Instant Death Bullet/Playing With

Everything About Fiction You Never Wanted to Know.

Basic Trope: One bullet seems to kill someone in an instant.

  • Straight: Bill shoots Mac in the leg and Mac instantly dies.
  • Exaggerated: Bill takes down mob after mob, shooting them in comically non-lethal areas such as the finger and the toe, and they all die instantly.
    • The moment a bullet hits something, it is instantly deleted from reality.
  • Justified: It was a shot to a vital spot of the brain or the heart.
    • Alternately, the bullet is a special bullet designed to instantly kill anyone it hits.
  • Inverted: Bill shoots Mac's corpse and he springs back to life.
    • Only a Flesh Wound
    • A gunshot wound, even a headshot that splatters someone's brains across the room, invariably means a slow, agonizing death.
  • Subverted: The shot seems to kill Mac but he comes back a scene later...
  • Double Subverted: To die from a second bullet later.
  • Parodied: The gun shop Bill frequents is advertising the Super Bullet, which is guaranteed to drop your opponents even if it just grazes them.
    • Anyone who touches a bullet instantly dies. Instead of being shot from guns, bullets are thrown from catapults in large numbers.
  • Deconstructed: There is such a thing as Instant Death Bullets, unfortunately, they are in the hands of the toughest mobs in the world.
    • A cop thinks he killed a thug when he shot him but when he had his back turned, the thug shoots him dead.
  • Reconstructed: Soon, some cops get a hold of the bullets and make their own.
    • The thug stayed dead.
  • Zig Zagged: Bill shoots Mac, who appears to die instantly. Then, as Bill turns to walk away, Mac opens his eyes, crawls forward, and shoots Bill...who dies instantly.
  • Averted: Mac gets shot and lives long enough to bleed out and deliver a Final Speech.
  • Enforced: The producers of this film are big on gun control and want to reinforce how deadly guns can be
  • Lampshaded: “This gun shoots death!”
  • Invoked: Bill has some targeting practice to make everyone of his bullets cast death when they are shot.
  • Defied: Bill has some targeting practice to avoid shooting Mac in a vital area.
  • Discussed: "Well, I guess one shot is all it takes..."
    • "Wow, he died rather quickly, considering I shot him in the foot..."
  • Conversed: "I really like Tropers on Tropes, but that scene when Alice falls over after being shot feels a bit off to me..."
