Halo: Reach/Trivia

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

  • Ascended Fanon: It's hard to say if this was Bungie's plan from the beginning, but Dr. Halsey's journal implies the Fanon theory that Halsey is Miranda's mother is true.
  • Bonus Material: Gamers who bought the pre-ordered, or bought the Legendary or Limited Editions got differing amounts of extra goodies, ranging from exclusive armor pieces, flaming helmets, avatar items, a real-life replica of Dr. Halsey's journal, or a even a big ol' diorama of Noble Team.
  • Doing It for the Art: Even though Halo: Reach was never originally planned, it's clear from the many new features and remarkable polish that Bungie is by no means phoning it in.
  • Fan Nickname: Or rather, Developer Nickname. The Grenade Launcher can be used in two modes, both of which require careful aim and timing to use properly. The skill required for effective use has earned it the moniker "Pro Pipe", in contrast to the so-called "Noob Tube" grenade launcher in Modern Warfare.
  • Hey, It's That Voice!: Marlo Stanfield (Knox to you Heroes fans) is Emile. Which says so much about his character.
  • Urban Legend of Zelda:
    • Despite the game only just coming out, the lack of a Legendary ending and apparent confirmation from Bungie in a commentary video that there IS some sort of bonus ending has already lead to massive amounts of speculation on how it may be unlocked.
    • A whole mess of rumors surround the Data Pads littered throughout the levels, as well as hidden switches off the normal paths.
    • And technically playing on Legendary does change one thing: Keyes refers to Halsey by her first name when talking to Six in the penultimate level.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • According to Bungie, the original plan called for Noble Team to escape the glassing of New Alexandria by hijacking a Covenant scarab, then letting the player pilot it out of the city.
    • And the huge-scale battle cutscene at the beginning of Tip of the Spear? That might have been partially playable, judging from some cut content videos.
    • Concept art and demo videos exist for a "Warthog of the Seas" a.k.a. a speedboat with a turret.
