Errors in Continuity

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

When a magical, half-demon superheroine, a timid, gender-ambiguous swordsman, and the self-proclaimed greatest space pirate in the universe get together to read some bad fanfics, this happens. A commentary on just about anything. Rated for language.

Errors in Continuity is a series of MST fics by Zero VX. The main Fic features Raven from the Teen Titans, Crona from Soul Eater, and an OC named Subarashii, while the Soul Eater spin-off has Crona, Maka and Teen Titans (the entire team, not just Raven) hosting it. It mostly consists of the cast reviewing badly-written Fanfic, but also has an occasional aside chapter that deals with the group's lives outside of the theatre.

It's also one half of the Selfhood Crossover.

They all share the feature of allowing readers to send fan mail to the cast via reviews, and now giving gifts is also possible on a trial basis.

The Main fic can be found here.

And you can read the Soul Eater spinoff here.

And here. is the Teen Titans spinoff

Tropes used in Errors in Continuity include:
  • A Day in the Limelight: Subarashii gets one in Chapter 21 "Quality". It really helps flesh out his character.
  • Badass Boast: This is how Subarashii introduces himself.
  • Berserk Button: Maka + anything negative = Angry Crona.
    • Do not mention Ninja Jesus around Subarashii.
  • Crossover: The main concept of the series.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: Subarashii may be a pirate, but he's still enraged when the host reveals that Maka and Crona are fictional, causing them to go through Mind Rape.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep": The Host, who, well; hosts the show.
  • Fighter, Mage, Thief: The main cast fit this-- Crona = Fighter, Raven = Mage, & Subarashii = Thief.
  • Hidden Depths: Subarashii at first seems like a standard Deconstruction of OCs. Then chapter 21 happens and you just want to hug the poor guy.
  • Running Gag: Mostly averted. It gets to the point where the very idea of a Running Gag becomes a Running Gag.
  • Shipper on Deck: Subarashii for both the Crona/Maka and Crona/Raven ships (the latter of which he abandoned after learning of the health hazards involved).
  • Ship Tease: Probably the very first attempt to ship Crona and Raven.
    • Heck, the Author even says He's trying to get it going.
  • Sword and Gun: Subarashii carries a Sword and pistol. So far he's only used them on notes and fan mail.
  • Word of God: According to one fan, when asked how Raven could tell which letters she sent, the Author responded with "she compared the hand writing". This is never explained in the story proper.
