  • The song "Heavy, Heavy" from the Dreamgirls soundtrack reveals how the relationships between the characters are breaking down. Apart from being an obvious allusion to Effie's weight, Effie seems to be singing it to both Deena and Curtis about her anger at being disgarded; and Deena could be singing it about Effie's jealously. It only recently dawned on me that it must have been written by Effie's brother Ce-Ce, who was referenced as writing the songs for the Dreams. Can't blame Effie for feeling rejected when her own freaking brother now seems to think she is a problem! - ruthb88
