Gosei Sentai Dairanger/YMMV

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Awesome Music: When they pull their roll call, one of the most awesome songs played in Sentai history is played. It really fits the scene.
  • Complete Monster: Colonel Shadam. Responsible for many bad things in the series on top of the fact that he cares nothing for his two sons and wife, his amazingly abusive treatment to Akomaru is the ultimate proof of this. He also doesn't give one freaking shit about any of his subordinate and the fact that they are clay dolls created by him and plan to discard them once they are useless for him make this even worse.. During the battle for the Gouma throne, he was beaten by Doushi Kaku, but then Kaku showed mercy... which enables Shadam to turn the tables and does he show mercy in return? Nope, it's a brutal beatdown and outright brutal murder. One more clincher: amongst those clay dolls is his master, so he basically doesn't give shit to his OWN RACE.
  • Ear Worm: "Tenshin daaa-! Woah woah woahwoah~ Kiryoku daaa-! Woah woah woahwoah~"
  • Fan-Preferred Couple: Rin and Ryou are the only Dai Tribe descendants. Outcome is obvious.
  • Hilarious in Hindsight: In episode 2, Shōji crosses a bridge leading to a ship full of Gohma by gripping along its lower rails a la Solid Snake.
  • Nightmare Fuel: Surprisingly NOT the monster, but Ryou's Training from Hell. Imagine you are attached with A LOT of steels that makes your whole body bleed, and you're supposed to go through an extensive training while doing that, and all the while, your body just go through pains and through. Ryou's screams of pain just sounded off... creepy...
  • So Cool Its Awesome: At one point, Ryūseioh rides Won Tiger towards a Gohma in an utter subversion of Tiger Versus Dragon.
  • Vindicated by History: It was, due to a Tough Act to Follow by Jetman. This generation seems to be more forgiving, since Kung Fu and Martial Arts are awesome, mix that with Sentai and whoooah.
  • Visual Effects of Awesome: The Ryuseioh puppet remains one of the most impressive mecha models in Sentai history. There's a reason why it gets shown off so much in the opening credits.
