Fate of the Jedi/Nightmare Fuel

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Abeloth herself. She causes most of the Nightmare Fuel in the series and on this page through her actions, words or simply being what she is.
    • The fact that Sinkhole Station and Centerpoint Station were built to contain her, along with two black holes, speaks volumes about how dangerous Abeloth is.
    • There's her true form, which is revealed after Vestara sees through Abeloth's glamour, which looks like something straight out of Lovecraft's works.

"... something tall and vaguely human, with a long cascade of yellow hair that reached nearly to the ground. Her eyes were tiny and deep-sunken, like two stars shining out of a pair of black wells, and she had a large, full-lipped mouth so broad that it reached from ear to ear. Her stubby arms protruded no more than ten centimeters from her shoulders, but in place of fingers, her hands had writhing tentacles so long that they hung down past her knees. The body was as straight as a tree trunk, and as she started downstream to the place where Vestara and Lady Rhea would be coming ashore, her legs did not seem to swing forward so much as ripple."

      • While Luke already encountered Abeloth's true form during his out-of-body trip into the Force realm, complete with the above description, this is the first time Abeloth is identified. The fact that she's targeting both Jedi and Sith also foreshadows her power and how dangerous she is.
    • The first time she's shown Force-draining someone with the Jedi Dyon Stadd. Even worse, since by that point he'd fallen under Abeloth's sway, Stadd was convinced that Abeloth was a loving and motherly figure.

"Her hair sprouted, grew, undulating as it rippled to her feet, and the hands, the strong, human hands that had cupped his face so tenderly now became tiny, slimy tentacles that seemed to thrust into his skull, into his brain, and suck out what they found there.'
A terrible heat, white hot, seared him there, and he smelled burning flesh. Then his heart spasmed in terror as she moved that hideous, huge mouth closer, closer, until it was touching his own.
She pulled back, and a glowing golden mist clung to her lips. The mist grew, mercifully obscuring her face as she extracted—'
A deep, agonized groan was ripped from Dyon, hauled from his innermost soul, floating on that golden mist. Every limb, every centimeter, every cell of him was coming under attack. It was not like the searing, focused pain in his temple; this pain was aching and deep. ."

    • According to the alien race the Thuruhts, Abeloth was part of a prophecy about the apocalypse for the Star Wars galaxy. Either her return was a sign that the End Times for the Star Wars galaxy had begun or, even worse, that Abeloth would cause the apocalypse herself.
    • About Force Psychosis (see below), Abeloth's the one causing it, its final effect is to fall under her sway and the only way to stop it is to either learn the truth about Abeloth or weaken or kill her.
    • Regarding Sinkhole Station, Abeloth is the reason the beings on board are dead or dying, and the ones letting themselves starve to become "one with the Force" are really under her sway and being fed on by her. Then later in the third book, she causally obliterates Sinkhole Station and escapes The Maw.
  • Sinkhole Station. Located between two black holes, it's a ghost station full of dead bodies, failing systems, and a dangerous cult.
  • The dangerous cult is the Mind Walkers. They walk in the Beyond Shadows realm and are happily letting themselves die slowly so that they can become 'one with the Force'. They're so devoted to it, when Luke and Ben try to stop their "meditations", the Mind Walkers start shooting themselves in the head with their blasters! Even worse what they think is "becoming one with the Force" is actually being consumed by Abeloth.
  • Force Psychosis. It's characterized by the effected person becoming convinced that everyone who's not also effected is an impostor, they develop new and unprecedented Force powers and they fall under Abeloth's sway. If Ben's nightmare involving him going batshit insane because of it is true, this will only get worse.
  • Never step into the Lake of Apparitions unless you want to end your life in Depths of Eternity.
  • Drinking or getting submerged into the Pool of Knowledge will turn you into an Eldritch Abomination. It nearly happened to the Sith Taalon before Vestara killed him and bathing in it was half the reason Abeloth became what she is. Taalon's body even mutated into something resembling Abeloth's true form.
  • The drochs, which are bugs that cause the Death Seed plague. They burrow into your flesh and slowly eat you alive from within, and once they infect you, they are completely undetectable.
