- Downplayed: Many people own arms, but they are only displayed on special occasions like military maneuvers or pageants involving the display of weapons.
- Justified: It is a dangerous neighborhood with nasty people around.
- Inverted: Only elites and their servants are allowed arms.
- Subverted: Everyone is theoretically allowed to be armed but the regulations for ownership are deliberately made to esoteric for anyone to master without a lawyer.
- Double Subverted: So the proles simply learn to fight with farm implements.
- Parodied: Everyone has a squirt gun. And uses it to shocking effect!
- Zig Zagged: Personal weapons are allowed especially those for ceremony or sport or obvious self-defense/survival needs. Really hefty firepower gets more complicated and the need for it sometimes has to be proved.
