Getting Crap Past the Radar/Tabletop Games/Card Games

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Examples of Getting Crap Past the Radar in Card Games include:

  • The Yu-Gi-Oh! card game is notorious for being overly censored outside of its original Japanese release... Which makes it much more baffling that these somehow managed to get past the strict censorship regimes imposed by the international QC team. Examples include:
    • The TCG versions of both Harpie Lady and Harpie Girl were originally released with their original OCG arts, but were later censored in subsequent reprints.
    • Aqua Chorus. You have to look very closely, but the dress is see-through. And yes, and those are nipples in the artwork.
    • Both Fairy's Hand Mirror and Spring of Rebirth feature fully naked angels on their arts, and both were never censored in the English version of the game.
    • Drillago has an... Umm... "Drillbit" sticking out right on its crotch area.
    • The Thorn Prisoner theme has all sorts of hardcore BDSM applied on its members' design, such as Van hanging from a cross and Darli being perpetually Bound and Gagged to a breaking wheel.
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel, being aimed at both actual children and older fans who were rather tired of the OCG, would unsurprisingly have this (although the explicitly kodomo-based playerbase do require the art team to hold back a little on things like explicit nudity and gore, which can be seen with the lighter tone of the general art direction in the game). Some examples:
    • The DARK Aqua monsters revolving around the Prison Island Ane Go Rock are themed around prison warden... With heavy BDSM undertones that would most likely go over the head of a good number of kids, but not the adults.
    • While not as explicit as the above example, Accel Wonder Supra does have a rather suggestive kneeling pose, which becomes raunchier combined with her eye-covering veil. The way she holds her staff certainly doesn't help.
    • Look at Handy Lady's name and design, and then look at her flavor text.
    • While not the most explicit example around, the artworks for some of the Psychic Musician-related cards such as Stardom Light and Excite Time are at the very least raunchy enough to just casually appear in a game with a general age rating as low as Rush Duel.
    • Speaking of, one of the more explicit examples in the game would be the LIGHT Fiend monster Royal Demon's Avant-garde, whose appearance is literally a girl in skimpy outfit being Bound and Gagged.
