Award Snub: So very much. Issac Asimov announced him as the winner of the 1970 Nebula for best short story with "The Island of Doctor Death and Other Stories" at the awards banquet. However, Asimov made a mistake- no award was given that year. 1970 was the ONLY year no Nebula award was given for best short story. Wolfe came back and wrote "Death of Doctor Island" which won the 1978 Nebula for best novella. Also, Wolfe has been nominated eight times for a Hugo award and has yet to receive one.
