Anvilicious: HIV and AIDS tests on this show whenever any two people have sex. Out of the entire cast only Ajax caught something and it was Chamladyia, the writers seem to have caught on though and now only do it during AIDS awareness month.
Base Breaker: Tau coming back and taking Karabo away.
- Noluntu, is she an unforgivable nymphomaniac who will go after any man regardless of sexuality or a poor girl who tries to find the love she never got from her emotionally and physically distant parents? This seems to have waned and many now consider her The Scrappy due to the arguement where she accuses her mother (Who at this point has given her a job as editor of a magazine, lets her live in her luxury home and dispelled a sex tape of her's) of wanting to ruin her and her fathers relationship but there still seems to be some debate over that as well.
- After the first Senzo/Jason kiss, shipping wars broke out between Senzo/Jason shippers and Jason/Dineo shippers which led to the creation of two (Disturbingly popular) opposing Facebook groups.
Creator's Pet: Jigga, suddenly a soap about adults working in magazines and advertising decides to have a kid as part of the main cast. He helps the police catch cocaine dealers, then Ajax and Zamani decide to give him a place to live, it’s made a big deal of about him failing his final exams and then when Ajax and Zamani make a big deal about it he gets angry and moves to Ma Ruby’s and everybody’s so charmed by his awesome boyishness that they give him everything he wants. There were many sighs of relief when he left to go live with them.
Ensemble Darkhorse: Queen. Jason.
- Belinda, who is Ax Crazy and is not afraid to show it.
Fandom Rivalry: With Scandal fans.
- And most recently with The Wild fans, due to Connie Ferguson's (Karabo) involvement with the project.
The Scrappy: Steve, for being a Flat Character and breaking up fan favorites Queen and Lungile.
- Grandpa Memela, whose entire schtick is backwards attitudes because he's old.
- Despite having a fandom even after trying to break up Senzo/Jason by going after both of them, Noluntu seems to have crossed the line into scrappydom when she verbally attacked her mother.
Memetic Mutation: Queen, darling.
Pandering to the Base: Tau, not a good idea though…
Never Live It Down: There were still topics on some forums about Tau’s death, over five years ago.
Relationship Sue: Tau is Karabo's soulmate and not much else when he returns.
Ruined FOREVER: When Karabo left, when Tau came back, when Grace left, when Ajax started dating again after Grace left, when Paul died, the beginning of Sharon's Chickification, when Kenneth left, when Phenyo was revealed to be Senzo's long lost cousin, when Queen and Lungile broke up, it happens a lot actually.
Unfortunate Implications: Khethiwe just aborted her child with Khaphela, that means she’s a Complete Monster who would kill anyone!
- Khaphela then blackmailed her into having another child with him and everybody acted like Khethiwe was being irrational when she didn't want to carry it to term. She eventually ends up falling in love with him which many viewers saw as Stockholm Syndrome.
