Elsie Dinsmore
This Children's Literature series (28 books in all) was written in the 1800’s by one known as Martha Finley. They were supposed to not only entertain kids, but instill in them a desire to be more Christlike.Because they were written so long ago, sexism (and racism) runs rampant, and parent/child relationships are portrayed in a way that is almost horrifying.
However, this book is fairly popular amoung Christians, and a new series has been released, in which the racism and some of the parental abuse has been toned down.
