Nicole Silverwolf

  • Recommended by albino-ottsel
  • Synopsis: Most of her Jak fics are oneshots that concentrate on Jak and Daxter's (and sometimes Sig's) friendship. A good number are also "cutscene connections" that show a little before-and-after.
  • Comments: Her writing is free of jarring misspellings and horrible grammar, and strikes a good balance between detailed and succinct.

General Fics

Stories focused on the family and the friendly relationships of the cast. Plot-focused stories or light day-in-the-life stories. Pretty much anything that isn't focused on romance.

Constant Satellite by Nicole Silverwolf

  • Recommended by albino-ottsel
  • Synopsis: Precursors, they couldn't get this wrong. Friendships like theirs weren't supposed to end like this. He'd made a promise. Extension of the intro to Jak 3.
  • Comments: A touching tribute to Jak and Daxter's friendship as Daxter races to get onto the Air Train before Jak is taken to the Wasteland.
  • Status: One-shot

A Shoulder to Lean On by P.A.W.07

  • Recommended by katamariape
  • Synopsis: It had been a surprise for Torn when the Ottsel came back to Headquarters … alone. It was also a surprise that he decided to care at all. No pairings. Based around Jak 2.
  • Comments: A deep probing of both Daxter's character and Torn's that revolves around an AU setting where Jak is (presumed, no official word yet) dead. Although the story has yet to leave the Headquarters, P.A.W. has kept this an addicting and emotional read, especially when she focuses on how Daxter's transformation and reliance on Jak has affected him mentally.

A Matter of Time by Lithic Rune

  • Recommended by Jesajew
  • Synopsis: When Jak first landed in Haven City, Erol wasn't the one to find him. Now he must face a future he is ill prepared for, and even with help from Sig and Damas, there's no guarantee that he'll survive.
  • Comments: An incredibly fun adventure with a very uncommon protagonist, for this fandom: Pre-Jak 2 Jak. Well-written, with an original, engaging plot and good characterization.

Reset by Lithic Rune

  • Recommended by Jesajew
  • Synopsis: Sometimes all it takes is an off-course machine to change the course of time. Jak never made it to the future of his birth. Instead Damas came to the past.
  • Comments: Ditto my comment for A Matter Of Time. Lithic pays attention to the most ignored characters and settings in the J&D universe and gives us some amazing interactions(Damas meeting Boggy Billy!), all with characterization and dialogue so perfect it could have come straight from the game.

Nighttime Getaway by Gentle Breezes

  • Recommended by albino-ottsel
  • Synopsis: Seem-centric. No dirt. There are nights when the air in the desert is so calm and still that it's stifling to stay in one place. It is during those time that Seem runs away, retreating into the arms of the desert.
  • Comments: A nice story that gives a bit of backstory and depth to a severely underdeveloped character.
  • Status: One-shot.

Revelations by Von

  • Recommended by klepto
  • Synopsis: Sig was sent to Haven to search for Damas' son. He found him. AU. Set between Jak II & 3. No Ships..
  • Comments: A story in which Jak meets Damas under a different set of circumstances. There is a sequel up, also.
  • Status: Complete

Shipping Fics

Stories focused on the romantic relationships between the cast.

Introspective Hero by Weilla (Slash)

  • Recommended by Jesajew
  • Pairings: Onesided Jak/Daxter, Daxter/Tess
  • Synopsis: Through all the mistakes he has done, and all the horrors of his existence, Jak knows that he'll always be able to count on Daxter to remain by his side. And that means more to him than even the fuzzball realizes. Takes place in Jak 3.
  • Comments: One of the best fics in this entire fandom. Incredibly well-written, with an interesting storytelling gimmick that provides intriguing, well-characterized insights into the minds of various characters. Lovely portrayal of Jak and Daxter's relationship. Gets bonus points for portraying Daxter's reaction to Jak's feelings realistically, without resorting to "hooray, I happen to be conveniently gay for you as well!" A Dead Fic, unfortunately, but still very worth reading, even if you're not into slash.

And It Calls by Jemisard (Slash)

  • Recommended by Jesajew
  • Pairings: Jak/Daxter, Torn/Ashelin
  • Synopsis: A tragedy has happened and now Jak and Daxter are loose and rampaging in Haven City.
  • Comments: Dark and hauntingly beautiful. In a refreshing departure from most other Jak/Daxter friendship and shipping fics, it explores the possibility of Daxter harboring some hidden resentment towards Jak over his transformation, and doesn't portray Daxter as being completely accepting of Jak (over)relying on him for comfort. The description of the two's interaction when they are locked in Dark mode and form a warped, symbiotic relationship is breathtaking.

Talk To Me by Robin (Slash, lemon)

  • Recommended by Jesajew
  • Pairings: Jak/Daxter, Ashelin/Torn
  • Synopsis: Daxter discovers Jak's unrequited feelings for him. Hilarious hijinks ensue as he wrestles with his own feelings, then sets out to seduce Jak. Takes place in Jak X.
  • Comments: Fun and light-hearted from start to finish, with a very light sprinkling of angst to make things interesting. The premise it starts with is a little shaky, but once the ball gets rolling the author builds an enjoyable story out of it. Crowning moments of heartwarming and funny abound, along with some lovely smut.
