Graduados

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.
Before...
...and after

Graduados is a 2012 Argentine comedy. It is about a group of former 80's high-school students, who grew up since then, and life led them to many paths.

Loli is married with Pablo, but she had a relation with Andy in the past, and she discovered that her son Martín was actually Andy's son, not Pablo's. Andy is also a friend of Vero and Tuca, who run a radio. Vicky is Loli's best friend. Loli's father Clemente run the Macan enterprise, were other former students work, as Guillermo. Finally, unknown to all, Patricia Longo is actually Jimena Benitez, the ugly and fat girl who was rejected by everybody, who became thin, changed her face and name, and swore vengueance against all her former mates.

Tropes used in Graduados include:

  • Adult Child: Andy still behaves as if he was a 15 years old teenager, and not a grown up man.
  • All Girls Want Bad Boys: Loli wants Andy, when when he's just a lazy who takes dogs for a ride, and her husband works in an important firm.
  • All Jews Are Ashkenazi
  • Auto Erotica: That's how Andy and Loli gave birth to Martín
  • Benevolent Boss: Clemente
  • Comically Missing the Point: Aware that Patricia is hiding something, Loli, Guillermo and Vicky took a strange CD from her. It was a commercial of a great german doctor, who made several types of body operations (including the classic "before" and "after" images). Did they suspect that Patricia was fat and now thin, or that she changed her face? No: they thought she was a man, turned into a woman.
  • Coming Out Story: Guillermo is gay, and in fact he was all the time, even during high school, but he only said it openly during the reunion of former students. They were all shocked, but supported him... with the exception of Pablo
  • Fat Bastard: Played with. Patricia was fat, she's not fat anymore, but being fat turned her into a bastard, who wants vengueance against those who laughed about her.
  • Flash Back: It is done all the time, to mention events that took place during their high school years.
  • High School Rocks: for all the former students, except for Patricia, for whom High School Is Hell
  • The Eighties: it is all a monument to the decade. There are constant evocations and nostalgia. Even to the point that the high-school students graduated in... 1989
  • The Lancer: Vicky
