In The Premature Burial, Victorine LaFourcade breaks up with a poor journalist and marries a rich banker instead (probably due to pressure from her Blue Blood family.) The banker abuses her until she dies (or so they think), and her former boyfriend goes to her grave to take a lock of her hair. He finds that she's still alive, nurses her back to health and elopes with her. Overlaps with Crowning Moment of Awesome as he gets to keep her in the end when she refuses to go back to her abusive husband and a court rules in her favor because of the circumstances. Awww...
