  • The two main reasons as to why Athena quit being a super hero for 18 years:
    • Yes, they mention she went through numerous embarrassing situations and molestations from villains in her bids to be a hero, but this incident is treated VERY seriously. At one point she was defeated by the villain Heavy Metal, he then kidnaps her and takes her to an uncharted island where he and countless other enemies of hers proceed to take turns gang-raping her over and over and over for who knows how long. What's also sad is that this apparently happened very shortly after she had lost her virginity to her husband B.M. the Shooter, so for all intents and purposes, she was still fairly new to sexual experiences. Also, Athena was pregnant with Clara at the time (it was the earliest stage, and possibly even a day or so after conception). The only reason she escaped was because B.M. showed up to rescue her, and the only reason Clara wasn't a miscarriage was thanks to her inheriting her mother's super powers which protected her even when she was basically just a fertilized egg.
    • Some time after that, Blowjob attempted to send a bomber with a powerful doomsday weapon to destroy Tokyo. Athena was caught up having to fight a strong villain while her husband got aboard the bomber and decided to destroy it before it reached Toyko from the inside, thus he sacrificed himself. We find out later that her husband actually survived, because he was actually rescued by the older version of herself that traveled time and when the bomber exploded, it threw them both forward into the time stream. MEANWHILE however, her younger self is left looking at the wreckage in tears... As she holds one hand gently over her womb. It's no wonder Athena is so protective and cares so much for Clara, because for 18 years, she was literally ALL she had left.
  • During Reflex/Reflection's espionage mission to spy on Clara and Athena, we find out something rather sad: For the last 18 years since Athena lost her husband BM the Shooter, one of the few sources of comfort/relief for her is playing with "toys" while looking at old pictures of him.
  • Sort of a "Fridge Tearjerker" is what happens to Clara over the course of the story until right before the end of the first 3 volumes. Basically, it amounts to nearly everything that Athena was trying to protect her from: Pain, molestation, rape, and loss. Just about all of those happen to her (to a degree).
    • It all starts when Athena finally reveals that she was the original 8th Wonder all along. At that very moment, Athena is shot with a blast from (a brainwashed) Artemis and is taken away. Clara starts going to various Blowjob bases, rampaging through them to force them to give her her mother back, but she has no luck... Until Point Blank helps her reach the correct base, but when she is reunited with her mother, she finds out that her mother had been sexually violated/tortured by Blowjob to the point where they brainwashed her into serving them, even fighting against Clara herself (something Clara was VERY upset about and hesitant to do). Clara winds up being defeated, but Point Blank manages to defeat her himself and free Athena from the control. When Clara finally comes to, she goes back into the Blowjob base, but when she catches up to Athena and Point Blank, she arrives just in time to witness them hit with a strange laser beam that seemingly disintegrates them both right before Clara's eyes! Get that? Clara basically saw her mother die, right in front of her.
    • 6 months later... Blowjob had successfully taken over Japan by holding (most of the entire city of) Tokyo hostage and destroying any bits of the government that resisted UNLESS they surrendered to Blowjob. N.U.D.E. had been ordered to disband as well, Commander Hanna was imprisoned, and as for Clara? She had had to surrender in order to protect the citizens, and was going to be executed. When we see Clara, she's fully naked and bound to a cross upside down. Blowjob decided to make a public broadcast of the execution on television. They then have a slime creature engulf her body and violate her in front of the world. When Clara declares that as her mother endured the same to protect her, she would endure it for the sake of the people, and then Blowjob drops her, and she falls toward a crowd of various villains below waiting to get ahold of her and rape her (just like what happened to Athena 18 years ago)...
    • Just then, Athena returns and swoops in to rescue her, and even introduce her or rather re-introduce her to Point Blank, who turned out to be Clara's actual father (much to Clara's shock and disbelief)! (Time travel!) Then, what amounts to a Super hero vs Super villain war breaks out with heroes and villains battling all around them, but then a giant mecha appears and starts destroying and vaporizing EVERYONE around them, hero or villain, foe or ally: Indiscriminate, genocide/extermination. This leads Clara to witnessing many people seemingly dying right before her eyes, including other heroes, her friends from N.U.D.E., and even her "father" whom she just found out WAS actually her father! This causes Clara to go on a nearly suicidal charge upon the mech that causes her to seemingly get vaporized too! However, as it turns out, Clara's 8th Wonder power sent her through time just as it had with her mother, and she arrives just in the nick of time to save her mother from being vaporized AND to end the fighting once and for all.
  • Artemis' story. She starts out growing up in the Floating City of Goddesses, and at the time she admired and looked up to Athena and Zenovia as though they were her big sisters. At some point however, Zenovia goes seemingly mad and leaves the floating city after having gone on a rampage. Not long after that, Athena left the Floating city as well (to chase after Zenovia) and neither one of them came back. Years later, she leaves the floating city to find them, and on the way down, she gets hit by a missile and her sacred clothes are blown apart. She goes down to Earth and infiltrates Clara's school as a guidance councilor. Eventually she reunites with Athena under the guise of a home visit to discuss Clara. She reveals to Athena that the current Queen of the Floating City wishes to retire, but is unable to do so since there are currently no worthy candidates (Artemis reveals that she has only managed to unlock the first 6 wonders/powers and that that seemed to be her limit) except however... For Clara. Clara it seemed had unlocked all 7 wonders and was fit for candidacy despite her young age, and Artemis wanted both Athena AND Clara to return with her. Athena refuses, and the two are forced into a duel to decide the matter. During said duel, Artemis gives Athena a little trouble at first, but then Athena decides to take a different approach, so she starts aiming for Artemis' outfit, then when Artemis' guard is down, Athena starts french kissing her, and while she's dazed, Athena flips Artemis over and starts fingering and licking her until eventually Artemis orgasms. Artemis admits defeat, but couldn't understand why the person she so admired would stoop to such dirty tactics. Athena tells her the story of Lady Godiva, and actually convinces Artemis that what Athena was doing and how she was raising Clara was the right thing to do, which at the same time makes Artemis sad because she once more saw how worthy Athena was to be the leader of their people. Artemis leaves, but then she gets ambushed by Zenovia, who captures her and rapes her repeatedly (which costs Artemis her sacred virginity AND disqualifies her from being a candidate for ascending the throne as Queen of the Goddesses) with sexual torture in an attempt to break Artemis' mind. It's unclear just how long she endured this torment, but eventually she is set loose and used as a puppet to capture Athena so that Athena would be subjected to the same mind control methods. Some time later, Artemis is sent out to capture Clara, but is defeated and is actually freed from the mind control. 6 months later... Artemis had been taken in by N.U.D.E., where she received treatment and started a relationship with Blue Skull, and adopted a new identity as "Black Bone", which she wears a full body suit and mask for. She supposedly had tried to help Clara when Blowjob was taking over, but was unable to do much to stop Blowjob or save Clara. Thus, when Athena finally returns, Artemis is left feeling ashamed to even face Athena due to her (Artemis') failures... Then, once the matter with Zenovia and Blowjob are settled and the war ends, Artemis chooses to stay on Earth instead of returning to the Floating City where she and Blue Skull's relationship continues and apparently they are both now into all sorts of dirty/kinky sex. Whether or not this actually means her relationship with Blue Skull is actually good for her or not is anybody's guess, but at least she's with him willingly rather than as a sex slave.
  • Zenovia's reasons for becoming a villain:
    • Initially, she and Athena were best friends, almost like sisters together in the City of Goddesses, and they were both developing their powers and unlocking the 7 wonders which made them both candidates for the throne. In fact, Zenovia was even doing super hero things before Athena, such as going down to Earth to try and help with a volcano eruption, but upon being caught in the blast, she found herself in the time stream and was shown a glimpse of the future where someone (whom she assumed was Athena) was Queen instead of her, and SHE on the other hand was imprisoned (and had assumed that it was also Athena's doing). Upon leaving the time stream, she returns to the City of Goddesses, goes on a rampage, and then leaves for Earth. On her descent, she gets shot down by a Chinese missile and crash lands in Japan. The Japanese government then capture her and experiment on her to try and figure out the key to her super powerful body, but when they are unable to do so, they change their approach and instead have her raped and forcefully impregnated by various monsters and super villains they had captured in an effort to create super human soldiers. This happened again and again and again until she was pregnant with what was likely to have been her final child. So she begged them to let her keep it, and in exchange for keeping the child, she was forced to create the original iteration of the Blowjob organization which was to act as a weapons test/demonstration for all the weapons and projects the government was working on. What no one expected however, was that Athena would come down to Earth after Zenovia and as the 8th Wonder super hero, crush Blowjob. Eventually, Zenovia was defeated and disappeared, taking the secrets of the government with her, while she raised her last child in peace.
    • A few years later... Zenovia is visited by Lady Death Stinger, and receives secret government information revealing that all the previous children she was impregnated with but were taken from her had been cast out after the fall of Blowjob, and had resorted to villainy, because they had no other idea on how to use their powers to survive. All while she was living in peace and ignorance with Point Blank, the rest of her children were suffering and lost. This led her to begin acting coldly toward Point Blank, AND to her reviving Blowjob in order to get vengeance on the government.
  • Zenovia's Heel Realization counts as well:
    • After revealing her past to Athena, she says that perhaps the reason she returned to villainy was to finally put an end to her family's suffering, by rising up so that Athena, as a hero, would destroy her AND her children who she saw were corrupted and lost. It's really sad to think of how broken and dead inside someone would have to be to say something like that.
    • Athena immediately slaps Zenovia and tells her that that logic was stupid and that getting herself AND her children killed was NOT a penance. Zenovia asks Athena what she should have done then if she knew? With how Clara turned out as a righteous heroine, what did she do that Zenovia missed? Athena tells her exactly what she did... While Clara grew up to be a kind and righteous hero, Athena never taught her any of that, she had never even told her about her powers or anything related to her time as a super hero. All Athena ever did was embrace her for who she was and tell her countless times that she loved her. Zenovia is clearly affected by Athena's words.
