  • The particular herb that Tunnel Rat identifies for treating Scarlett's reaction to the poison is plantain, also known as plantago. Plantago was brought to North America by European colonists, and promptly spread over the entire continent like Alien Kudzu- Tunnel Rat locating it so quickly was less a matter of finding just the right herb at a critical moment, and more like a trained survivalist believably remembering that there's a weed which has anti-toxic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-histamine properties that is so widespread that the least believable part is that that he had to look as long as he did to find some. On top of that, plantain is widely believed to cure snakebite.
