- Jerk God Mode Sue -- Golgo 13, aka Duke Togo, is a Draco in Leather Pants Badass Cold Sniper with a 100% accuracy rating, is a multi-billionaire, has played a hand in just about every historical event of the past forty years, and beds just about every woman he comes in contact with (and is awesome in bed, no less)... but it all kind of works, doesn't it?
- It helps that the series focuses more on the events that require his intercession than on Duke Togo himself as time goes on. His overwhelming ability is doled out in controllable doses.
- That said, it's hard to see a man who appears to never be happy as a wish fulfillment character.
- Memetic Mutation -- Duke's face has gone memetic much like the Yaranaika face among Japanese artists, and gets slapped on just about any character's face as a source of quick comedy due to its out-of-place 'coolness'.
- Moral Event Horizon -- In the first anime movie The Professional, Corrupt Corporate Executive Leonard Dawson, seeking revenge for the assassination of his son Robert, crosses the horizon when he becomes desperate enough to concede to a Psycho for Hire's demand to be allowed to rape Robert's wife. And things get worse from there.
- In the series, Togo passes a potential MEH of his own when he sleeps with and later kills an innocent who makes the mistake of following him to a job.
- Duke himself has standards; leaving witnesses around is a bad idea, in any case.
- Duke has less standards than it being a case of pragmatism. In any other series, he'd be a Complete Monster.
