Early Installment Weirdness/Film/Animated Films

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Examples of Early Installment Weirdness in Animated Films include:

  • The first Ice Age film featured humans and portrayed all of the animal characters more realistically. In the sequels, however, all of the humans are written out of existence and all of the animals are now the main inhabitants of the world.
  • In the first Madagascar film, Melman the giraffe is only slightly less neurotic than he is in later installments. He also speaks with a slight Brooklyn accent, and in some scenes even shows hints of a Brooklyn attitude.
  • The first film in The Land Before Time series films is actually the only one that is not a musical. It also has significantly higher animation quality and a much darker tone.
    • Justified very much so because it is one of the most infamous examples of progressively worse sequels - too many to go into.
