementioned situation.
Miho Sudou
Another member of Tagiru and Yuu's class. Miho became frustrated with her jealousy towards students who did achieved higher scores than her, and thus became corrupted through contact with Blossomon, who helped her get revenge. She was ultimately saved and resolved of her issues thanks to Yuu and the other hunters.
Voiced by: Kaori Mizuhashi |
- Always Someone Better: Her original motivation.
- Back for the Finale
- Continuity Nod: Gets a background cameo in episode thirteen, once again in Yuu and Tagiru's class.
- Fan Girl: Seems to join the ranks of Yuu's fangirls, as she's shown cheering for him at the end of her episode.
- Insufferable Genius: Temporarily.
- Meganekko
- Mind Control Eyes: She gains markings around her eyes identical to Blossomon's, showing that the line where she begins and Blossomon ends have started to blur.
- Not So Different: Tries pulling this on Yuu, after sensing the jealousy in her heart, only to find out that despite his envy, he wasn't prepared to go to the same lengths as her.
- Scary Shiny Glasses
Musashi Kenzaki
A kendo practitioner who was beaten by Taiki and swore to defeat him. He became a student of Kotemon, who tried to help him improve his technique. Unfortunately, his strong desire to get stronger led to him being manipulated by Ren and Dracumon, who drove him to attack other kendo students as a tsuji-giri.
Voiced By: Fuyuka Ooura |
- Arrogant Kendo Guy
- Back for the Finale
- Expy: His backstory is similar to Zenjirou's, but his more antagonistic designs and status as a one-off character keep him from being a Suspiciously Similar Substitute.
- Meaningful Name: Musashi[43] Kenzaki.[44]
- Unwitting Pawn
Mr. Amano
Yuu and Nene's father, a prominent businessman. Because of his work, he is often estranged from his wife and children, but loves them very much all the same. That love, and worry for Nene over her idol career, is what led to Harpymon taking advantage of him and feeding off his feelings. Posing as a masked man, he was driven to attack anyone who he thought came close to Nene in order to protect her. When Harpymon was defeated, he was snapped out of it, and made peace with his daughter.
Voiced By: Toshio Furukawa |
- Back for the Finale
- Brainwashed and Crazy
- Celebrity Is Overrated: Does not approve of Nene's idol career due to believing this. He comes around after being saved from Harpymon and seeing her perform.
- Love Makes You Crazy: Though adding a Digimon to the equation certainly helps.
- Malevolent Masked Man: Due to being Brainwashed and Crazy.
- No Name Given: The credits literally list him as "Nene's papa," and he's never called anything but "father" and "papa" in the episode itself.
- Overprotective Dad
- When You Coming Home, Dad?: That said, he does legitimately care about his children.
Masaru and Katsuji
A father and son whose family own and operate a ramen restaurant. Katsuji was a decent ramen chef - whose personal recipe included a decent fish stock but less decent quality noodles - but a rival store began to take their business. Eager to improve his business, Katsuji accepted Ogremon and Fugamon's help, combining their recipes. Though the restaurant experienced better business, Masaru was ashamed to find his father becoming less and less concerned with satisfying his customers, even berating those who didn't care for the new recipe. Masaru challenged Fugamon and Ogremon to a ramen competition with Tagiru and the others' help, and snapped his father out of it by making Katsuji's original recipe. Ultimately, Katsuji improved business by reaching a compromise, accepting the two Digimons' contributions to improve his own recipe while keeping theirs on the menu as well.
Voiced By: Megumi Urawa (Masaru), Takuma Yamazaki (Katsuji) |
- Back for the Finale
- Calling the Old Man Out
- Cooking Duel
- One Steve Limit: Averted. While it's unusual enough for any Digimon character to share their name with another, the other Masaru appears as a major supporting character during the last few episodes.
- Ramen Slurp: Only natural that their episode brings about this trope.
- Supreme Chef: Averted, in the case of both father and son. Katsuji's ramen recipe is lacking on its own, and Masaru's isn't fit to be sold. It's only what it represented that had any significance.
- Unsatisfiable Customer: Subverted, in that Katsuji's inability to suffer any criticism of "his" new recipe is the source of the problem.
Makoto Tamura
A young boy who became desperate to have friends because of his constant moving around. He encounters Phelesmon disguised as an angel in DigiQuartz and is offered the chance to have friends by the Digimon. Makoto takes the offer and hypnotizes his class with the help of Phelesmon's power but eventually falls under the spell as well. Eventually, Tagiru manages to snap Makoto out of the spell and becomes his first true friend after Phelesmon is defeated.
- Back for the Finale
- Blush Sticker
- Brown Eyes
- Deal with the Devil
- Friendless Background
- Japanese Pronouns: Boku.
- Mind Control Eyes
Kaoru
A self proclaimed "Spirit Hunter" that investigates paranormal activities in order to prove that they can be explained through science. She enters an abandoned Power Plant with Yuu and Tagiru in order to explain the mysterious ghost sightings seen recently. She eventually finds the "ghost"--a Patamon-- and frees it from the trap that Airu had put it in.
Shouta
One of Tagiru and Yuu's classmates. He loves to draw, but the other kids in the class tease him for having a wild imagination. He eventually meets Ekakimon, a pencil Digimon who loves his imagination and can bring his art to life. When Tagiru, Yuu, and Taiki try to stop him from bringing his creations to life, Shouta and Ekakimon enter DigiQuartz to create the strongest UMA to battle them. However, it goes out of control until Shouta gives Arresterdramon an eraser to destroy it.
- Back for the Finale
- Brown Eyes
- Hoist by His Own Petard: Due to being angry while creating his strongest UMA, it goes out of control.
- Japanese Pronouns: Boku.
- Mix-and-Match Critters: His strongest UMA is simply a combination of his three-eyed Plesiosaur, the Dragon, the Cyclops, and the Big Hand Foot.
Hiroya
A kid who enjoys playing a popular card game but is unable to win due to not having stronger, rarer cards. He encounters a KnightChessmon and uses him to steal rare cards from other players. Unbeknownst to Hiroya, KnightChessmon was just using him and absorbing his greed for strength in order to super evolve into RookChessmon. After seeing Yuu defeat RookChessmon, Hiroya realizes that power is not all that one needs to be strong.
Kaneda
One of Tagiru and Yuu's classmates who has an obsession with insects. He attempted to capture a golden stag beetle that had bee recently seen in order to prove it as a new species. When he followed Tagiru and Hideaki into DigiQuartz, he captures it, only to find that it was a part of MetallifeKuwagamon. Afterward, he was captured by the Digimon and held hostage so it could escape.
- Berserk Button: He hates people who want to use bugs to get money. His belief that Tagiru and Hideaki intended to do this caused him to follow them and get sucked into DigiQuartz.
- Brown Eyes
- Japanese Pronouns: Boku.
- Nerd Glasses
- Scary Shiny Glasses
Returning characters and their Digimon
Characters from the five prior Digimon anime series. They were recruited from their own universes by the Watch Man and spread out throughout the world in order to combat the threat of Quartzmon's international apparitions, with the five leaders in particular - Taichi, Daisuke, Takato, Takuya and Masaru - required, as five of the six legendary heroes who saved their worlds (the sixth being Taiki himself), to come to Tokyo and help take on Quartzmon himself.
Tropes applying to the returning heroes in general:
- The Cameo: Silhouettes of other past characters not given a proper appearance are seen in the beginning of episode 24: (in order) Tamers!Beelzebumon, Sora and Garudamon, Miyako and Aquilamon, Ikuto and Ravemon, SaintGalgomon, Blitzmon, MagnaGarurumon, Iori and Ankylomon, Angemon, Angewomon, and Justimon. The brief appearances of Jou, Gomamon and Tentomon are this in a more conventional sense.
- Canon Immigrant
- Crisis Crossover
- Eleventh-Hour Ranger: All of them, being that they showed up in the fourth-last episode and didn't start really doing anything until the second-last.
- The Voiceless: A disappointing number of those who got prominent roles remained completely silent in their appearances. This got particularly awkward with some of the Digimon, because after all, this franchise is very well-known for Calling Your Attacks.
Digimon Adventure
Taichi Yagami
The leader of the Chosen Children of Digimon Adventure. He first showed up on a boat sailing through the DigiQuartz with other Digimon protagonists. Later, he showed up along with Masaru to battle a giant floating island with a face, saving Tagiru from being consumed by it in the process.

- Anime Hair
- Canon Immigrant
- Curtains Match the Window
- The Determinator
- The Hero
- Goggles Do Nothing: The progenitor of this trend, by proxy of Digimon V-Tamer 01.
- Hot-Blooded
- Non-Standard Character Design: Like in Adventure and Adventure 02, the non-whites parts of his eyes are entirely brown with no distinct pupil; Mimi, Daisuke, Ken, Yamato, and Jou aside, this is not the case for any other human in this series. This is particularly odd since Masaru's design was modified to conform with this series' art style, yet those from Adventure and Adventure 02 went untouched[45].
Agumon
Taichi's Digimon partner. He was first seen on a boat with his partner, and later appeared to battle against a giant floating island with a face, saving Tagiru from being consumed by it in the process.
His evolved and DigiXros forms in this series are as follows:
- WarGreymon, his Ultimate level form. An anthropomorphic dinosaur, with golden mech-armor.
- Omegamon, a fusion with MetalGarurumon. A white paladin-like figure wielding a WarGreymon-themed sword and a MetalGarurumon-themed cannon.
Voiced by: Chika Sakamoto |
- Bash Brothers: With Masaru's Agumon, it seems.
- Canon Immigrant
- Everything's Better with Dinosaurs
- One Steve Limit: Averted. There are multiple Agumon of some importance in the Xros Wars canon - this one, Masaru's, and the three that comprise a DigiMemory.
- Playing with Fire
Tropes associated with Agumon's Evolved or fused forms: |
- WarGreymon
- Omegamon
- Badass
- BFG
- Cool Sword
- Fusion Dance: Of WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon.
- Knight in Shining Armor
- The Paladin
- Your Size May Vary: In the original he's positively huge. In this series he's not too much larger than War Greymon and much smaller than Imperialdramon
Yamato Ishida
One of the Chosen Children of Digimon Adventure. He showed up in the final battle against Quartzmon to provide Taichi with MetalGarurumon to Jogress into Omegamon.
MetalGarurumon
The evolved form of Yamato's Digimon partner, Gabumon. He first appeared to battle against Quartzmon's forces and combined with Agumon to become Omegamon.
His fused forms in this series are as follows:
- Omegamon, a fusion with WarGreymon. A white paladin-like figure wielding a WarGreymon-themed sword and a MetalGarurumon-themed cannon.
Mimi Tachikawa
One of the Chosen Children of Digimon Adventure. She showed up along with Ruki where they are seen helping Kiriha and Nene. When Kiriha thanked her for having some help from Hunters, she and Ruki both held up their Digvice and D-Arc, respectively, to signify that they are not Hunters.

- Worf Effect: He's the only returning protagonist that just doesn't really do anything. He failed to kill a Belial Vamdemon, despite being in his first Ultimate form. He never got to use his second and far more powerful Ultimate form.in addition when he took on the form of Susanoomon all he really did was spear a VenomVamdemon. An agent of DATS in Digimon Savers. First showed up on a boat sailing through the DigiQuartz with other Digimon protagonists. Later, he showed up along with Taichi to battle a giant floating island with a face, saving Tagiru from being consumed by it in the process.
Voiced by: Soichiro Hoshi |
- Badass: Firmly cemented as of episode 24, in which Masaru does what Masaru does best: punch powerful Digimon and actually hurt them. In this case, it involves VenomVamdemon over like dominoes, and obliterating three BelialVamdemon with DigiSoul.
- How badass are we talking here? A couple of BelialVamdemon willingly threw themselves into the punchsplosion.
- Bash Brothers: Briefly with OmegaShoutmon, when they take on some BelialVamdemon together.
- Canon Immigrant
- Catch Phrase: "That's how a man lives!"
- Hot-Blooded
- Japanese Pronouns: "Ore" and "oresama".
- Leeroy Jenkins
- Non-Standard Character Design: Masaru retains the semi-realistic body shape that people in Savers had, albeit tweaked to the point where he doesn't look quite as buff as he did there and his facial design is in line with this series. This makes him look a lot taller than the semi-cartoonish characters of the previous and later series despite being in a similar age group. Then again, he is...
- Younger Than They Look
Agumon

- ShineGreymon, his Ultimate level form. A winged knight-like dragon-themed warrior.
- ShineGreymon Burst Mode, the Burst Mode form of ShineGreymon. Basically rhe same but recolored and has flaming wings, and a flaming shield and sword.
Voiced by: Taiki Matsuno |
- Bash Brothers: With Taichi's Agumon, it seems.
- Big Eater
- Canon Immigrant
- Everything's Better with Dinosaurs
- Expy: To Taichi's Agumon.
- One Steve Limit: Averted. There are multiple Agumon of some importance in the Xros Wars canon - this one, Taichi's, and the three that comprise a DigiMemory.
- Playing with Fire
- The Voiceless: In episode 78, which is weird because he was properly voiced just two episodes before.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Fried eggs.
Tropes associated with Agumon's Evolved or DigiXros forms: |
- ShineGreymon
- Everything's Better with Dinosaurs/Dinosaurs Are Dragons
- Playing with Fire: GLORIOUS BURST!
- The Power of the Sun
- Your Size May Vary: In Savers, ShineGreymon was so enormous that Masaru could stand on the palm of his hand. Here? Not so much - he's about as large as WarGreymon, maybe twice or three times Masaru's size.
- ShineGreymon Burst Mode
- "Agumon Burst Mode"
- Fan Nickname: If only because Bandai and Toei have said pretty much nothing at all about this form since its debut five years ago in the finale of Savers.
- Power Gives You Wings: Discussed by the other Agumon, who seems rather envious of this Agumon's access to this.
- Super Mode
- The Unexpected: Honestly, whoever expected to see this guy again? Even for the extremely brief period of time he was on screen.
