Evil Makes You Ugly/Playing With

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Basic: An evil character gets mutated or deformed due to their evil ways.

  • Straight: Bob is an evil supervillain who is horribly deformed due to his meddling in dark magic.
  • Exaggerated: Bob becomes too ugly to step outside through his meddling, as most people get violently ill upon seeing him.
  • Justified:
    • Bob is experimenting with gene-splicing to change his looks and it goes horribly wrong.
    • Bob's source of evil power causes mutations, and mutations among the people who meddle with this power is a regular occurance amongst them.
    • Bob uses dark magic to keep himself immortal, but not necessarily from aging, so he ends up looking really old.
  • Inverted: As Bob continues to dabble in dark magic, he becomes more and more attractive.
  • Subverted: Bob is warned that his dabbling will cause horrible mutations to his body, but he is careful and is able to avoid any changes...
  • Doubly Subverted: ...until he takes it one step too far and things get very bad, very quickly.
  • Parodied: Bob is in constant competition with his super villain rivals to see who can make themselves the ugliest through practicing dark magic.
  • Deconstructed: Bob's mutations through dark magic cripple him and are so hideous that all his followers abandon him, leaving him weak and alone.
  • Reconstructed:
    • Bob discovers an antidote that will reverse the crippling mutations without forcing him to give up dark magic.
    • Alternatively: Bob's dark powers fix his physical disabilities, and make him powerful enough to take on the world himself, even as they warp him into something that can best be described as "Lovecraftian".
  • Zig Zagged: Bob dabbles in a wide variety of magical schools and is constantly mutating into different forms, with some being attractive and some ugly.
  • Averted: Bob's devotion to dark magic never affects his appearance.
  • Enforced: The film is being written as An Aesop concerning irresponsible dabbling into new sciences and technologies.
  • Lampshaded: On one of Bob's dark magic kits: "Warning: Side effects include boils, moles, unusual hair growth, and other deformities."
  • Invoked: Bob is tired of being so good-looking, so he pursues dark magic because it is rumored to make people uglier.
  • Defied: Bob decides to give up on dark magic when he learns about the consequences it could have on his body.
  • Discussed: "Bob, haven't you seen what happens in the movies. Don't you realize that all this dark magic is going to leave you twisted and deformed?"
  • Conversed: "You ever notice how all these evil supervillains get uglier and uglier over time?"
