The Other Darrin:
- In Ep. 4, Haruhi was voiced by Sydsnap, temporarily replacing the main voice actress (MewVenus) who was unavailable at the time.
- Mikuru's voice, which usually changes for comedic effect, was definitely replaced in Ep. 9, discussed by Kyon/the creator In-Universe.
- Conversed in Ep. 10. After Haruhi and Kyon leave to investigate:

Mikuru: (male voice) Hey! We're important characters!
Yuki: Coming from the person whose voice changed, like, five times.
Mikuru: Your voice changed too, you saucy motherfucker.
Yuki: No idea what you're talking about, you wet noodle.
Kyon's sister: (low male voice) As Kyon's sister, I must say, this is indeed an outrage.

Shout-Out
- In the original Ep. 1, "As I was nodding nearly napping Suddenly there came a tapping ON THE BACK OF MY FUCKING SKULL!" is a parody of "The Raven" by Edgar Allan Poe.
- In Ep. 1 Redux, Kyon thinks "Reapproach. Adapt. Overcome," a parody of the Marine Corp mantra "Improvise. Adapt. Overcome."
  - Later in the episode, Haruhi tells Kyon her wish to create a club for finding either Bigfoot or Sayans.
- In Ep. 4, just as Kyon is saved from Ryoko's assault by Yuki, he shouts "That's my horse!", a reference to a song in Ed, Edd 'n' Eddy that is played in a game where the goal is to physically harm the other player.
- In Ep. 9, Kyon and friends make Koizumi make doorbell sounds and sing the "A Thousand Miles" pre-chorus between the noise.
  - "Hello, sir and/or madam!" (from Catch-22)
  - A variation on Monty Python and the Holy Grail: "One, two.. seven!"
